Work with him to build a massive tank, so much easier to care for all your fish in one tank and then have a few grow out tanks. Go huge because you know one day you will so why start out small, go for the dream tank now. Those 2 tanks he has are awesome, imagine what you could do with some wood and universal rock and a huge waterfall going into the tank and plants all around it.
with your collection of fish , trust me , you gonna regret putting money into a pond , the top view is just boring unless its koi , best for predatory fish is a side view tank and a lazyboy chair in front of it, lol

Iv been using new life spectrum pro biotics fish food for a few years now with amazing results I use nothing else now

Ofr has a 4 foot maybe 5 ft deep pond and it's crystal clear now js it's possible to have a clear pond
Ponds are way cooler
