Amazing!! I saw all the 18 vids in a row and a lot of things about GPS are now clear. This last video was posted 3 years ago, I really hope you continue with this awesome GPS series. Thank you!
This has been a great series. It has a lot of technical depth that is explained so it's easy to understand. I hope you get to finish the series one day.
crisp, to the point, excellent the whole series of GPS series, good work. hope the l5 and encrypted codes concept was also discussed .. hope the series will continue
You have a huge knowledge and simplicity in explanation of subject, could you continue with those Special Topics - GPS videos, you just cannot leave it like this, followers are really interested! Very motivational content and amazing videos you have! Thank you very much btw.
@@MichelvanBiezen I study by your videos much better than at school does, and because of your videos I do realize some complicated physical processes, that my school mates don't. So thank you very much for great content, and we all stay tuned! :)
Michel, thank you so much for these clear explanations on the details of GPS. I understand you are very busy with other videos - the wealth of knowledge is amazing! But please consider something: it is extremely difficult to find cogent video lectures on GPS, whereas there are other RUclips channels that are providing content on undergrad courses in math and physics. I think people would even pay (via RUclips join function) for you to continue this series. I know I would. You have something uniquely special to offer students and professionals in the field.
Thank you for your comment. Yes the plan is to get back to these videos. But we both are sooooo busy right now with our multiple jobs, we may have to retire before we find the time
I do really hope this series will continue in the near future. This has been really helpful for my master thesis preparation alot. Please sir, do it. :(
definitely still interest in this video series if you find time with your work schedule. Do you have any references, books, or journal articles, where I could read more about the topic. Especially interested in the security aspects of the system.
Hi there! Do you have any plans to continue with this series? I found all of these 18 so far extremely clear and informative and would love if you could continue into the realms of phase pseudo-range positioning!
I have gotten very busy at work, and haven't had the time to continue this series, (it takes a lot of prep time). When the opportunity arises, I will continue this series.
Hey I'm a student currently working on a project at university. Are there any videos on your channel or others you recommend for learning about the mathematics behind triangulation? I'm working on a project that involves space navigation and I'm having trouble finding good reference material. Can't wait for the continuation of this series! Thanks!
hello Mr. Van Biezen. could you explain maybe how is it possible to count the number of satellite visible over certain coordiante.I have searched in Internet and i have found it is with DOP in relation is. and DOP must be read from almanac. Am I correct, or is it correct way? Thank you very much
In subframe 4, UTC information sends the GPS-to-UTC second offset. Once in a while (last occured in 2017), UTC time is "lagged" by a second 60 (61th second in a minute), called "Leap Second", at 23:59:60 UTC either on june 30 or on december 31 to keep UTC time synchronises with the Planet Earth's natural rotation. The GPS system can not handle leap seconds at all, since timekeeping is ultra-critical in the Navstar system. To accommodate users who universally use UTC time, the UTC to GPS time is sent every 12.5 minutes in subframe 4. As i wrote this info, UTC time is lagged 18.000000 seconds behind GPS time and no future leap second is announced.
Amazing tutorial . Thank you for the videos. it seems (based on the date of the videos uploading ) you have probably no time or plan to complete this great tutorial. Can you introduce any reference books or videos, etc that I (and other enthusiasts) can continue the GPS learning? Thanks in advances.
As it turns out, we are planning to start this playlist up again. We have about 500 playlists on this channel with about 100 that are not complete yet. This is one of them. We are now systematically going back to complete these playlists while also putting up new material. I have been doing the preparation work so we can shoot some additional GPS videos.
This series and your explanations have been incredibly valuable. What a cliff hanger! I understand you're busy and may have to wait until you retire - I just hope that you retire soon!
For someone working 90 hours per week, we are doing our best to complete as many of the playlists as possible. It is a slow process that will take many years.
Thank you. Yes, our time is very limited. We work several jobs and do these videos in our "spare" time. We do our best to try and cover as many topics as we can.
It is a matter of time. There are many topics that we are trying to cover and between working 3 jobs and making videos there just isn't enough time in a day. One day, we hope to continue with that and many other topics we still have to complete.
Kind of a drag that this series died suddenly like this. Understandable that you don't have the time. However, you are still making videos on other topics and posting them. Not sure what gives those topics precedence over this one. We've all learned a lot from the videos uploaded on this topic. Just wish you would have finished what you started.
With our limited time, we have to pick and choose which playlists to work on. One big factor is the requests from the audience and some topics and subject receive many more requests than others. The plan is to complete all of the topics as time permits. With our multiple day jobs in addition to making videos, we are stretched as thin as humanly possible.
Fair enough. Thank you for what you have produced already. I work in aerospace and your GPS videos gave me a quick jump start and were immensely helpful. I've brought coworkers up to speed on these basic GPS concepts based on your lectures. Your explanation of the generation of C/A code was extremely helpful. Hopefully someday you can go into P-code (and P(Y), M-code, L1C, L2C, L5,......).
@@MichelvanBiezen Lots of proprietary education documents don't even do GPS this much justice, but it really is a shame that you have prioritized other video content over this series. What you are doing here is unique and helpful, more so than other resources I've used. You should really continue with this series if possible.

When my work load lessens, or when I retire, my plan is to complete all the playlists. (I am currently working on GPS)
Extremely informative !
Cab't wait for the continuation of this series.

We will try to get back to that when time permits. Right now our schedule is very busy.

Why are both this series and the Kalman filter series unfinished? Is this a pattern I should expect in your other materials?
