I have one of these! I will say that it's more than its features on paper. It's a fun, phenomenal writer, convenient to fill and clean, and most of all, a beast of reliability. It just feels special. I know it will last me a lifetime. I really think that anyone who has the chance to try it in person will understand. As for the similarity to the Conid Bulkfiller mechanism, they are similar but definitely different. The Kakari takes inspiration from a much older patent from long before Conid. The J-hook and floating piston unit of the Kakari allows you to shift the balance of the pen in your hand, as well as the capacity of the barrel. Does everyone need that feature? No, but there are definitely people who will appreciate it.

If you read both the century old patent and the CONID patent, you'll find that the Kakari does violate CONID's patent, but if I remember correctly, the patent may actually have expired by now. The older patent only mentions the detachable piston, not the method for securing it to the back of the barrel after filling; that is what CONID patented. The fact that the Kakari uses a Visconti hook-safe type system is irrelevant, because the CONID patent was broad enough to still cover that. People speak authoritatively on forums and Reddit about this topic, but it's immediately obvious none of them have taken five minutes to read the patent documents.

The filling mechanism is functionally identical to the Conid Bulkfiller (I have both). The implementation is slightly different in that the way the plunger is attached/detached from the shaft and how the plunger is parked in the rear end cap are reversed. On the Conid the plunger is parked using a bayonet mechanism and the shaft screws in and out of the plunger. The Kyuseido is the opposite - the plunger parks by screwing into the rear end cap and shaft is connected/released from the plunger with a bayonet. It's a bit convoluted to describe in words. Kyuseido claims their implementation has the advantage that the plunger can be detached at any point in the barrel letting you limit the ink capacity if you want. I've found this advantage to be mostly theoretical since the friction of the shaft with the plunger makes it very difficult to release the plunger and not have the plunger move forward toward the nib causing ink to spew. Both pens are beautifully made. The Conid has one advantage, in my opinion, over the Kakari: you can see the primary ink reservoir on the Conids so it's easier to see the amount of ink remaining before you need to open the plunger/valve. It's kind of a minor thing but it caters to my OCD 🙂. Conids are twice the price - if you can even get one - so OCD comes with a real cost!

@@Shak-MD The Bulkfiller's piston/plunger has to be parked in the rear end cap before the shaft can be released so there's no way to place the piston in some intermediate position. Pen World will have some Kingsize Bulkfillers on sale Mar 19. They typically sell out in less than an hour.
So you took a pen with a heavily-engineered filling system, and turned it into a syringe-filler with a shutoff valve. There is a way, using the filling system, to get a full fill: after the first fill, turn the pen nib-upwards so the air bubble is at the top, and while in that position, carefully push the piston until the air bubble is gone; then turn the pen over, put it in the ink and pull back the piston again all the way, and then disengage the piston and close the valve. That issue aside, I agree with everything else you said about the pen. I bought mine at the San Francisco Pen Show last August from the Gravitas pen table. Oh, and one advantage this has over a Conid Bulkfiller is that you can actually buy one without waiting for months.

I do enjoy seeing innovative systems, even, as if it seems to me here, a bit derivative. These innovations can lead to, well, the unexpected. That said, this seems a complicated filling system that adds nothing but steps to using an ink syringe to fill the barrel. Still, pleasant aesthetics, and the pen has a nib that delivers ink well. While watching the video I was thinking about *PenBBS 355 improved version* and the debates it generated. Innovation, it was said then, was not the system (quite old) but the build quality & craftsmanship of each pen maker.

Nice, detailed review. That flex nib is the star of the show! Not sure what is wrong with the converter in the in flex nib pen. CY is looking for a retail partner in the USA. He has a good product but some unrealistic ideas about sales volume and, as you say, the service pathway is not assured.

My Pen BBS 355 has a similar if not identical mechanism. The PEN BBS 355 been reviewed by Canadian RUclips Doug at his Inkquiring Minds channel . No doubt the Kyuseido has been built to a high standard and much more expensive than the PENBBS 355
It would be such a shame if someone put this mechanism in a non-transparent pen. One thing I found out later, is that the piston can be left at any point in the barrel to help with weight distribution, which is amazing. Maybe I'll do a short video showing that. I was pleasantly surprised, how the writing characteristics of the pen changes depending on where the piston is left.
It's a beautiful pen, and I really like the mechanism. Somewhat of a grail for me, and I'm very unlikely to ever own one. I'd love to see one with Ben's proprietary nib.

