This video is showing a box joint sled being made. A box joint is common in box making as it is quicker than dovetails and stronger than just miter joints.
Just saw your ductwork video. I think I'm going to go buy some from Lowes and do it myself instead of paying 300+ for 3 runs. It's in the attic and I don't want to do it but I don't like paying a lot of money for something i can do 😢

Add a second fence and put the pin in that, clamp it in place, now you can adjust the fit, also you could flip it over for a different size pin
That is a good idea. Use the front fence for a different size.

need a flat bottom saw blade to square up your cuts so that your joints fit tight
A better dado blade set is definitely in the near future.
