- A basic guide on how to set up a pressurised CO2 kit for a planted aquarium aquascape. The best way to grow aquatic plants faster is to add carbon dioxide via a pressurised CO2 system like this.
Keep on scaping!

What about if you did a video explaining your favourite livestock for aquascapes and why?
CO2 and pH. How pH grows and decreases daily because of the injection of CO2 and how does it affect to the system: Bacteria and algae mainly.
Great work, as usual. Happy birthday, George. Do something special tomorrow.
Yes I did
HIya George, another fab vid, but a secondary video explaining the pro's and con's of in-line diffusers and co2 reactors would be great! Having watched a couple of videos on the subject, it seems these are better in diffusing the gas into the water before it hits the tank compared to in-tank diffusers. Thanks and happy birthday! 👍🌱
Tutorials are great to mix in with your other content, and much appreciated. You do a nice job of explaining a given topic, and much more succinctly than some other content creators out there
Happy Birthday George and Tommy! Love these tutorial style videos, even if I'm familiar with the topic I always learn more from your videos!
Happy birthday. Guys!!! Congrats on the 100K subscribers!!! Thanks for a great, informative video... love going back to the basics for newbies to the hobby...and a good review for the more experienced.... always love your videos!!! 💖💖💖
Thank you for info. And the break down on use of c02, by far its one of best I’ve seen
Finally. I’ve watched so many co2 guides and this one answered all of my questions (specifically around dosage of bubbles per second, and the timing slightly different than the lights). Thank you
Excellent tutorial George, I have just started researching co2 systems and you have explained the required kit and procedure perfectly (not too different from my ‘home brew’ set up!). Thank you so much.
I feel confident in setting up my first C02 system now, thank you.
Happy birthday George! Great content as always. Format is great too 😄
Really appreciate this. I've been hesitant to add it since I have young kids in the home who are always gazing at the tank, having them pull on lines, cables, etc would be disastrous. However, this means I can also take my time, learn about it and save up for a great system in the future. Always appreciate the information, George! Would love to see more on this including its relation to algae control.
This cleared up a lot of my questions and made me feel a bit more confident in co2. Thank you
Great tutorial George, I think some more videos like this would be a great idea 💚🌱
Just doing the initial research before setting up a 30-gallon (hopefully planted) tank. Love your videos - very informative.
Brilliant video George, very much needed advice for the hobby
Loving all your videos George, also the old ones. I’m getting on to CO2 tomorrow 😊
Thanks for all the educational content, we learned a lot. Merry Christmas and greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱.
Thanks George, well presented mate. Great refresher!🤘
Nice style of tutorial, detail and clear explanation about the tools
Fantastic tutorial George,I'm new to CO2 and now feel confident to use the set up you have shown in this video THANKYOU.
Glad to help, Bill 👍
Happy Birthday George. Thanks for the educational video. Love it!
I really enjoyed that. I think videos like this are brilliant and covering everything like this will show people that it's actually not that scary. Thank you
Great video! Probably the best CO2 tutorial I've seen. Made it look easy.
More tutorials please! I know you've done a few low tech, non co2 tanks videos before but would it be possible to do a summary video of key factors -surface agitation, how strong of a lighting, fertilizer, etc - of a successful low tech, non co2 tank (which I believe comprise of a big part of the aquarists out there)
Nice video! For those of us in the US I found the coupler size on the regulator is larger than the fitting on a standard fire extinguisher. I purchased a swappable 15lbs tank from a local supplier for $90.00 refills for $20.00.
Great video George wish I had this when I first set up my c02 hopefully videos like this will help grow our hobby more and your channel 1 million incoming
Great info Mr Farmer do pls keep up the info, hope that you provide us with more into detail knowledge TK YOU
Happy Birthday to you guys and congrats on 100k! I had a mini schnauzer for 12years, they are the most loving dogs. ❤️
HAPPY BIRTHDAY George and Tommy, and YES I saw you reach 100,000 subscribers on Green Aqua...you were sleeping!!! Haha. Wide awake here in Canada. Cheers George - keep on rambling.
This was an excellent tutorial. NOW I have a clear understanding. Thank you!
Great video George! I was a lil Leary to do CO2 but the video made it very helpful and easy to do a setup! THANK YOU!
Great video presentation. Clear and concise! Well done.
Great breakdown of the basics of CO2! It helps immensely.
thank u so much for explaining everything in detail...best tutorial.
