See, IDK if she'd ever get a retro. First, she's already an SR level ship, and so far there have only been two SRs to get retros. Second, retros are usually meant for ships that fall into some specific categories. Either the actual ships underwent historically signeficant upgrades or their role in a fleet is so poorly/narrowly defined as to make using them a liability (San Diego). Eugen's role is to be a tank ship, which she does *very* well, and her gun damage is only lacking in comparison to other CAs.
She actually has a niche with 120 being out. She's good in W12 because of her okayish antiair and how beefy she is + she gets higher EVA thanks to leveling up. Though yes, she does need a retrofit.
I don't know if she really deserves hate that she's getting. I used her since the beginning and I'm still using her. Got her to lvl 110 few weeks ago. And got her affection to 200 also. She always had been in my fleet, and I'm not planning to change it anytime soon.
You can't unhear the Vielen Dank but you also cannot forget her yawning. Honestly get her with the right gear and the right combo can make her snatch mvp easily

She and my beloved Laffey carried me a lot until Portland decided Retrofit are in order...after that, Minneapolis/Mogami Kai and Portland Kai became my Vanguard with Super Ayayayayanami 3(Retrofit+2 Oxygen Torp MaxLV) as the permanent Boss Slayer. But even then, when I'm meet Boss like Kizuna AI and Bismarck Onee-sama I'm all about Staying Alive~ so my Lv105 Prinz is a go. Great mole, beautiful voice and seductive and most of all: *YOU FOOOOOOOOOL! GERMAN ENGINEER IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!*
She was the monthly login ship for the first month the game was out, so I had her pretty early on. She was a mainstay, and was one of my favorite ships for a while. I'm currently using her in my Grind for Roon Fleet.

I thought the first SR I would get was Eugen. I accidentally got Enterprise on 3rd day playing. I tried for Bismarck yesterday with 20 cubes, and got 3 more of her. I now have total 4 Eugens.
I've brought my eugen to D3 boss fleet during bisko event because of composition requirements for the map - 2BBs for backline makes better boss fleet than mob fleet when compared to BC+CV and 2 BB comp required heavy cruiser. I also was missing a "slight" bit of torpedo stat to sortie if I tried the other CA I have even remotely apropriately leveled for the map (portland), at frist I tried to smug in portland because "ermagherd muh DPS", and dealt with torpedo stat by swapping one of DPS CLs for torpedo one. iiiiiit didn't really work that well. Since portland was dying in seconds after boss spawn keepign her for "dps" was kind of counterproductive so I decided to try something else: St Louis on the front (DPS, evasion and stuff) Helena in the midle (for dps and radar sweep) with eugen closing in protecting mighty debuffer with her chest everytime I try to move vanguard back. To be honest, Eugen didn't really shine so far for me in a role of vanguard back-tank - she always goes down first, regardless of equips I tried to bring on, but let's just say thatwas kinda her role there to absorb hits that would otherwise damage helena.... I can't wait to see how tanky she'll become once I'll lay my hand on one of those researched high efficiency hydraulic rudders... (which at +10 will bring her evasion to respectable levels especially when paired with SG radar) PS. still best waifu - plated stockings for lyf!

Eugen is a lot of player's first SR as she was a newbie login reward bonus back in the day. (Not sure if that is still the case)... and she's a noob trap: You use her because she's gold, then you quickly realize she gets outdamaged by most of your purple or even blue vanguards and learn that rariry isn't everything (at least in early Azur Lane). So in that regard, she's just like Sandy; hopefully she also gets a retrofit one day.

I got warspite first and used to use her a lot in battle and I used to run around my brother screaming "BELLI DURA DESCPICIO". Btw she was my second 100 affinity ship, the first of course being laffey. But I saved the ring for her. And I just don't get people who think Akagi's laugh is creepy. Like, what do you mean, I LIVE for that laugh!

For short battles, she always mvps (used to be laffey and shiranui, but after I oathed her she suddenly op, even tho my other two vanguard ships have better gear than her). For longer ones, it be Jean Bart or Taihou.
I have a lvl 110, oathed (200 affinity) Prinz Eugen paired with a lvl 105, oathed Bismarck and a lvl 99 100 affinity (not oathed yet) Graf Zeppelin... No wonder Prinz never dies now, I mean it took a *ton* of damage to bring her down anyway, most never getting her to even half health, now she is... Almost indestructible... *YES!*