I often have the very very soft nib of Mag600 on the pen....it often touches the bottom of the bottle when dipped to fill. For sturdier nibs it is okay...but not for the soft one. So I eyedrop it. Plus...I often change the ink when finished, and opening makes it infinite easier to clear the old ink out. Great question.
Great question. The pen, being make mostly of Titanium is on the heavier side, but in a very high quality material kind of way. It is not back heavy because the grip section is also metal. One trick it has is that the piston mechanism [includes metal pieces] can be parked anywhere in the barrel. Thus, we can adjust the weight balance to an extent. I am going to make a video to compare this pen vs. the famous Conid King Size, and I will show this in action.
The know is a shutoff valve. It gives a good page or so of writing before drying out. I write big, so, that may not be much. Whatever ink is left in the nib and section allows for some writing. I open it so that it doesn't run out on me :). I hope that answers your question.
I really like the idea behind this pen, but I find the unadorned, long cap, just looks a little odd. It needs a clip, or some other decorations to break up the length a bit. Thanks for the details!
Most often you can find them in pen shows. They do come in stock often online too. But, yeah, they are expensive. I endorse Asvine V200 tbh. For less than the price of this pen, you can buy an asvine v200, buy a pilot custom 743, and put the nib in asvine, you got yourself a great pen :)
I am sure you had good intentions when you turned on anti-shake, but the outcome made me seasick... As for why you prefer skipping the mechanism and filling it with an eyedropper, even for the sake of the demo for this video - I don't really get that, but hey, I do what I do on my channel and you on yours :)
You are bang on! This was post production to stabilize the pen.....at the expense of the background. My hope is to learn how to completely remove the background....let me know if there is a trick besides greenscreening. As for filling, I did show how it is filled as intended...both with water, and on the side, with the ink. Then I proceeded to show how I do it for completeness sakes. Did you see that or maybe may have skipped. In that little piece where I show filling ink with the piston the stablizer functiin worked great. It is at 10:20. I really value this feedback. @@Shak-MDTrue' I skipped around and missed the first demo. so you are basically using it as a $600 "Japanese eyedropper" :) As for the background - I just don't move my hands as much. If you chromakey the background it won't look natural and clear/translucent parts of the pen will look really bad.. you do want a feeling of a desk. I prefer leather or wood in the background (like Doug Rathbun or Wasky Squirrel) But I saw it creates really weird video artifacts with a soft pattern, so instead I went with a more contrasty green cutting board like @DoodleBud uses, no compression artifacts and the background is not too dark or bright. Next I lock the exposure, autofocus and white balance, they should never change when I don't want them to, and I just shoot without moving the pen too much. Finally, the IS feature on a camera is for shooting with a handheld moving camera, it won't do anything when the camera is on a tripod...
Are the Conids no longer made? I have one, but it took the better part of a year to get it. Two things I disliked - no clip, and the loud scratchy sound it made. None of my pens make that noise. Nevertheless, you said it wrote well. The Conid has two ink reservoirs: a small one directly above the nib, and the larger visible one. When the small reservoir is empty, the Conid stops writing. I must open the valve between the two reservoirs for the large reservoir to refill the small reservoir. That’s a bit of a bother for me. Question: Does your pen have two reservoirs as well?
Great review and demonstration of this pens' capability. I have the black version currently in my rotation. It's inked with Waterman "Serenity Blue". I was concerned about staining the barrel and didn't want to try anything to "crazy" for my first inking. I agree that it's an expensive pen. But, to me, given the materials, craftmanship, 14kt nib and ebonite feeder, it's appropriately priced. For now, the only regret I have is I wish I could have purchased mine at a pen show, like you were able to do. Shipping, and FedEx "extortion fees" added $130.00 to the cost of my pen!
@robmc120 It does unscrew. However, it has an inner sleeve. The ink gets strapped between two pieces, and it is impossible to get out. Bleach came close, though.
True! Very expensive. But I have need very knotted by the quality of the pen and the nib. You are right, that there are many more affordable pens. Several are demonstrators, too!
What’s the point of having this interesting filling system if you ED fill it ? Won’t metal threads on the section wear out barrel threads by repeated unscrewing and screwing ?
Just to show a different means of filling. I also showed the proper way. I use ED filling when changing inks....easier to rinse. One can argue that pumping is just as easy to clear the pen. You are right. The threads may wear out....now you have me worries. But the cap also has threads that mate with plastic section! Time will tell. I have been using the pump when using the same ink 😀.

