bigfry`s gameplay did not do this game justice. i had to see someone who is actually good at the game play it. im definitely buying it day one.
Fry played it like Fortnite.
He looked incredibly stupid when complaining that "enemies know your location the instant you get near them and will attack you" meanwhile what he shows is him popping out of cover and opening fire first.

Agree! Other gameplay clips have made the game look a bit tedious. In this video the game looks tense and exciting.
Okay, good to see the rig can actually stop rounds. Also, the tac cam is a huge perk to have... of course it also explains why the point isn't to not be seen, but to not be worth attacking.

I would like a spectate mode where you can just watch the factions duke it out. It would be fun to sit back and watch npcs battle each other without you getting in the way or trying to hide.
I told my wife about this game and I told her cooked or not I'm getting it day one, devs have a vision for something amazing and I'm here for the ride.

OMG, I could listen to this soundtrack on repeat! They could have a live stream of the game running in the background as ambient noise with these songs, and I would listen.

Nails the sort of intense panic as you hope enemies will pass you by and not just light you up, just when you expect to get away something unfortunate happens like a tank finishes off its last target and opens up on you etc.
It's nice to see someone that actually knows how to game / has common sense demo this game for us. Great first-look content, thank you!
The soundtrack and general audio design is so on point for this game. Really helps bring the world to life.
Finally some decent gameplay. most people I've seen play this, play in groups. and tend to just stand around and get each other killed.

Just watching this is giving me anxiety. No way I'm going to play it myself but I'll definitely watch other people's vids on it in the future, once it's cleaned up it's going to be fantastic. Also loved that humorous foreshadowing with the "I'm totally getting away" bit 😆

Impressive solo gameplay. You and critical rocket doing this game justice making the game look playable in both solo and coop. Meanwhile Bigcry and his friends needs to stick to journalist difficulty games.

Certain faction I believe euruskan are the tech ppl that deploy robot zombies and one with guns from what I’ve seen

They really need to work on that helicopter...
The helicopters really do look derpy. If they can't get them to be more realistic, I think it would fit to just switch them to using some sort of retrofitted antigrav tech, like the drones.
I agree. They need to be less stationary, or at least less stationary when they're that low. Lethality needs to be increased significantly if it's going to keep with the theme of the game, the player characters seem too robust for the setting. scavenging itself should take longer, it shouldn't be instant. The theme of the game requires a higher amount of realism, if it's cartoony or too gamey then the amazing setting of the game will become meaningless. They should also have a setting for spotting that doesn't involve being in FPS mode; I would think if you're aiming your weapon at a military unit, that should provoke them into engaging you.
@@andrewmueller23 Only reason looting is that fast is the guy isnt really looking he's just grabbing anything regardless of whether its worth keeping or not.
@@andrewmueller23All solid points. The "you're not *this* guy" thing doesn't really make sense when the player's health pool is bigger than a heavy foot soldier's. Though from the gameplay I've seen it still looks very difficult despite this. Maybe they can tweak the stealth a bit more so there's more things a player can do to hide or bound stealthily, like smoke grenades or a camo netting that functions like the MGS box and then a higher lethality won't be as punishing
Finally someone who knows how to play video games. Got tired of watching kid level gameplay...
It's nice to watch someone who doesn't try to kill everything.
I watched a dude tried to take out a tank with his assault rifle by himself, then get mad when he got two tapped.

@@RaumplestompThis guy is pretty trigger happy, but it seems to work bc he leaves the area immediately vs the tons of channels Ive seen where they stand around looting after their one firefight to get wiped out by responding units

Lots of work ahead, lets start by not spawning enemies out of thin air in close proximity to a player.
It seems like it would almost make more sense to have a point spawn and then let the enemies interact with the level, NPCs, and players as they travel throughout the level and attempt to accomplish objectives. It would probably be a nightmare to program, but that way, as a player character, you would really feel like a third party operating in the midst of two other factions with their own objectives.
An AA12? Lets friggin gooo!
The scanner looks really powerful, it’ll be interesting to see if it’s that strong in EA

