9:34 "Panic Room" is one of your 'Bootleg' titles that's actually already at it's visual peak on DVD because it was a 'Super-Bit' title. Any 4K/Blu Ray-Upscale Player will basically make any DVD look High Definition.
I have a Oppo 983H and have played dvds on a UB 820 and even with super bit it can look damn good but nowhere near being confused for native HD

Great video idea Ken! Very prevalent to some collectors as more and more titles are being restricted to streaming services only; either after a theatrical release (cough. Cough Apple+), or in lieu of. I've slowly been picking up titles that I know will never get a physical release, or that seem to not be anytime soon that I want to see and have. Also, Pinocchio is alright, if you grew up enjoying the cartoon.
Hello Ken, thank you for another good video here! 7:00, that cover is the original for Splash, but after September 11th it got changed to the 2004 DVD Anniversary Edition we have.
It's the best version we have so far. We need a 4K UHD nice looking Steelbook version, Ken! Sony would do a fantastic job!
Look Who's Talking movies do not have an HD Blu-ray release.
Pacific Heights (Michael Keaton, Melanie Griffith), Something Wicked This Way Comes, Best Defense (Dudley Moore, Eddie Murphy), Micki and Maude (Dudley Moore). Those
need an HD Blu-ray, and or 4K UHD.
BEAUTICIAN AND THE BEAST is 1 of my favorites! It's actually on Blu-ray officially now from Paramount. Came out in 2022.
I’m not opposed so long as a company refuses to put out officially a show. Disney seems to start to be changing its mind but somethings like song of the south will never see the light of day so I’ll hold onto my fan restoration of that for now.
I just bought a 24 classic animation series from Disney that has Song of the South on it, if that DVD set is a bootleg, then they went through a lot of effort to make it look legit and mass produce to sell on Amazon and eBay

They did put it on DVD a while back before they started there "agenda" but never Bluray or 4k. There is a nice Bluray that Disney did put out in Argentina or somewhere in South America. You can import because it's region free.

‘Six Weeks’ is one of those that never even got a DVD release, which really pisses me off as I love it! It’s from ‘82 and based on a novel of the same name. I would kill for a copy…

Kill Bill is one loooong movie. Tarantino intended to release it as a single movie, but the studio wouldn't budge on releasing a 4+ hour movie. He wouldn't cut it down to 3 hours. You're, of course, welcome to consider it two movies if you want. That is how they were released and I'm sure it at least somewhat affected the editing
I only resort to a bootleg Blu-ray if that is the only option to own the movie, if it has at least a, dvd release only, I will pick up the dvd. So largely I pick up the odd exclusive to streaming movie up on a, bootleg Blu-ray, because obviously most of them don’t get a physical media release, especially, Netflix exclusives they avoid physical media like a vampire avoids garlic.
Don't know if you are aware.....The Godfather Saga (also know as 1902-1959 the Complete Epic) is an official video. Frances Ford Coppola actually put Part one and two together in the order of the events of the first 2 parts timeline. So the movie starts with scenes from part two and ends with part one. It was actually done specifically for television back in the 70's and was released in a limited edition 3 VHS set. My parents had the VHS edition and I actually transferred it on DVD for them and myself. My mom didn't want to get rid of the VHS set, but she no longer had a VHS player and couldn't watch it. Than I was able to transfer it for her onto DVD (I transferred alot of my old VHS tapes to DVD). It's actually a great movie watching the sequence of events in chronological order. It only includes parts 1 and 2......not part 3. I was able to get the 3 VHS set transferred to 2 DVDs. My parents were very happy about this cause they were able to watch it on their new DVD player at the time! This version has never been released on Blu-ray or 4K.....but I believe the bootleg you have Ken is this version. You should check it out if you haven't already.
The only bootleg I have is of the Spanish Bluray of True Lies. Ill still be buying the 4k edition as well.
I agree with buying bootlegs if there isn’t an official release available . I own Finch , Bird box & Army of the dead , I’m sure they will always be there on streaming as they’re originals but u never know .
I wouldn't bank on that being the case Disney Plus have ditched a lot of original streaming movies and shows so have Netflix
I keep seeing, what I believe, bootleg box sets out of China on eBay. Rare stuff I can't find anywhere else bundled up at a very attractive price. I just don't know if they're quality.
"Four Rooms" is an EXCELLENT movie......I watch it every New Year's Eve......It just came to Blu-ray on Viavision.......I bought it recently.....very nice picture quality and sound!!! I had it on DVD before. Bluray is a much better improvement....Highly recommend!!
Totally agree Ken I would not buy a bootleg of something officially released but if the studios haven't bothered to put some titles out that you want and you can find a boot then imo there's nothing wrong with picking it up, if the studios wanted that money they should have released it. You could argue they cant release everything if it wouldn't make enough in return but some of the titles they haven't bothered with is crazy. Oh and I must add that includes discontinued titles that ebay vultures want you to mortgage your house for, for gods sake re-relesase them.
I have Splash on an official blu ray. I had to import it from Australia though but luckily that's the same region code as Europe. I can't remember if it was region free or not. Have to look that up.