Situational, if auto, CL gunboat can outdamage CA, but if manual, CA almost always mvp. Enemy strenght also influence this, those lvl2 mob fleet that you can clear fast usually give mvp to CL, while lvl3 fleet almost certain mvp for CA, if, the backline didnt grap it of course.
Honestly now that we reached lv120, there are only a few good CAs that are usable; Mogami retro, Portland retro, Minneapolis, Saint Louis (PR), Roon (PR), Ibuki (PR) and maybe if we get it, York retro - and that's pretty much it. There are far more good CLs to use over any other CA mentioned above. But that's still better than the use for DDs, where the only really useful DD is Yukikaze - and maybe Meme-Teams Jintsuu+Ayanami.
Prinz Eugen. The very first SR I got from the build and still to this day my favorite ship over all. I even have her oath skin as well! I can't wait till I finally get my Roon and have them both tank everything.
For those who love her and wants her to be your main forever: -Triple 203mm (SK C/34 Prototype) T0 (Without any skill or barrage that needs high rof, just bring gun with the highest raw dps) -533mm Quintuple Homing Torpedo Mount T3 (Even though Eugen has low torpedo stat, her torpedo efficiency is decent, so boost the stat as much as you could which could significantly improve her output) -Improved Hydraulic Rudder T0 (With this and lvl120 you no longer need any HP Auxiliary Equipment for Eugen except for EX stages.) -Type 93 Pure Oxygen Torpedo T3 (The most efficient way to improve her dps)

Prinz Eugen was my starter along with Z23. She can last long if you put a lot of effort in enhancing and studying. I am at level 49 and she usually managed to last longer other than Hood, Enty, Hornet, and Belfast.
Okay i just found a new Iron Blood vanguard formation i wanna try for a while. Prinz Eugen, Roon and Admiral Huh-Hipster. I'll have 6 rotating shields when i am 30 seconds into a battle and even 9 a minute in. I know that the rotating shields don't really do a lot but they are at least some protection and to have anywhere between 2 to 9 shields on an already very tanky vanguard just sounds too perfect for me xD
One thing about her, If you level break her to 110 her evasion increases a lot like other CAs and her stats get a nice boost making her more on par with teh other CA but still not really offensive just a bit better (trust me i have her lvl 110 with maxed out gear)
im auto farming 10-4 mob fleet with solo portland and boss fleet solo oathed prinz, never saw PE's hp fall 50% also thanks i cant unhear that feeling dank too
Prinz is great if you're running a Tank Vanguard fleet, most of my firepower is on the backline, so i only need them to block incoming bomber and torps until i can spam airstrikes
While there are possible better candidates for outright tank (Zara with her better shields, Hipper with Vice Defense on top of unbreakable shield+better FP/TRP), when she gets a skin, all eyes are on her. She and Sandy are part of a group of ships which get something nigh-unrivaled but at the cost of their offensive stats. (Prinz HP, Sandy AA, Avrora her buff)
You know. It's kind of hilarious for Eugen and Hipper. In Azur Lane, Eugen have BB while Hipper have flat chest. In WoWS, Eugen have bigger health pool and a heal consumable, while Hipper have smaller health pool. In Azur Lane, Hipper is a violent tsundare. In WoWS, Hipper's gun have faster reload than Eugen. Coincidence? I think not. ;)
Prince of Wales. I'm leveling her up in the dorm and want to know how she works before I decide whether to relegate her to a backup fleet or put her in to either replace Prinze or fight alongside her
At this moment someone is launching an airstrike with Owarida Also in real life hood and prince of wales missed all or some of their shots and prinz eugen escape relatively undamaged
Mathematically, evasion gear will give her much more survival than a tool kit. Basically evasion makes each point of HP she has more valuable. Probably give her the beaver tag and a steering wheel. Also CA in later levels (post 100) are much better due to better evasion scaling. Hers goes up to 62, which is a huge buff.
The real only reason I mention toolkits is that her health + 1000 from the toolkits will have her beat several backliners in overall health. I normally stack evasion items on CAs... My Minneapolis usually sits at an 70-80 evasion (maybe a bit more once I level her past 110)...it's a nice thing
You have to level her if you want Roon. (Well, I have to anyway.) But she'll be at least level 80 by the time you're done, so you'd be done to forget about her after you have Roon, even though Roon is just Prinz Eugen's retrofit. But a retrofit where she gains the ability to match or even complement Roon would be great.
You don't really need her for Roon grinding fleet. I'm currently grinding for Roon and have Admiral Graf Spee, Deutschland and Leipzig on my vanguard. Tiptiz, without a main gun, on main. Had to take the main gun off her because she was getting MVP too easily with it and I wanted vanguard getting the MVP to make grind faster. Leipzig has slightly better oil consumption than Prinz Eugen so I think she is a viable choice. But I can see how Roon grind could be a pain without Admiral Graf Spee and Deutschland because there aren't many KMS cruisers available.
My combo for this would be my main fleet that I'm currently using. Prinz Eugen skill Avrora's revolutsiya Nimi's Firepower The backline would be consisting of Bismarck and Sovetskaya. It's pretty okay for the main story. But I'm sure I'd yeet Eugen for pvp fleet
Really good solo frontliner for backline XP fleets as she won't do much damage so never steal MVP and just survive everything. Extremely usefull when going for the iron blood reasearch mommys. Just throw her lvl 125 ass to 12-4 with repair kit, some extra evade/HP and a full 90 backline they will grind real fast these last levels in auto Also, as my first SR oathed, she got a special place in my heart
Graf Zep makes her a bit tankier...and Bismarck gives her more damage. She should in theory still lose to Graf Spee or Deutschland if put with the same backliners...but will beat the KMS CLs regardless.
Strange. When she is well geared, she gets MvP pretty often or keeps up with the other damage dealers. I would rate her as very dependable. I like her very much and was the second ship I Oathed after Belfast. Her design and seiyuu is amazing. That finger to mouth look is way more dangerous than it might initially appear. Edit: If she gets a retrofit, she would be top priority to me. Unless Belfast gets one at the same time, then I am screwed.
I can only hope she eventually gets a retrofit. You'd think she would, with how popular she is, or at least hints towards it. Hell, we got biscuit (Bismarck) before a Prinz retrofit.
Prinz Eugen is the ship that you really *REALLY* want to oath but can't for some reason or another. I have her at lvl.90 and I use her a lot but that's enough for me, even though I really want to take her further ;-;
@@aldyzero6676 if that's the case, A toolkit and a torpedo bulge would probably be best if you want the most health with benefits (you could do two toolkits, but the skills don't stack)
They need to buff Prinz Eugen, she doesn’t have to be equal in damage to the others, but make her shields more effective, or boost her damage to be at least more comparable, something... I want her to be viable, I have used her ever since I got her and invested heavily into her armaments, i’d hate to replace her.
Eugen is quite useful in boss fights in depsite of great defender. I would pair of Bismarck, Zepplin, Tirpitz, Hipper, and Nimi-chan or Roon in team. Nonetheless it depends of the stage. Oh by the way German word of Vielen Dank mean thanks what she said. Her barrier skill could useful. Quite sexy babe. :D