Great informational video! I'm actually looking into buying a new co2 setup for a new project so this was just in time for me 👍
Thank you for explaining! You’re a good teacher!
Great video George, I've been curious about suing CO2 in planted tanks I uses it in my calcium reactor for my reef tank and I see it's very similar. I had noticed that you where using a fire extinguisher and that had me scratching me head, lol I'm glad you cleared that up for me. Keep on Scaping !!!
Great informative and easy to understand video for novices like me.
Awesome just the video i needed to see today, thank you George. Keep it up! :)
Wow best intro i seen in a long time.. thanks for a great video again , have a great day.
Great video. So informative as always. Please do more videos about CO2 like maintenance, care, tips and tricks etc.
Best video so far thanks mate
Just found your channel, great information! Exactly what I was looking for re co2. Love anything DIY
Thank you so much I have been waiting and looking for a video like this on how to set up co2 and what to look for 2👍🏼👍🏼 up
Excellent video super informative and easy to follow
Thank You so much for helping us with your knowledge.. Need some content on Fertilizer
As usual very informative and great video George! I've stuck with low tech tanks and low light plants for now. I do want to start a high tech planted tank at some point after I move.
There are dual stage regulators with fixed outlet pressures. They reduce the outlet pressure to a fixed psi usually between 30 and 40 psi depending on the model.
I do like the tech videos.. I love the science behind what we do👍👍👍
You are the reason why I started using surface skimming intakes and it's wonderful. You can inject a lot more co2 without harming the livestock and it keeps the water beautiful (something great about having the surface so clean it's like glass).
George - happy birthday. Thanks for this video. I have been using disposable cartridges with great success, made a big difference in plant growth. Please do a video on CO2 circulation.
Very helpful video thanks George
Love tutorials and tips. Thank you! Great for us new guys :D "wish I knew this when I started" sort of stuff would be amazing too!
Wow, this is a very informative video. I had no idea about how to use a regulator or what anything on it really meant. I had a clue of course, but I didn't know. I've been wanting to start using pressurized co2, because I just don't trust diy methods and it seems more convenient just getting an actual setup. As well as it's a great investment for the future. Thank you for the video, and yes I do like this style of video.
Happy Birthday George!!! Have a good one bud!!!
George, this video is incredibly helpful. Thank you! Also, Tommy is beautiful.
Thank you for the full explanation
Very educational. I'm going to get one
Happy Birthday to the both of you.
It would be great if a follow up video could be done on testing and fine tuning the system for optimal Co2 levels.
Great vid :) Helped me alot
Have a Happy birthday George!👍👍👍
Hello George, Hope this finds you and yours in good health and fine spirits. Here are a few questions, what are the pros and cons between an inline diffuser and an in-tank diffuser? Which is a better return system under gravel jets or in-tank returns? Please explain why med. or low light plants don't need CO2 but high-light plants do and are there any plants that buck this rule. Can you explain what kind of led wattage is needed per gallon of tank water for low light, a medium-light, and a high-light requirement tank? Thanks, George and Hope you get around to these.
CONGRATULATIONS GEORGE
LOVE FROM BANGLADESH
Thanks for the detail Co2 demo. Some troubles are solved...👍👍
Thanks George this was great.
Very helpful.
Nice Vid George and Happy Birthday. I would like to see more info on the type of diffusers, inline etc and when best to use them (tank size) do inline reactors restrict filter flow if so how much etc, etc. when is it best to use them, best types and so on. On another note i was researching the Fluval Flex today as i fancy one and came across a video of you scaping a Fluval edge...must have been sometime ago that was done 😆
Great instructional video George, this inspired me to get my first co2 and I just set it up. Do you need to install a check valve to prevent water from flowing back into the regulator when it's not on? Saw that on another video and was wondering if you had it installed as well.
Nice! Needed this.
That would be great to hear more about co2 effects on the tank water etc
HAPPY BD!!! What is your opinion about the use of a pH probe to regulate the delivery of CO2? Thanks for another great video!!!
Could you put the texts in your videos on the top of the screen instead of the bottom? I need the subtitles and they hide the text you put, so I'd have to pause the video disable/enable the subtitles, each time just to read them.
Thank you.
Hi George, very interesting and informative video, never had a dump of co2 , obviously the downside of disposable bottles is regulating the amount and time as this is normally manual. Is it possible to add one to those systems ? Thanks in advance.
Thanks George, I've been looking at co2 for a while but have been put off by the perceived complexity. This vid made it so simple to understand I think I'll be happy making the jump :)
One question how long will the 2kg vessel last for generally speaking?
