  • Note this is a video recording of an online meeting conducted using the Zoom.us platform. Inevitably such recordings suffer a little in terms of their production values because of the internet connectivity and quality of webcams. Despite that, they allow us to provide additional valuable insights in to the MedComms business and we can involve a wider range of speakers who can participate from the comfort of their own desks, wherever in the world they are.
In this webinar, we're joined by Ewa Kilinska (Fishawack Health), Alicia Lledo Lara (Oxford PharmaGenesis), Lauren Oswald (Helios Medical Communications), Lucinda Sinclair (Ashfield MedComms) and Helen Speedy (AMICULUM) to talk about their own journeys into MedComms and their current roles, the day-to-day working life of medical writers, training opportunities and career prospects. The panellists have all been profiled in the new issue of our FirstMedCommsJob careers guide, From academic to medical writer: a guide to getting started in medical communications, published in March 2022. And we answer questions from the audience.
It should be of interest to anyone who is looking for insights into medical writing as a career and how to maximise their chances of gaining an entry-level job.
Recorded 06 April 2022 as a MedComms Networking webinar. Produced by NetworkPharma.tv

I'm feeling very old, having watched this video! I was a PhD-qualified, agency-employed medical writer and PM 'til serious illness forced me to step back some 19 years ago. Following my recovery, I acted as a carer for my elderly parents. At the somewhat advanced age of 57, I'm now ideally seeking a role of some kind in MedComms again but suspect the combination of my age and length of time out of the business would preclude this. I'd be grateful for any insights. Many thanks!

I don't think that it would be a problem, because medical writing does not involve much physical strength, it is an intellectually demanding job for sure, I recommend checking out Emma Hitt Nichols's RUclips channel and courses on Udemy( not affiliate / sponsored, etc. I found them helpful )
