  • In this video, I take ONE piece of fabric to create an Asymmetrical Cowl Draped Dress inspired by the Japanese Designer Junya Watanabe.
This avant-garde drape is deceptively simple, but yet would be considered an exercise in advanced draping.
To Learn the basics of draping get my new book "The Fundamentals of Fashion Draping" available on amazon.com: amzn.to/4aibzd2

Can you please make a video on draping a cutout dress that has leaf shaped cutouts in the front? I couldn't find any cutout draping videos on the Internet. Thank you.

(Linda). Hi Nick, i just found your YT channel and so happy that I did. I am getting back into sewing after 10 years (what ugghhh waste of them too!) Anyway, I have found a dress form Size 6. I messaged the person to get the measurements and 'still' waiting. By any chance would you know the Bust, waist and hip measurements? It they are smaller than me, i would then buy it so that I can work draping with your teachings. Your work is wonderful and beautiful! thank you 🥰

For us corset fans, would draping happen any differently to hide the lines of a custom-made corset? Any recommendations on layering fabric to make sure the corset is unnoticeable (except for the flawless shape of course).

I love it but how do you get in and out of it?

      Just guessing - - -
      1) Widen the neckline into a broader boat style and put in a side zipper.
      2) Put in a zipper or other closure (snaps, hook & eye, lacing) on that R shoulder.
      3) Put in a back zipper at the back neckline.
      4) Make the whole thing out of *_extremely_* stretchy fabric.
