    Hi Ro, you’ve been missed ! Just wanted to share some positivity . I’m currently in the process of moving into a new phase of my life , going to film school and going on new adventures. It’s so beautiful to have finally found something to care about more than obeying anorexia. To anyone reading , it can get better , but taking the first steps is your responsibility.

    My therapist once told me that initially it's a good thing that I am terrified of relapsing because this means that I'm seeing the ED for what it truly is (and not as a lifesaver which is how I saw it before) and also it means that I am actively working on not falling back. She said to watch out for moments when I think of it as a good thing or as a welcoming/comforting thing because those are the moments that are tricky and dangerous. Years later I've then had moments like these and it immediately rang so many alarms in my head. I don’t know whether this makes sense to anyone but it really helps me

    The fact that you’re no longer afraid to go out, socialize or watching the Barbie premiere because of your eating disorder but your ptsd, that’s a win. Now you can just focus on your exposure therapy and be even stronger - so proud🎀💕

Also I have now got an obsession with jellycats and I named my first one after you (Ro the rabbit 😊). You are so strong and I am so proud of how far you have come! Hi Ro, I don't usually post in the comments or on instagram because I never really know what to say, but I find so much peace watching your videos. My older sister battled from anorexia for 5 years but did not survive it. It has been 3 years since she passed away. During that time for me as a sibling of somebody with an eating disorder, I struggled a lot with my body image, comparing my body and diet to somebody I always looked up to who now was an unhealthy example affected me a lot. I never labelled myself with 'anorexia' but I have extreme self hate, food guilt, mild restrictive tendencies. I have ptsd as well due to trauma in my childhood and the journey I witnessed with my sisters illness and passing. I don't usually share this but I honestly just feel safe when I watch your content. When I am feeling anxious or stressed I always watch your stories on instagram and feel so much more mindful and connected to my true self. I am so proud to see you thrive and heal from your eating disorder, even though my sister never did, I never stopped believing that there was a part of her that wanted to heal and could heal. Seeing you healing reminds me of the part of her that was alive and her true self. I am almost certain she used to watch your videos and she always looked up to eating disorder healers so much. Thankyou for creating a community that shows the beautiful side to being your true authentic self! You are helping so so many, even more (who don't usually comment) than you can ever know 💕💛😊

    Found you right at the start of your journey (maybe second video). At that point I was deep in a serious relapse with no possibility to get treatment in my country because I'm an adult and we barely even have enough therapy places for kids/teens. Your videos really had an impact and gave me the courage to try recovery on my own almost a year ago. I still have a long way to go but I can proudly say I've challenged almost all fear foods, my body is healthy again AND as of today I'm 150 days p*rge-free 😊

    This video is SO encouraging. I have PTSD and I'm starting EMDR soon and your progress is so comforting. I know it's a long process, but it will eventually get better. I'm terrified of starting EMDR but what I'm going through right now is much, much worse.

  • @pliktl
    @pliktl Год назад +8

    I have been doing EMDR for a couple of years now. My therapist has me hold two buzzers that i hold in either hand, and they buzz in a rhythm while I walk through and process memories. What i can tell, it is activating both sides of your brain, like what happens when walking, and it is easier to access information.
    My biggest nightmares have stopped too, the ones that would tell me things that would effect my daily life. It is incredible how the mind and body will journey through it - and each memory processes differently.
    I realize that mental health is a lifelong maintenance, and I am finally looking forward to that.
    PS i like your Bad Snacks music choice ❤ i keep trying to lure her up to Alaska for a music festival lol

    When you started RUclips I was there and that next week I started second guessing my anorexia. That week I told my momma. That week I realized I wasn’t healthy or happy. My ED was to strong and I gave up and almost died. I was gone for a month and went on RUclips I saw you and again you made me second guess I tried so hard to recover and gained a little weight but than I relapsed and was sent to a ed hospital. I stayed there for 4 months. Once I got out I saw your video and I finally told myself no I was not going to relapse I was miserable and at that time you were already getting so much better and I started balling my eyes out because during that time I could have recovered, recovered with you! I started taking my meds and not hiding them. I started becoming happy again and once and now here I am. Here WE ARE. All of us. We did it Ro. And I couldn’t have done it without you. You saved me.

      I am sorry you are going through this. I am sure that you imagined falling pregnant to be a much happier experience. But what a wonderful thing it is that you _can_ get pregnant, as this is not the case for all women who have struggled for such a long time. I'd really like to encourage you to talk about it with your husband. After all, you are married to go through life together and support each other with your struggles, you with his and he with yours, aren't you? And may I remind you that just because you are slipping back into coping mechanisms right now does not mean that there is no coming back from this? It's completely understandable to have a relapse as being pregnant comes with so many emotions (partly induced by the life changing experience it is, partly induced by hormones itself), so I hope you will be able to be kind and forgiving to yourself and find your strength again. I take from your comment that you have been healing in your anorexia recovery and I hope this gives you courage to believe that you are stronger and healthier, both mentally and physically, than before. Relapses are part of recovery. The skill you gain throughout your recovery is to bounce back from them. You've done it before, you can do it again. I wish you all the best. ❤

    The nightmare thing is so true. I don’t get nightmares (anymore lol) but I do suffer from this thing called epic dreaming which is where it feels like you dream all night and the dreams are incredibly stressful, basically like you went to a full day of work while you were asleep. Idk if anyone else has this but waking up exhausted every day also makes the days blur together because you no longer have sleep really drawing the lines between the days.

      If you have struggled with a restrictive eating disorder, it is normal to experience an intense urge to eat in recovery. As your body comes out of a starved state and you signal to it that there is food available, your body will naturally try to reverse the results of restriction. This is not unhealthy binging. It is your body healing . Trust it x
      If you are genuinely concerned, speak to your treatment team or reach out to support networks

    Your video popped up in my feed and though I don't have the same struggles, we all have struggles, and I felt moved to share this.
    Personally I have never been small. Always a thicker build since I was a kid. So the opposite tendancy I guess. I am older now, 42, and for life since University, my goal was to eat healthy, but to eat. To enjoy myself. To enjoy food and nourishment as it is the most natural pleasure! And obviously needed. To learn to love and accept my body, despite it not being whatever society dictates is beautiful. As you get older, you realize, or you should realize, that all of that comparing and changing of self, is all complete nonsense and a waste of time. It is a harder world to be in for you yonger girls and women now. The pressure to be this ridiculous, so called perfect, fake, idea, that is so far from reality. Botox, so much makeup, surgery and fillers and on and on. It is like society is telling us women that we are so awful as ourselves that we have to turn ourselves into something else that isnt real. It is horrible, cruel, a lie and just another form of oppressing women. We have power as ourselves. There is nothi g wrong or not beautiful about any of us! We do not need to coat of hair and bodies in cancer causing chemicals etc. We need to band together and stop the attack on ourselves and love ourselves again!
    We are all different, so for there to be one ideal look, is absurd. We are all how we are meant to be, our size and shape, when we eat healthy and don't deprive ourselves. There will always be something we wish we were but aren't. Always. But it is not reality, and life is too short and hard enough. Take care of yourself and love yourself and don't give any fucks about fads and beauty standards that aren't real and are meant only to oppress us as women. Learn to value and take care of your health. That is what is truly important. Glad that you have healed a lot in your journey. Here's to more healing in the future, for you and all of us women!