I would really like to own this one, but your cons are sobering. I’m a relative newbie and have experienced no adverse situations with my ten pens that would require service. Can you guess what is the likelihood of something going wrong with this pen? Would Pen Venture take care of it do you suppose? Pen Venture has a variation of this pen but I prefer the silver color of the titanium rather than the blue color in the similar version. I think the blue argues with the ink colors inside the pen whereas the silver colored titanium titanium does not.
This is a heavier pen. The likelihood of something going wrong is moderate due to fragile midsection. I say as pretty as this pen is, around 250 to 300 is probably a better price point for it - after a year of use. I wish they made one with proper clip. The new kyuseido pen has a faceted cap. Still, it is not a 600 dollar pen.. For the money, I would endorse a pilot 845, pelikan m1000, Sailor kop, or a used MB 149 over this. hope that helps.

Hey Fred. The curved nib is amazing. It gets more line variation than the Kyuseido. However, this pen is a different level than what I have seen before, not necessarily in a better way than the curved nib. It is just such a smooth grind---more of a semi architect and Naginata---somewhere in between. If you are looking for shimmering ink friendly, look no further. My TWSBI echo and Platinum preppy totally clogged with DI's Lapis Lazuli ink. This pen handles it like nobody's business. I say you give it a try. Just received mine and it is truly an engineering work of art- just waiting for my Dominant industry inks to arrive! Btw, CY is an amazing nib architect. I asked him to adjust for my particularly writing style and it is spot on. I noticed you placed a kaweco clip on the cap and as I have one that slips constantly on the kaweco bronze; is this actually holding up on the titanium cap and usable to clip the kakrari or is it slipping and only helpful as a roll stop? CY now has (in addition of the Kakari) a Kyuseido Kosumi, with a different (faceted) cap. BTW: both Kakari and Kosumi are technical terms from (the game) Go. This is an incredible pen.
I’m enthusiastic about these pens but I can’t figure out where to buy them. Pen Venture has variations of these pens but they are blue where these pens have the silver of the titanium. I prefer the titanium/silver because it doesn’t interfere with the color of ink that is being used; in fact it enhances the ink color.
"Please don’t use your Kakari pen as a dart or throw it with force, please only use as a fountain pen is intended. Please don’t microwave, put it in the dishwasher or dry in an oven". Does this happen often?

