    I am using TC Helicon interface, Bias 2, with Roxsyn. I was amazed how well it worked. I turn the noise gate on bias 2 all the way up with heavy gain and distortion. Noise? What noise? But the sounds should compliment each other but the volume on each is independent of the other. So to me it’s a perfect 1-2! I paid a ridiculous sum to put these two together. If you are comparing this to Midi Guitar 2 iOS, well don’t bother. MG2 is a glitch monster!!! Roxsyn surprised me by tracking that is close to near perfect. Solid 10 on performance. Sounds 5 but with instruments from Bias 2, you have a zillion options. Yonac needs to integrate its apps like Magellan or G2 to work inside Roxsyn.

      Roxsyn is great! Actually it's a phase distortion synth which is similar to a FM synth like the Yamaha DX7. That is why there are no real wave shapes like a subtractive synth. No saw, sine, triangle or pulse wave just different versions of the same phase distorted carrier that flows to the modulator. It's a relatively new idea to use a type of distortion as a synth wave to give a guitar a new sound instead of trying to make a guitar play Moog synth lines or saw waves, or pulse width modulation. Roxsyn is one of a kind and pretty cool. I would like to see in Roxsyn 2 a way to make a realtime wavetable through a granular process but I think that would require more processing power than even an iPad Pro can provide right now. Maybe for the Mac, but I can hope! Thanks for watching!!!

    Thanks for the demonstration! Great video! I'm currently trying it from my trumpet and I can see huge potential for this. Unbelievable tool for the price! I'd just warn you that if you made this video through screen capture on the ipad, it comes out as mono audio. Just something to bear in mind. Would have liked to have heard those delays in stereo!

      Hey let me tell you about a secret to screen recording iPads 😀 if you can connect you iPad to a Mac over USB This will make the Mac become a capture card for the iPad giving you stereo audio. I was using an older iPad on this video and the mono audio issue drove me nuts.The iPad pros from 2018 & 2020 do allow stereo capture of audio in the screen recorder but iPad airs & lower do not. So to get around this issue I began recording the iPad using my Mac which gives me a higher bitrate recording as well as a higher resolution. But you are correct that regular iPad’s & iPad air’s capture audio in mono for the screen recorder. You can also tether the iPad to the Mac and use iPad instruments & effects in Logic Pro X with midi or audio. I love a couple iPad synths that don’t have desktop versions so I tether my iPad to Logic to use these tools together. Thanks for watching and let me know how this works out with your trumpet I would really like to know.

      Music Factory Studios Very interesting, thank you for your reply. I have 2 ipad pros - a 1st gen 9.7 and 2nd gen 12.9. My desktop is a Windows machine anyway and I've never actually used screen capture for anything yet. I just have plans too, and read recently on the audiobus forum about the mono audio capture thing, so coincidentally, when watching your video, I noticed the mono audio and just thought I'd mention it in case you didn't know. I guess my iPads capture in mono then? Not that it would matter too much for me anyway, because I have my ipad audio running into my PC via a Yamaha AG06 interface and into the back of my Motu Ultralite Mk4, so would capture audio separately.
      I spent a couple of hours playing trumpet through the presets yesterday and it sounded crazy good! I'm excited about incorporating it into my music making! Good luck with it all, I'll let you know if I put anything out using Roxsyn. Thanks again for your thoughtful reply. Subscribed!

    Great video. Needed some more input on this awesome app I just bought last night. I’ve been dying to use a decent midi based guitar and this thing is like 20 bucks plus the old irig works just fine w it and cost me 15 bucks on amazon! I also jumped right into Audiobus/AUM and from there you can use a gate plugin AU effect on ur iPad or I believe you can bus your tracks in Audiobus to your DAW, so I’m hoping to get low latency running some of my better Native Instruments plug-ins. I’m not sure if it creates midi files or what at the moment but I can’t wait to experiment and I’ll put up a video with a more complex rig after I see what’s possible. But thx for helping me out w understanding more of the actual app! Cheers brother

      Thanks for watching, RoxSyn is a phase distortion synth with some really cool abilities. I'll subscribe to your channel so I can see your video when you get your rig setup. I will be doing some more videos on RoxSyn in the future so check back and see when those come out!

    Does Roxyn come with different guitar instruments(sound packs) like any ordinary synth app. Or you can only plug in a guitar and play it and the app effects it, like a guitar amp. I don’t have a guitar, but been looking at this and GeoShred, I want guitar sounds (specifically a guitar audio unit/interapp app) for my iOS daws to play in them without a physical guitar.

      You have to put a sound into it, but Roxsyn doesn't make sounds on it's own. So you could use a synth or samples. You could even run drums through it. Roxsyn is pretty powerful. So you could record an a synth part and then use Roxsyn as a plugin inside of garageband or Cubasis. Cheers!

      @@joesalyers 👍thanks for the feedback. I actually been looking for something like that. I don’t know of any apps that do that where you can load a sound(sample,wavs)from your files and effect it with the synth. Only done that on ZENBEATS sampleverse 👍

    • @joesalyers
      @joesalyers  Год назад

      @@brandonmartinez8422 you would use roxsyn as a plugin. You record the sound in say garageband and then put roxsyn in a effect slot afterwards like you would use an EQ or compressor. Garageband which is completely free also has guitar and many other loops you could use and thousands of other sounds. You just drag and drop them in the track window. Try that. Cheers!

    Question around 5:!2 their is a picture of AUM with the roxsyn app in a circle, their is a total of 4 circles with a picture of USB cable, , I guess,...can you explain the steps so I can access this amazing app, thx

    • @joesalyers
      @joesalyers  4 года назад +1

      So I have an audio interfered hooked up to my iPad with the Apple camera connection kit. Then I open AUM and choose the input of my audio interface in the top big circle from the menu, next I choose Roxsyn in the next circle from the list of Audio Units. Just think of AUM as a very powerful audio mixer when you have an audio interface hooked up to your iPad. I hope that explained it if you need more info just let me know and I will try to help. Thanks for watching!

    Hi thanks for the vid. Would you know if you can sync the synths bpm to the aum's

    • @joesalyers
      @joesalyers  5 лет назад +1

      Yes just by tapping the BPM at the top beside the presets bank and selecting BPM Lock or Ext Clock depending on your needs. There is also a Tap to Tempo Feature for playing Roxsyn in a live situation. Have a great day and thanks for watching!

    • @joesalyers

      Yes I think so a flute or a piano might not sound good through Roxsyn but then again it might sound awesome. But the only way to find out is to try it. Try different things you might be surprised at what happens. Thanks for watching!
