We head out to scout for lobsters less than a week before the start of Lobster Mini Season! It is important to go out early to check all your spots so you are ready on the day and to make sure all your gear is working! We were pleasantly surprised to find a lot of big lobsters!

I'm a commercial fisherman and I'm allergic to lobster but they're so fun to catch. That's a great idea that you do and go look at your spots. Can you believe I'm from Spain I live in Miami but all my family's from Spain. You're 100% correct everybody stay safe

I was snorkeling in Turks and Caicos recently and realized I can’t do it anymore! I had a pulmonary embolism and now my lung function is low. It’s sad to think I can’t but I will enjoy your lobster snorkeling and pretend it’s me, lol! Your diving for lobster videos are my favorite! God bless you and your family❤

I'm surprised you guys didn't catch n keep the Spanish lobster since there is no season or size limit for them they are open year round n so it the shovelhead lobster aka bulldozer lobster

I'm not an American, but from a foreign fishermans perspective on the other side of the pond: Never ever thank a politician for increasing allowed fishing. Always thank a politician for restricting fishing.
If the sea allows for taking higher yields, this is something that professional scientists have accomplished through setting proper quoutas and suggested good legislation, something the politicians know nothing about. Approving higher yields takes nothing from a politician - BUT there is a good chance that a politician will go against the science for votes and destroy the waters for own gains if people reward them for it.
When further restrictions are required this costs the politician votes. A good fishing politician will restrict when necessary despite this. That is what we should reward.
I have seen the extinction of so many species in my waters during my lifetime due to inaction by populist politicians and now we have almost nothing left. Don't follow in our footsteps.
Maybe your waters can allow for higher output, but always look at your waters and determine yourself if you have seen evidence of this increase in population in the water or if someone is fishing for votes.
You might still be dependent on the sea in 40 years. Your politicians will have made their fortune in the next election cycle and couldn't care less about your livelihood being dead in 40 years.
I don't care what Ron did, check out the supreme court's reversal of the Chevron doctrine. Basically all the limits, size restrictions and other fish and game regulations are going bye bye. It will be up to the state and or federal Congress to pass laws on limits, sizes, and seasons, not an agency.
What kind of snorkeling are y'all using to be able to go under water with it and not suck water threw it?
@@robinmarks1710 In the case of fish limits, it's a TERRIBLE idea to make congress (fed or state) figure out what should or shouldn't be harvested. They have no idea, they have no interest, and they certainly don't want to do what's right to make sure that the fisheries continue to produce for future generations. Congress can't see past their current term, let alone do anything for a future generation.
All that will happen is it'll waste their time and they'll just rubber stamp what the agency suggests.
I have avoided mini season for a long time due to the abundance of boaters that do NOT pay attention to the surrounding's
having several close calls with boats on plane within 75 feet of the flag out on the reef lines. We Shall See what this Sunday brings, might decide to check out the middle keys. P.S. always love your content, educational, even for this seasoned sea dog.

Closest thing I can do to go catch lobsters is the Crawfish and The Creeks here in Arkansas we have to go to the restaurant at the grocery store to get our Lobster

You just have to learn to use it properly! The water would come in if you breathed in, that’s why a lot of freedivers spit the snorkel out, but because we’re so shallow and not doing crazy dives we don’t spit the snorkel out

The new mini-season was created by a FWC executive order not a governor's executive order. In reality the governor had nothing to do with it. He didn't sign anything.
The fresh water layer is the release of water from the canals from the rain weeks ago…There is the same layer here in Boynton Beach 😢😮🫣

I don’t think that the Governor should make that decision. What does he know about the population of lobsters?
I would assume some type of department of natural resources, fishing, etc group tells him what the populations are. Of course, you know what they say about people that assume things, so maybe I am way off.
I would say he has more care about the American families than most so go enjoy rocket scientist.
