    Well nice, i stept down to a shortboard after optimising my Pop-up and cutting across the wave face and staring Turns on a 7'0,
    And now i chose a 5'11 shortboard, even thought it might be a big jump but i feel confident and i know i can do it, it may take a while to get it, but i have time and i spend a lot of time in the ocean 🤙

    Thanks, I like the bit about inside rail pressure. I'm gonna try this cause I tend to get rolled rail over rail when trying to angle the take off. At my break, the waves get steep pretty quick, and I have an 8 foot foamy.

      @@richardcaspian4414 Not a problem anymore, I got a 7 foot board, with sharper rails, and trained hard on land to get up faster, smoother.

    Thanks for explaining the pop-up. You're making the surfing life so much easier by explaining the pop-up. I struggle with the pop up for years. Your videos are definitely helping me. I wish professional Surfers on the championship tour in the world qualification series what actually explain their styles of pop up and what works for them and why they do a certain type of pop-up just be very helpful to the entire worldwide surfing community. Thank you for what you do hope to learn more.

    My question is: will the wave look like it's a vertical drop from the point where your hands are? Because it seems like when I'm taking off on a longboard I just glide into the wave. But on a shortboard it feels like taking off on a halfpipe with a wave about to break on my back!

    • @James-ip5gz
      @James-ip5gz 4 года назад +7

      Yes. Unless you're a pro or can paddle super fast, most drop ins on a surfboard are steep compared to a longboard

    • @MindSurf248
      @MindSurf248 10 месяцев назад

      They definitely are steeper, and timing is more important. The answer is though it depends on the wave you're surfing.
      If it actually seems vertical there's 3 possibilities for it seeming so.
      One it's not that powerful/hollow of a wave and you have paddled from too deep, you don't get into the wave till late, get caught in the lip qnd by the time you're popping it's too steep. This often happens when people over correct for slower pop up/incorrect positioning on the shoulder and try to brute force paddle into the wave from deep.
      2. You are too late for the wave and need to catch it a meter or two further back, or a meter or two to the side where it's a softer/slower shoulder.
      3. You're in the right position but it is q powerful wave and you are not arching your back enough and are too slow with your pop up.
      When you start getting onto barrelling waves like I'm transitioning to at the moment this last one will happen alot. But is also common when people are used to having alot of time on longboard and bringing their head down to the board OK fatter waves to get in.

    May i know the difference when using longboard and shortboard to paddle for a wave.
    I am transitioning to shortboard. When using longboard I often lower my upper body to increase the momentum needed to slide down the wave, but when I did the same on shortboard, the nose will sink into the water.
    I am so confused should I lift my chest up ? I do that , the board wouldn’t slide the wave🤯🤯

    Is there a way or is there a possibility that you have a person filming from in the water close up to your surfboard or drone the way that professional shoot video so that we can see the feet were up clothes actually in play in the water?

      Cloudan yeah, you're not alone trust me 😂. I've been working on my greedy beaver 6'6 for a couple weeks now and still can't pop up correctly... Going back and forth between the beaver and my 8ft waveform soft top until I figure it all out. I am a good intermediate kitesurfer, snowboarder, etc... And surfing is still the one thing that frustrates me the most because there is so much going on in this port. It's not only Physically hard, but also you must understand some fluid dynamics, physics, body position, priorities in the line up, etc... You'll get it at some point trust me

      Kinouille K yeah I need to get racks on my car so that I can bring my longboard back down to the beach I’m gonna learn the pop up for the shortboard on that then transfer back down. I have faith we will both get in one day 💪.

      @@luciddreamentertainment7045 Soft surfboard rack on Amazon. They are like 40USD/Euro (I don't know where you're from) and do the job no problem. I've put 2 x 8ft wavestorm on it and an 8ft TorQ and it was fine. A bit loud if you're going fast but definitely did the job for the price. I tried to sell the Greedy Beaver as I was getting frustrated but a shop around here told me not to and to rent their longboard for now so I can practice. They are all surf instructor and kept mentioning that it takes a few months but we will get there. So far, Kite foiling and surfing are the 2 sports that are kicking my a$$ haha. Send me a video when you finally get it!

      I would suggest going to a fish for the bouncy. Something a little thicker at the beginning makes the transition easier.