The only problems i saw is the spawn mechanic ... Because you look down a hall way and see nothing and than a freaking tank or walker shows up ...
Haha correct it was surprising at times but the Devs made that their top priority after the beta closed.
I will say I hope the sudden squad-spawn in right on top of you gets tweaked a fair bit. Nothing like scanning at 10:29, being okay then immediately 3 armored enemies pop much too close lol

could i ask how u got the game early, im currius as you dont have any prior videos on your channels or any substansial following ? im very currius as i have been thinking about starting a channel revolving around forever winter and want to know it one can simply reach out to the devs with the interion of making videos?
Absolutely, My wife won the beta raffle in July and she gave me the extra key they gave with each winner. I recorded a bunch of sessions while playing the Beta as a coping method for when the Beta would end. I saw a couple people posting longer Beta footage a few weeks ago and thought I have footage from a game that isn't out, and I am hoarding it all to myself when there are thirsty Scavs out there who didn't even get to play yet. I figured if I could throw something together before the 24th (without giving spoilers away) it would help satiate my fellow Scavs and hopefully show people how much fun I had playing regardless of what others were saying. They made a game for the homies so I made a video for the homies about a game for the homies.
Great video, but one nitpick, i seem to constantly miss your commentary in subtitles, consider making them pop out more, maybe with a contour, or better yet add a voiceover next time. Cheers.

one thing i have noticed from all these gameplay videos is people use the loot all function too much. from what i understand the backpack being full triggers the Hunter Killers. Leaving 1 slot empty will prevent that right?
I think it was my editing I made a point to cut showing any loot because I didn't want to show what drops where. Also the Rig inventory goes by weight too if you have heavier items you will have less slots available.
It's not how much loot you have it's more if you have very valuable stuff you will get marked
@@vamperic Yup especially if its quest related items, those will trigger the hunter killers.
How come when you start looting you seem to exit immediately? When I've seen gameplay on other channels they wait to see what's inside.
Great question, I chose to hide loot contents and loot box locations because I didnt want to give loot locations away before the games release. After the 24th all my clips will show the loot I get.

What would you say you success rate is for extracting?
For me I'd say 50%
One hting i noticed is a lot of the ppl you were shooting were just kinda ignoring you and only actively tried to kill you after you killed one of their guys, is that a mechanic?
The AI in this game will decide if you're a priority target or not. If factions are engaged in a fight with each other, they'll usually not attack you unless you attack them. However, once a fight has completed, they'll attack you next if they see you as a threat, or if you hide, they'll continue on their patrol and you can come in and loot.
This game looks FUCKING AMAZING. I might have to put a rig together just for this game.

Great video. Can u explain "hunter killer" mechanic and how to avoid it?
They reworked it after the Beta because they would spawn right behind sometimes. However I am not sure what triggered the event. I believe they get called when you have looted so much from a faction they have to do something about it.
I haven't played, so my input isn't worth a lot, but one of the trailers said something like "if you find something of real value, you will be hunted", and in a gameplay video, I saw a guy pick up an unusual item "weapon tech", and then immediately got the hunter killer notification.
I hope they put alot of effort in humanizing troops and work on a decent tac-ai for them. Standing infront of a mech is immersion breaking.
It's hard to really gauge it before I actually lay my heads on the game, but I almost feel like there shouldn't be music for this game or at least not directly connected to the game in any way; I don't think the music is bad at all, but it feels like it runs afoul of the gameplay and makes audio balancing more difficult? At times it sounds like the music also responds to the situation, which I'm not sure how I feel about. This feels like the type of game where you experience the danger rather than have it told to you by music, sort of like how in a horror game the music shouldn't be too sensitive of an indicator of something happening?
Looking forward to trying it though, I think this is already money's worth just going through the different hellscapes.

Would you consider listing your PC specs and rough graphics settings that you played with?
Sure, I played on a EVGA 3080, my CPU is a little dated being an 8700k but its clocked at 5ghz. For the recordings I had the graphics set to Medium. The game would run on High but it would tear during moments of conflict with dozens of units around. You may notice the fps drops still happened during intense moments but it will become more optimized.

What I'd like to know is why this beta footage looks better than what the youtubers are currently posting. It's for sure a different build if you just look at the rep bar when stuff is being killed. Why are your character so upgraded? You have so much HP and carry capacity compared to the footage from most youtubers. Just curious.
im curious about multiplayer do we see other group of player on same map? hostile or friendly?
Great question, You will not see any other players who are not in your party in any run. Its similar to Helldivers but I do not think people can drop in with you during a run.
Hi. Thank you for showing the gameplay. I am very curious on what are your PC specs as I have checked the hardware requirements for Forever Winter on Steam and they are frankly high.
Thanks for watching I was playing on a 3080 with bit of a dated CPU 8700k but its clocked to 5ghz. All my clips are on Medium graphics settings. I was able to play for the most part on High but it would tear during moments on intense combat with dozens of units around.
The TAC seems crazy helpful is that a later thing u can get or can u find it pretty early on?