I have the PENBBS with this filling mechanism and it is THE WORST. My pen is not transparent, you do everything by feel. So never know where the plunger is.
I ordered the gravitas version of this pen in a Medium from Pen Venture a couple of days ago and it shipped yesterday. As of now I am also on the waiting list for the titanium version from Kyuseido when the fine nib is available again.
It is filled by both syrange and eye droppered in this video. You may have skpipped over 10:20 out of boredom? In the clip, I show it pumped with both water and ink [on the left].
Love the pen and the innovative mechanism and Ben’s pens in general, but his customer service support is pretty much equal to non existent and the communication experience is really frustrating. I truly expected much more than that, compared to other manufacturers. So keep that in mind if it’s your first pen from Gravitas! Take care 🖊️
Regarding Gravitas I have experienced in my own flesh how the probably deserved reputation among youtubers is inversely proportional to their customer service.
Not sure why you would eye drop this pen. It has one of the best filling systems of any fountain pen on the market (excluding Conid), so why bother buying a pen with this filling system, if you don't bother using it? Is there a practical reason you use an eye dropper, or is that just how you prefer filling this pen. Do you use an eye dropper for a pen with a converter?
Hello dear. Great question. I love the complexity of the filling system. The demonstrator acrylic is so awesome that makes most inks look super cool. So, I change inks frequently. Therefore, It is so much easier to unscrew it and hold it under running water. Very easy cleanup. If I'm using the same ink, I can use the pump. BTW, in the video I showed both ways to fill it, but I understand it is long and you can easily miss is :) 10:00 marks the correct filling. As for convertor pens, I eyedroper some. For example, the Magna carta Mag 600 convertor is very bad, and makes it skip and hard start, and raiload. So, I just eyedropper the pen. It works gloriously now :) Thanks for the questions. Cheers!!
I do not recommend against using the piston. In fact, I show how to use the mechanism with both water and ink. I just showed how I personally use it. The reason I use it like an eye dropper is that I often change inks, and opening the section makes it much easier to completely clear the pen of residual ink. Hi, I have added video chapters to the video, and there is a section on where and how to buy the pen. In short, you can either buy it from kyuseidotokyo.com, Gravitas web site, or one of the pen shows. My favorite method is the pen show if you can get to one. It is best to try many nibs they have and choose your favorite. Hope this helps.
good info. this is the second reason i do not like to buy pens over $50, what's the point when you get similar and high quality pens from moonman or artisen pen makers? there is a weird mania in buying brand names, like levi jeans or kia cars, whose engines tend to restrict oil flow to the valves so that they wear out in four years or less, (2005+). i'm sorry, but for those prices, i could buy a great pen, new computer, great writing desk and premium paper, and some left over for starbucks each weekend for a year. a friend of ours says higher prices must be evaluated on the nostalgia and other meaningful factors, and this has almost none of those. i truly feel sorry for you being invested so much into this pen and them havingvarrogant and terrible customer relations. since you are a collector, at least it will add value to your collection.
Interesting viewpoint. One that I do not totally disagree with. Past 100 or so dollars, it is difficult to justify a pen purely based on writing quality , and as you pointed out, nostalgia plays a role. As you also noted, it brings value to my collection. For me , it brings joy. I take pleasure in writing with a variety of pens, from free to thousands. I feel very blessed to have gotten this opportunity. Very nice looking but overpriced for a pen with no track record or extensive history. Also it did not look like it posted. For that kind of money you could buy a pelican or a pilot or something with a known reputation and even for a few hundred more you could buy a montblanc 149. Sorry I would pass.
I would say Fair enough. It does post, but cap is metal. Weight is nice. The build quality is better than all the pilots I have, and at least on par with M1000/M800. The nib is better tuned out of the box. It is not carrying the legacy of those big names, but it is an amazing piece of engineering. I think I would still take a 149 or M1000 over this, but aside from the missing clip, this pen seems flawless. However, with the asvine V200 in the market, I'd choose that over any demonstrator anytime! It is an outstanding pen. Have you seen my review of it? I do enjoy seeing innovative systems, even, as if it seems to me here, a bit derivative. These innovations can lead to, well, the unexpected. That said, this seems a complicated filling system that adds nothing but steps to using an ink syringe to fill the barrel. Still, pleasant aesthetics, and the pen has a nib that delivers ink well. While watching the video I was thinking about *PenBBS 355 improved version* and the debates it generated. Innovation, it was said then, was not the system (quite old) but the build quality & craftsmanship of each pen maker.

Nice, detailed review. That flex nib is the star of the show! Not sure what is wrong with the converter in the in flex nib pen. CY is looking for a retail partner in the USA. He has a good product but some unrealistic ideas about sales volume and, as you say, the service pathway is not assured.

My Pen BBS 355 has a similar if not identical mechanism. The PEN BBS 355 been reviewed by Canadian RUclips Doug at his Inkquiring Minds channel . No doubt the Kyuseido has been built to a high standard and much more expensive than the PENBBS 355
It would be such a shame if someone put this mechanism in a non-transparent pen. One thing I found out later, is that the piston can be left at any point in the barrel to help with weight distribution, which is amazing. Maybe I'll do a short video showing that. I was pleasantly surprised, how the writing characteristics of the pen changes depending on where the piston is left.
It's a beautiful pen, and I really like the mechanism. Somewhat of a grail for me, and I'm very unlikely to ever own one. I'd love to see one with Ben's proprietary nib.

