  • 2 grams of gold picked off the hard pan in 20 minutes. It doesn't get much better than that. Some crevices may pay off a little better but you should not overlook what is at the bottom of the creek-bed. They say DIG-DEEP, for a reason. That is where the chunky gold is.

Increasing the amount of gold you find in every pan is simple & effective. First you have to do test spots to determine where the pay streak is. When the water is low you may have to dam up the creek to create water flow where you need it. As you make a trail for the light sands to wash down stream, the garnets, black sands & gold trail behind. You should make sure that the water level in the pool you are working has good water-flow through it. You may have to move rocks below the area you are prospecting so that the water level will drop to where you need it. You could be in an area that the water may have yo much drop. That might wash gold down stream a bit. You can change that by damning up the back of the pool to slow the water down. The end result should be, that the light sands are gone leaving more concentrated Pay-dirt.

That is a good idea. They would still fill in but that would make it much easier to find the bottom again.

Very rare. Maybe crevicing but in this situation it took me days to remove all the gravel to get down to a clean hardpan. I found good color the whole way but nothing like the hardpan.

Haha, If i could only keep the storms from filling in the areas I have cleaned down to the hard pans, I could get rich. Even though I build makeshift damns to try to hold back extra gravels, high water just back-fills my pools. But there is definitely good color on the creek bed.

put pressured treated plywood down and cover it with large rocks during winter season or when ever you leave so gravels wont get in your pools :D

Sorry Carson, at this time I am only on the East Coast. Would love to get out to CA some day. Would be nice to pan for gold out there before the Government kicks the panners out like they did the dredgers.

    great work - great videos
my 7 year old is begging me to go "gold mining" so im going to take him to twin rivers in nh this summer - is that worthy trying or should i look somewhere else in the area?

+konanoobiemaster It gets hit pretty hard there but you should be able to find a little color there. If you are into camping and want to go on a great prospecting trip, for you and your son it would only cost $150.00. Which is what I charge for 1 adult. I don't charge for kids under 12. Then you would have a great location to go to for years to come and lots of color in most every pan. Once I show you where it hides.

YankeeGoldProspecting I would be interested in doing this with you. I just spent 2 , 3 day weekends up there. Had a great time. Found some color. And brought back about 10 buckets of material to sift through in the winter months.
Let me know if you are interested in taking me to your spots . Thanks. Kevin