I got warspite first and used to use her a lot in battle and I used to run around my brother screaming "BELLI DURA DESCPICIO". Btw she was my second 100 affinity ship, the first of course being laffey. But I saved the ring for her. And I just don't get people who think Akagi's laugh is creepy. Like, what do you mean, I LIVE for that laugh!

Just give her the right gear and she will always be MVP, and that’s what it’s happening too me
For short battles, she always mvps (used to be laffey and shiranui, but after I oathed her she suddenly op, even tho my other two vanguard ships have better gear than her). For longer ones, it be Jean Bart or Taihou.

I have a lvl 110, oathed (200 affinity) Prinz Eugen paired with a lvl 105, oathed Bismarck and a lvl 99 100 affinity (not oathed yet) Graf Zeppelin... No wonder Prinz never dies now, I mean it took a *ton* of damage to bring her down anyway, most never getting her to even half health, now she is... Almost indestructible... *YES!*

Situational, if auto, CL gunboat can outdamage CA, but if manual, CA almost always mvp. Enemy strenght also influence this, those lvl2 mob fleet that you can clear fast usually give mvp to CL, while lvl3 fleet almost certain mvp for CA, if, the backline didnt grap it of course.
Honestly now that we reached lv120, there are only a few good CAs that are usable; Mogami retro, Portland retro, Minneapolis, Saint Louis (PR), Roon (PR), Ibuki (PR) and maybe if we get it, York retro - and that's pretty much it. There are far more good CLs to use over any other CA mentioned above.
But that's still better than the use for DDs, where the only really useful DD is Yukikaze - and maybe Meme-Teams Jintsuu+Ayanami.
Prinz Eugen. The very first SR I got from the build and still to this day my favorite ship over all. I even have her oath skin as well! I can't wait till I finally get my Roon and have them both tank everything.
For those who love her and wants her to be your main forever:
-Triple 203mm (SK C/34 Prototype) T0
(Without any skill or barrage that needs high rof, just bring gun with the highest raw dps)
-533mm Quintuple Homing Torpedo Mount T3
(Even though Eugen has low torpedo stat, her torpedo efficiency is decent, so boost the stat as much as you could which could significantly improve her output)
-Improved Hydraulic Rudder T0
(With this and lvl120 you no longer need any HP Auxiliary Equipment for Eugen except for EX stages.)
-Type 93 Pure Oxygen Torpedo T3
(The most efficient way to improve her dps)

Prinz Eugen was my starter along with Z23. She can last long if you put a lot of effort in enhancing and studying.
I am at level 49 and she usually managed to last longer other than Hood, Enty, Hornet, and Belfast.