Can i ask why you choose to fill by eye dropper instead of the piston?
I often have the very very soft nib of Mag600 on the pen....it often touches the bottom of the bottle when dipped to fill. For sturdier nibs it is okay...but not for the soft one. So I eyedrop it. Plus...I often change the ink when finished, and opening makes it infinite easier to clear the old ink out. Great question.
Are you planning on getting the second pump filler from them called Kosumi? It’s similar but has a more industrial and faceted cap.

Great question. The pen, being make mostly of Titanium is on the heavier side, but in a very high quality material kind of way. It is not back heavy because the grip section is also metal. One trick it has is that the piston mechanism [includes metal pieces] can be parked anywhere in the barrel. Thus, we can adjust the weight balance to an extent. I am going to make a video to compare this pen vs. the famous Conid King Size, and I will show this in action.

One question upon using this pen. Is it a must to unscrew the end for writing?
Has that ever been a problem or so?
The know is a shutoff valve. It gives a good page or so of writing before drying out. I write big, so, that may not be much. Whatever ink is left in the nib and section allows for some writing. I open it so that it doesn't run out on me :). I hope that answers your question.
on the plus side, because of the valve there is much less chance of ink 'leakage' if the pen is jostled or carried on a plane.
I really like the idea behind this pen, but I find the unadorned, long cap, just looks a little odd. It needs a clip, or some other decorations to break up the length a bit. Thanks for the details!

Most often you can find them in pen shows. They do come in stock often online too. But, yeah, they are expensive. I endorse Asvine V200 tbh. For less than the price of this pen, you can buy an asvine v200, buy a pilot custom 743, and put the nib in asvine, you got yourself a great pen :)

I am sure you had good intentions when you turned on anti-shake, but the outcome made me seasick... As for why you prefer skipping the mechanism and filling it with an eyedropper, even for the sake of the demo for this video - I don't really get that, but hey, I do what I do on my channel and you on yours :)
You are bang on! This was post production to stabilize the pen.....at the expense of the background. My hope is to learn how to completely remove the background....let me know if there is a trick besides greenscreening.
As for filling, I did show how it is filled as intended...both with water, and on the side, with the ink. Then I proceeded to show how I do it for completeness sakes. Did you see that or maybe may have skipped. In that little piece where I show filling ink with the piston the stablizer functiin worked great. It is at 10:20.

As for the background - I just don't move my hands as much. If you chromakey the background it won't look natural and clear/translucent parts of the pen will look really bad.. you do want a feeling of a desk. I prefer leather or wood in the background (like Doug Rathbun or Wasky Squirrel) But I saw it creates really weird video artifacts with a soft pattern, so instead I went with a more contrasty green cutting board like @DoodleBud uses, no compression artifacts and the background is not too dark or bright.
Next I lock the exposure, autofocus and white balance, they should never change when I don't want them to, and I just shoot without moving the pen too much.
Finally, the IS feature on a camera is for shooting with a handheld moving camera, it won't do anything when the camera is on a tripod...

Are the Conids no longer made? I have one, but it took the better part of a year to get it. Two things I disliked - no clip, and the loud scratchy sound it made. None of my pens make that noise. Nevertheless, you said it wrote well. The Conid has two ink reservoirs: a small one directly above the nib, and the larger visible one. When the small reservoir is empty, the Conid stops writing. I must open the valve between the two reservoirs for the large reservoir to refill the small reservoir. That’s a bit of a bother for me. Question: Does your pen have two reservoirs as well?
Great review and demonstration of this pens' capability. I have the black version currently in my rotation. It's inked with Waterman "Serenity Blue". I was concerned about staining the barrel and didn't want to try anything to "crazy" for my first inking. I agree that it's an expensive pen. But, to me, given the materials, craftmanship, 14kt nib and ebonite feeder, it's appropriately priced. For now, the only regret I have is I wish I could have purchased mine at a pen show, like you were able to do. Shipping, and FedEx "extortion fees" added $130.00 to the cost of my pen!
The extortion fees are terrible. I had to deal with UPS extortion fee once after buying from Europe......unpleasant.
None of the inks have stained mine yet. It is awesome how easy it is to clean. Shame on pelikan...their m805 demonstrator is impossible to clean.