Hi George, brilliant video I'm happy to see how to set up a fire extinguisher been wanting to do it for a while but thought u needed some special adapter, didnt relise you just take the horn off😂 . When the extinguisher is empty do you/can you refill or is it a case of buying a new one? Thank you 👍
Hi George, not sure if this has been mentioned but you don't need a tie wrap as the pin will back in again when the handle is gripped down and this keeps the cylinder valve open.
Hi George, I use your channel a lot for learning. I've just set up my first system just like the one shown in your video, however the high pressure gauge hasn't budged but I can vary output pressure gauge. Have you any advice as to what's going on? I have it attached to a new extinguisher just like your video. Thanks!! :)
Reverb delay and lots of cymbals with downtempo IS the perfect aquascape vibe. This is the rhythm the fishes generally like to swim in.
Hey George, loved this video tutorial. From your experience, do you prefer online diffusers such as the one from co2 art or the diffuser you're using in the 600?
Congratulations!
A list of books/articles/online sources on using CO2 in aquariums would be helpful.
I remember one or your post using inline co2 diffuser to the inlet canister. Do u still using the method? If yes do u have a video?
Just what I needed to know. Thanks. Now to how to test CO2. Ty
Thanks George! Of the neo diffusers, which of the three sizes should I get for 50l ? Ta!
Very useful cheers George. I’d be interested to see any quick checks for ensuring the system has no leaks. Enjoy your birthday!
hi i use co2 with ph controler system. can you also make a video with co2 + ph control.
Happy Birthday and to Tommy who I can see is the 'Editor in chief'. Buying a cheap setup from the LFS is expensive to operate. Buying a more robust system is expensive to set up but very cheap to operate. In the UK finding a good supplier of gas is difficult and I don't have a car. I get mine delivered 10 kg for £15. The problem is the cylinder a bit big but very cheap. Took a while to locate this.
Congratulations🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
100k Sub
Hi George may I ask where u brought your co2 fire extinguisher from many thanks Nathan
Penblwydd hapus!!!!!
Merry birthmas George & Tommy!
Co2 circulation vid PLEASE. Does Diffuser go opposite side of canister outlet / inlets? Or same side?
Hi, where did you get the regulator from soni know the right size. Do you have a link thanks Gareth 👍
Happy birthday George, belated..I guess I m late wishing you
Great video. Something on CO2 diffusion would be good. I use a ph controller to control my CO2 on/off. It monitors the ph and turns on the CO2 solenoid to reduce the ph - taking advantage of the ph/kh/co2 relationship. I am relatively new to CO2 I injection and It seems to me that this method works well but doesn’t seem to be a popular method in the hobby - everyone seems to control by counting bubbles and timer linked to the light time cycle and monitor CO2 level by drop checker. Is there something I’m not understanding as I said my system seems to work well and is a set and forget but no one else seems to use this method. Am I setting my self up for some long term issues or some other problems? Thanks again for your channel
Happoy Birthday Tommy and George....xx
Can I use a disposable CO2 system till my carpeting plants(MC)grow in then run the tank without CO2? Thanks!
Aquascaping it's very popular in Australia yet, I work in a restaurant and just put a scaped tank out the front for people to look at yesterday and it's just patches of Monte Carlo on some fluvel stratom and couple of bits of SEIRYU Stone and a bonsai tree I made out of spider wood and glued some alternanthera reineckii to it for leaves (it's pink and looks like it's dead 😂 been sitting in the pet store for awhile) kind of looks like a cherry blossom tree. And it gotten alot of people asking about it thinking it's a plastic tank set up you can buy or something.
The one question I have is where do you re-fill your co2 tank once it has finished?
The co2 dump now makes sense to me, I'm a newbie and experienced that very same issue that I couldn't figure out. The co2 ran perfectly but had a sudden drop out of nowhere a month later, would that be what's going on. I did also lose some scarlets and snails when this happened, should I move to a 2 stage on my nano take?
Using a fire extinguisher warping nearly as scary as I thought. Thanks for the video.
Do you get your fire extinguishers refilled once they're empty or get replacements?
We need to put water in the co2 tube between the regulator to the diffuser ? I don’t get it, how’s the water shows of?
Is it the same Co2 for soda machine. If that it i have 5lb tank. think going start freshwater tank soon.
What’s the best size diffuse to use ? Let’s say for a 55gal tank