if it helps you watch WErewolf by Night quicker ...it's not a series but like a 90 minute movie, if that.... they have a color and B&W version... and it's really pretty good.

I used to have a DVD recorder hooked up to my cable tv and would record movies from TCM & TNT Monstervision. Most have since been replaced with official releases. I still have 1940's One Million B.C. and i don't think it'll ever make it onto DVD. There's lots of Public Domain movies available from private sellers, some being pretty good transfers. "Bootlegs" for private consumption isn't an issue because as you stated, if studios don't release them, its on them.
Because of bootlegs I own True Lies, The Abyss and On Deadly Ground. Never been released.

I agree. If Disney is going to hold classic movies hostage, then nobody should feel guilty purchasing bootlegs. Not even sure why Disney wanted to own them and not put them out. Terrible on their end. So many great movies that I want to own through a major company like "In and Out in Beverly Hills" "Ruthless People" "Outrageous Fortune" etc. I'm glad Tuna Train is releasing those titles. No guilt that I buy those titles through them.

Encino Man came out in May of 1992. The reason I know this is because I skipped my high school graduation to go see it with my then significant other. Didn't love the film, but I'm sure it was better than sitting through boring speeches. 😂

My custom collection is mostly wrestling and TV series that never got releases like Raw and Smackdown years and streaming shows that they refuse to put out like season 3 and 4 of Stranger Things, Ozark, You and so on
I'm not familiar with bootleg BRs, although I did receive what I'd call "fake" BR of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind from Amazon (3rd party seller). Artwork & disc looked suspect & it started automatically and had no menus. My question is do bootleg BRs have any surround sound mixes? I worry more about visual & sound quality more than anything.
Big Stan and The Chosen One i believe are the only 2 Rob Schneider films that have blu-ray releases.
I bought Hush from Netflix bootlegged and glad I did because it's not on streaming anymore. I have a grip of bootlegs that I don't feel one ounce of guilt about since the studios won't officially release them. I think you get your bootlegs from the same place I do. It's named after a fish...

They did do a TV of Godfather 1 and 2 and combined them was pretty good and only released on dvd.

A bootleg is an illegal release of illegally obtained and never released material .

Notes: Found no Stakeout 1 BD, yet there are 16 million Stakeout 2 BDs, with that yucky Rosie O'Donnell. Ken's copy of Joe's Apartment looks legit - it's got a Mature Audiences sticker and everything.
Nothing to lose ,Touchstone is not a part of Sony but Disney or Buena vista.Thats why is not on blu ray i guess

I don't bootleg theatrical release movies that already have a DVD. No need to push an already iffy practice. Nearly all my bootlegs are TV series and streaming productions which the Powers that Be refuse to put out themselves.

Any bootlegs I have seen are not cheap they cost more. Looks like some of your bootlegs have physical releases. You should be replacing them as you show us and maybe show the real vs fake
