Bro. I can’t even explain the courage you give me as a young black man to continue to try to get into medical school. God us so good. Proud of you. You’re an awesome dad, husband, and follower of Christ. Thanks JR Dr. Smith loading…🤓
This really means the world to me! Thank you so much for such an encouraging message! I’m in your corner and excited to see you progress in your own journey!
I havent been on your page since applying for med school (which you helped me get into) now the baby is talking and you are already going to be a doctor?!!! Crazy how time flies. Best of luck with your application
Time has definitely flown by! I’m so happy to hear you made it to med school and honored to play a small part in your journey. I really appreciate your continued support and wish you the best of luck too! Always feel free to reach out if I can ever be of any help!
Congratulations!!! You still have interviews to go through, but you are basically done with med school. I am so proud of you cause I watched your channel since my freshman year of college and I am on my way to graduate. You are an inspiration!!!🥳🥳🥳🥳💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽❤️
Thank you so much for supporting me since day 1! And congratulations on getting ready to graduate yourself! We’ve both come a long way over the past few years!
So awesome to see you almost finished now! I remember binging all of your videos when the channel dropped with your story of getting into med school. You’re going to be a great surgeon!
Congratulations on almost finishing! I am a pre-med student here in Rochester, MN aiming to apply to medical school next year so your videos are inspiring🙏🏾
Congrats JR with nearing the completion of medical school. Really enjoyed following your journey in medical school. Wish you best of luck for your interviews!!
Congratulations on your completion of medical school! I have enjoyed watching your journey, and I appreciate all of the insight you have shared thus far. You deserve everything that is coming your way! BTW you should definitely choose Japan! I've been, and you will definitely enjoy every second of it.
All virtual interviews definitely have a lot of benefits! Lol. Good luck at your Mayo interview though! 🙏🏽 They have fantastic programs in all specialties
Thank you so much! I’ve definitely missed making videos. Hopefully I will have some more time in the near future to getting back to more regular posts! 🙏🏽
I’m currently an undergrad finishing my first semester in college as a biology major. I played football and managed all As and one B+. What are some tips you can give me to improve my study habits moving forward and to excel even more? You’re a huge inspiration to me and I admire all of your hard work!
Congrats on your success so far! In terms of continuing to improve, I’d recommend learning about and implementing evidence based strategies like active recall and spaced repetition, and then creating a workspace using a tool like Notion that can keep you organized. I am leading a 30-day challenge at the start of the new year where we will go through all of these things as a group if you’re interested! Would you ever be interested on getting on The PreMed Years podcast by Dr Gray? I would love to see you guys collaborate and although your story is on RUclips through a series of videos. It would be nice to hear your story in a short, small, and compact podcast episode!
Thanks for the video! I am finishing up M2 and will start 3rd year clerkships in the Spring, and I was wondering if you were doing Aways through September, when did you work on your ERAS application?
Hey! Good luck on starting clerkships! Great question! Students usually work through ERAS during rotations. So it’s very helpful if you keep an updated CV and draft out a personal statement early. Then it’s just plug and chug and editing. I drafted my personal statement in January during a break I had, then I did editing and finished completing my ERAS in July and August.
@@EvolvingMedic That's Great. I'm a video editor and will help you edit them for you. So you can save your time as well.I can share my portfolio too.Let me know we can connect (:

@@EvolvingMedic when you go to Japan visit the temple, cherry blossoms and go into the country areas where the native live. Avoid the tourist area that are Americanized.
About 280 on step 1 and about 320 on step 2. There’s not a number of failed attempts that lead to you getting dismissed, but you should only plan to take the exams once. They’re super expensive!
Not too much in the second half of 4th year! The first half you have sub-internships which are arguably the most important blocks in med school. But after interviews, most students don’t have much studying to do! So you can pack up your Anki! Lol

Skip Japan and Italy.
Go to Kansas. Very important people there. 😁
Lol there are definitely important people in Kansas, but it may not be as exciting of a place to travel for vacation 😅

Absolutely! Students in any field will benefit equally and I think you would love it! Let me know if you have any other questions!