@robmc120 It does unscrew. However, it has an inner sleeve. The ink gets strapped between two pieces, and it is impossible to get out. Bleach came close, though.

What’s the point of having this interesting filling system if you ED fill it ? Won’t metal threads on the section wear out barrel threads by repeated unscrewing and screwing ?
Just to show a different means of filling. I also showed the proper way. I use ED filling when changing inks....easier to rinse. One can argue that pumping is just as easy to clear the pen.
You are right. The threads may wear out....now you have me worries. But the cap also has threads that mate with plastic section! Time will tell. I have been using the pump when using the same ink 😀.

I would really like to own this one, but your cons are sobering. I’m a relative newbie and have experienced no adverse situations with my ten pens that would require service. Can you guess what is the likelihood of something going wrong with this pen? Would Pen Venture take care of it do you suppose? Pen Venture has a variation of this pen but I prefer the silver color of the titanium rather than the blue color in the similar version. I think the blue argues with the ink colors inside the pen whereas the silver colored titanium titanium does not.
This is a heavier pen. The likelihood of something going wrong is moderate due to fragile midsection. I say as pretty as this pen is, around 250 to 300 is probably a better price point for it - after a year of use. I wish they made one with proper clip. The new kyuseido pen has a faceted cap. Still, it is not a 600 dollar pen.. For the money, I would endorse a pilot 845, pelikan m1000, Sailor kop, or a used MB 149 over this.

Hey Fred. The curved nib is amazing. It gets more line variation than the Kyuseido. However, this pen is a different level than what I have seen before, not necessarily in a better way than the curved nib. It is just such a smooth grind---more of a semi architect and Naginata---somewhere in between. If you are looking for shimmering ink friendly, look no further. My TWSBI echo and Platinum preppy totally clogged with DI's Lapis Lazuli ink. This pen handles it like nobody's business. I say you give it a try. LMK what you think after you try :)

I noticed you placed a kaweco clip on the cap and as I have one that slips constantly on the kaweco bronze; is this actually holding up on the titanium cap and usable to clip the kakrari or is it slipping and only helpful as a roll stop?

I have noticed from experience that titanium pens tend to have much less grip slip than stainless, even with similar finishes.

CY now has (in addition of the Kakari) a Kyuseido Kosumi, with a different (faceted) cap. BTW: both Kakari and Kosumi are technical terms from (the game) Go. This is an incredible pen.

I’m enthusiastic about these pens but I can’t figure out where to buy them. Pen Venture has variations of these pens but they are blue where these pens have the silver of the titanium. I prefer the titanium/silver because it doesn’t interfere with the color of ink that is being used; in fact it enhances the ink color.
They are sold in many pen shows. Also, they are sold 2nd hand every now and then online on Virtualpenshow on instagram. Good luck.

I’ll be honest if I have the option to remove the section to fill, I’d rather do that. Ben has created a wonderful pen, but honestly it’s just easier to syringe fill.
I absolutely understand where you are coming from. I do that too, when I want to switch inks, as the pump is a bit stiff.
I have the PENBBS with this filling mechanism and it is THE WORST. My pen is not transparent, you do everything by feel. So never know where the plunger is.
Putting that in a non transparent pen is not wise 😞

I ordered the gravitas version of this pen in a Medium from Pen Venture a couple of days ago and it shipped yesterday.
As of now I am also on the waiting list for the titanium version from Kyuseido when the fine nib is available again.
Gravitas through Penventure is great idea. The titanium is great. The nib is tuned by CY to perfection.