Okay i just found a new Iron Blood vanguard formation i wanna try for a while. Prinz Eugen, Roon and Admiral Huh-Hipster. I'll have 6 rotating shields when i am 30 seconds into a battle and even 9 a minute in. I know that the rotating shields don't really do a lot but they are at least some protection and to have anywhere between 2 to 9 shields on an already very tanky vanguard just sounds too perfect for me xD

My waifu... also my MVP almost 24/7, I love her, main fleet material, and tanky AF
One thing about her, If you level break her to 110 her evasion increases a lot like other CAs and her stats get a nice boost making her more on par with teh other CA but still not really offensive just a bit better (trust me i have her lvl 110 with maxed out gear)

Prinz is great if you're running a Tank Vanguard fleet, most of my firepower is on the backline, so i only need them to block incoming bomber and torps until i can spam airstrikes
While there are possible better candidates for outright tank (Zara with her better shields, Hipper with Vice Defense on top of unbreakable shield+better FP/TRP), when she gets a skin, all eyes are on her. She and Sandy are part of a group of ships which get something nigh-unrivaled but at the cost of their offensive stats. (Prinz HP, Sandy AA, Avrora her buff)
You know. It's kind of hilarious for Eugen and Hipper.
In Azur Lane, Eugen have BB while Hipper have flat chest.
In WoWS, Eugen have bigger health pool and a heal consumable, while Hipper have smaller health pool.
In Azur Lane, Hipper is a violent tsundare.
In WoWS, Hipper's gun have faster reload than Eugen.

Mathematically, evasion gear will give her much more survival than a tool kit. Basically evasion makes each point of HP she has more valuable. Probably give her the beaver tag and a steering wheel. Also CA in later levels (post 100) are much better due to better evasion scaling. Hers goes up to 62, which is a huge buff.
The real only reason I mention toolkits is that her health + 1000 from the toolkits will have her beat several backliners in overall health.
I normally stack evasion items on CAs...
My Minneapolis usually sits at an 70-80 evasion (maybe a bit more once I level her past 110)...it's a nice thing
I love how I used all my gold bulins, thinking that I won't be getting Biscuit...then the game decided to give me Biscuit...two of them...

You have to level her if you want Roon. (Well, I have to anyway.) But she'll be at least level 80 by the time you're done, so you'd be done to forget about her after you have Roon, even though Roon is just Prinz Eugen's retrofit. But a retrofit where she gains the ability to match or even complement Roon would be great.
You don't really need her for Roon grinding fleet. I'm currently grinding for Roon and have Admiral Graf Spee, Deutschland and Leipzig on my vanguard. Tiptiz, without a main gun, on main. Had to take the main gun off her because she was getting MVP too easily with it and I wanted vanguard getting the MVP to make grind faster. Leipzig has slightly better oil consumption than Prinz Eugen so I think she is a viable choice.
But I can see how Roon grind could be a pain without Admiral Graf Spee and Deutschland because there aren't many KMS cruisers available.
I do, because my only KMS Cruisers are Prinz, and the Koln class.
I'm doing it with Koln, Karlsruhe, and Prinz.
My combo for this would be my main fleet that I'm currently using.

prinz eugen was the 4th heavy ship i built, i started playing 2 days ago. and i prinz eugen is staying in my first fleet.
Really good solo frontliner for backline XP fleets as she won't do much damage so never steal MVP and just survive everything.
Extremely usefull when going for the iron blood reasearch mommys.
Just throw her lvl 125 ass to 12-4 with repair kit, some extra evade/HP and a full 90 backline they will grind real fast these last levels in auto
Also, as my first SR oathed, she got a special place in my heart

Graf Zep makes her a bit tankier...and Bismarck gives her more damage. She should in theory still lose to Graf Spee or Deutschland if put with the same backliners...but will beat the KMS CLs regardless.
The amount of time I hear "hard to kill"(anything similar) make my disbelief even harder.
Strange. When she is well geared, she gets MvP pretty often or keeps up with the other damage dealers. I would rate her as very dependable. I like her very much and was the second ship I Oathed after Belfast. Her design and seiyuu is amazing. That finger to mouth look is way more dangerous than it might initially appear.
Edit: If she gets a retrofit, she would be top priority to me. Unless Belfast gets one at the same time, then I am screwed.
Depends on who else she has with her... She can easily MVP with two destroyers (unless it's the starters)

Prinz Eugen is the ship that you really *REALLY* want to oath but can't for some reason or another. I have her at lvl.90 and I use her a lot but that's enough for me, even though I really want to take her further ;-;

A toolkit and a torpedo bulge would probably be best if you want the most health with benefits (you could do two toolkits, but the skills don't stack)

They need to buff Prinz Eugen, she doesn’t have to be equal in damage to the others, but make her shields more effective, or boost her damage to be at least more comparable, something... I want her to be viable, I have used her ever since I got her and invested heavily into her armaments, i’d hate to replace her.

Eugen is quite useful in boss fights in depsite of great defender. I would pair of Bismarck, Zepplin, Tirpitz, Hipper, and Nimi-chan or Roon in team.