If you help one faction in a firefight, will they fire on you or treat you as neutral/friendly?
You can be "friendly" with one faction, and al ot of times they will just ignore you if you dont look like athreat, if you pay attention to his playthrough alot of the soldiers werent even prioritizing him and only fired at him when he shot first
For beta not bad, but they need to improve AI, polish animations and add mechanics for Toothy and others boses, that were in trailers
I wonder if a squad of soldiers is right in your path, will they start shooting if they see you or will they pass if you don’t shoot at them?
I think it depends on your reputation with their faction.
Some are just hostile to anything that moves.
It was always situational, If there was a squad of infantry looking around/moving they would aggro if i got too close to them which tracks in a war environment. There were also times where they would turn hostile towards me but would shortly switch targets to a bigger threat like other infantry or mechs, which made the environment feel exceptionally authentic.
Thanks for the gameplay! How much pre-planning are you able to do before a mission? There doesn't appear to be a map or mini-map but I was thinking it would be cool to be able to scout out zones of conflict or scout patrols and plot a (rough) course to your objective.
Great question, they did a great job at creating an evolving battlefield. I would say I had a plan of what direction to move in but everything else was reactionary to the unpredictable chaos. Which kept each run fresh
@@Elias-j1v Yes, that makes sense. I figured the enemy placements are procedurally generated each run. Players will probably prefer the quicker flow of "gear up & go" vs. having to pour over a map before deploying for a mission. Thanks!
the funny thing is the head look like very small
it be nice if they could implement a Cover to Cover system maybe like Splintercell or The Division. if not that then maybe a light cover system lke Cyber Punk where you peek around corners when you aim your weapon
Do you think the quick loot without waiting for it to "load" will be fixed? Based on official gameplay, it seems like bug.

That was actually my editing. I felt like showing loot locations and drops on a game that isn't out yet is a bit of a disservice to the players.

As much as I want this game to be good, it's not looking great.The trailers made it look like you were a tiny dude trying to survive while large mechs stomped past you fighting a larger scale war. Not one concerning you but one where you would at times get caught in the cross fire. But it looks more like a map full of things out to kill you specifically, like any other survival game.

I find the game intriguing but all gameplay video I watched so far make the gameplay look terrible. I wonder how it is when you are playing instead of watching.

I'd agree with that. The stealth mechanic now seems to be stay x meters from the enemy to avoid detection. Using the environment as cover should be the primary means of avoiding detection.
This was great till we hardly ever got to see you extract and see the loot. It felt like those shitty short videos that cut out right before the end so you never see the conclusion

@@Elias-j1v NP man, you nailed the game play though, was satisfying to watch. I hope you're able to add a bit of commentary or do whatever you have to do these days to get noticed and become a content creator since I'd love more videos. I really enjoyed the whole letting the gameplay do the talking, but I understand there aren't any big channels that do that perhaps a style like fooster is a happy medium since he does take long pauses especially during tense moments and it flows naturally, not like he is trying to fill an awkward silence.
@@perpbanrequests Thank you so much for the feedback! I was tossing around the idea of releasing future videos in pairs. One version has my commentary and the other one no voice at all just gameplay.
the world looks so dope, but almost everything else just seems meh. movement seems clunky and not just cause you got a cage on your back. the force 3rd person and flipping in and out of ADS is immersion breaking. first person should be an option. not to mention the large white hud. the gunplay is very flat and the recoil soul-less. the environment looks cool though. grimdark esk, but so far doesn't look like there's any real reason to explore the edges. no lore or environmental storytelling. no one to visit or interact with. it's still a beta though so. *shrug* oh, back to the UI/UX; the loot being highlighted from a far on hud is tacky, ruins immersion and turns people into slurp bots. really should take any and all pointers from tarkov that are relevant. no item highlights. hidden or very small minimal hud. guns need to feel good to shoot. so far it looks like a skin has been put over a generic gun asset. the looting/searching loot window is big and bulky - the bar timer is ugly. I wanna feel like im digging through stuff not just waiting for it to load/populate. things should be different sizes. the AI is really bad. idk shit's really rough. lookin forward to the future!
This is _definitely_ not a beta.
Don't think the soundtrack fits the game. For as bleak as the setting is, it's too upbeat. Something like Armored Core 6's ost would fit it more I think. A very ambient and many times oppressive sound.
The enemies look way too weak. You could farm platoons of enemy infantry for their supplies at this rate. It's not at all in keeping with the theme of the game.
well from what ive seen , they keep coming in while you remain 1 , so yea 2-3 armored guys at once and you are done
Yea you could but then your threat level would be bumped up and those heavy weapons platforms won't be ignoring you anymore lol.