It is filled by both syrange and eye droppered in this video. You may have skpipped over 10:20 out of boredom? In the clip, I show it pumped with both water and ink [on the left].
Love the pen and the innovative mechanism and Ben’s pens in general, but his customer service support is pretty much equal to non existent and the communication experience is really frustrating. I truly expected much more than that, compared to other manufacturers. So keep that in mind if it’s your first pen from Gravitas! Take care 🖊️

Regarding Gravitas I have experienced in my own flesh how the probably deserved reputation among youtubers is inversely proportional to their customer service.
Not sure why you would eye drop this pen. It has one of the best filling systems of any fountain pen on the market (excluding Conid), so why bother buying a pen with this filling system, if you don't bother using it? Is there a practical reason you use an eye dropper, or is that just how you prefer filling this pen. Do you use an eye dropper for a pen with a converter?
Hello dear. Great question. I love the complexity of the filling system. The demonstrator acrylic is so awesome that makes most inks look super cool. So, I change inks frequently. Therefore, It is so much easier to unscrew it and hold it under running water. Very easy cleanup. If I'm using the same ink, I can use the pump. BTW, in the video I showed both ways to fill it, but I understand it is long and you can easily miss is :) 10:00 marks the correct filling.
As for convertor pens, I eyedroper some. For example, the Magna carta Mag 600 convertor is very bad, and makes it skip and hard start, and raiload. So, I just eyedropper the pen. It works gloriously now :) Thanks for the questions.

Why would you buy a $600 piston pen and not use the piston?
Just buy a regular fountain pen with a clear section…..
I do not recommend against using the piston. In fact, I show how to use the mechanism with both water and ink. I just showed how I personally use it. The reason I use it like an eye dropper is that I often change inks, and opening the section makes it much easier to completely clear the pen of residual ink. I do have other demonstrator pens with clear bodies. This one is the easiest to clean.

Hi, I have added video chapters to the video, and there is a section on where and how to buy the pen. In short, you can either buy it from kyuseidotokyo.com, Gravitas web site, or one of the pen shows. My favorite method is the pen show if you can get to one. It is best to try many nibs they have and choose your favorite. Hope this helps.

good info. this is the second reason i do not like to buy pens over $50, what's the point when you get similar and high quality pens from moonman or artisen pen makers? there is a weird mania in buying brand names, like levi jeans or kia cars, whose engines tend to restrict oil flow to the valves so that they wear out in four years or less, (2005+). i'm sorry, but for those prices, i could buy a great pen, new computer, great writing desk and premium paper, and some left over for starbucks each weekend for a year. a friend of ours says higher prices must be evaluated on the nostalgia and other meaningful factors, and this has almost none of those. i truly feel sorry for you being invested so much into this pen and them havingvarrogant and terrible customer relations. since you are a collector, at least it will add value to your collection.
Interesting viewpoint. One that I do not totally disagree with. Past 100 or so dollars, it is difficult to justify a pen purely based on writing quality , and as you pointed out, nostalgia plays a role. As you also noted, it brings value to my collection. For me , it brings joy. I take pleasure in writing with a variety of pens, from free to thousands. I feel very blessed to have gotten this opportunity. Nice fountain pen - but very expensive (600-800 Euro in germany) and it is in germany a "no name pen" - so I prefer my PELIKAN M605!
You are right that it is unknown compared to Pelikan etc, and a bit expensive. I feel the workmanship is very on part with pens of a similar range.
So at the end of the day it's essentially a no-clip eyedropper, forget about the fancy filling widget.

Very nice looking but overpriced for a pen with no track record or extensive history. Also it did not look like it posted. For that kind of money you could buy a pelican or a pilot or something with a known reputation and even for a few hundred more you could buy a montblanc 149. Sorry I would pass.
I would say Fair enough. It does post, but cap is metal. Weight is nice. The build quality is better than all the pilots I have, and at least on par with M1000/M800. The nib is better tuned out of the box. It is not carrying the legacy of those big names, but it is an amazing piece of engineering. I think I would still take a 149 or M1000 over this, but aside from the missing clip, this pen seems flawless. However, with the asvine V200 in the market, I'd choose that over any demonstrator anytime! It is an outstanding pen. Have you seen my review of it? I just ordered a couple more 😀

I have much respect for penbbs craftsmanship.
We will agree to disagree regarding innovative. I challenge anyone to identify a similar filling system that I can buy new now days. I'm rather certain the only option is attempting to find and then purchase a much more expensive used Konid.
@@klt479a PenBBS 355 is only $35-45 USD and has this filling system. They’re very high quality pens as well.
