We don't have gangs in Serbia, they are symbols of fan groups. This is a typical urban neighborhood where children grow up together and each block has its own school, kindergarten, store and playground. Life is very safe here because people have been socializing and playing since childhood. All classes mix here. and workers and doctors
That underground pedestrian walkway under the motorway is perfectly safe. I grew up there and often used it during the 1990s, the worst times regarding safety in Belgrade, nothing bad ever happened in it except local kids drawing graffiti and occasionally some drunk pissing in it
@@rockettravels1977 Belgrade and Serbia in general is very safe, in my 47 years from all the people I know personally the worst that happened was pickpocketing in public transportation, homes burglary and occasionally car stereos stolen. Crimes that result in personal injury are extremely rare and in the vast majority of cases are perpetrated by people who the victim knew. Mugging, stabbing, and armed robbery are so rare that when it happens media report on it. Car jacking hasn't happened since mid 1990s. Cars get stolen occasionally, expensive ones. Enjoy Serbia, as long as you don't do anything way out of normal you won't get harmed.
Its like soap opera. All interesting. Enjoy the ruins in Plovdiv. If you flying from Istanbul? Give yourself time . New AirPort is huge. Went through last year. Thailand is close now
Enjoy your appreciation of architecture. Nothing like some brutalist communist era blocks. People generally need to look up as they go about their day. You can see so much above street level anywhere in the world if you look. Estates like this in many places. Many looked good on paper but prone to problems as we unfortunately know.
Foreigners should never try to guess which blok they are in 😆 For an example, at 23:25 that was blok 63 jug (south) and you were approaching blok 64 south. The big fields in the middle are what separate south part from the north part of the blok. Its confusing for people who are visiting, but we, who grew up there, can skip trough your whole video and know exactly the location you are in. Still nobody from foreigners found the local to guide them trough these bloks (61-64), and it couldve been a very interesting video, a lot of history and details about them, and although they look almost the same, every building is completely different, the apartments as well, and there are many quirky features that give every building unique character and place to sit with a join, i mean beer..
19:25 RIP Luka, he was a sweet guy. Got hit by a car and passed away in the hospital. He was having problems with an old car and rich b!t$# was looking at her phone as she was passing the bridge at night, hit him from behind while he was pushing the car, and fled, as she knew that she can buy out the police (thats the Serbia in a nutshell for you). The cctv footage was deleted, even tho there are a lot of cameras on that bridge, only "one was working", thanks to the millions her NBA husband gave to the police. And those pictures are of course selected because they were too blurry to show the registration. A special place in hell for everyone involved in the coverup.
Relax! You are little scared, but you are perfectly safe everywhere in Belgrade! Opposite to the West, there is no crime, no gangs, no Muslims no-go zones, just regular working people. No gangs, graffiti are mostly soccer fan related. Belgrade is the safest city in Europe. You should go to new parts of "New Belgrade" to be amazed with new, modern buildings. After WW II destruction, we build those big blocks to accommodate people, so thats a reason why we newer had homeless people like you have today on the West, especially in USA...
@@rockettravels1977 Dont believe Serbs that praise this country, its not a safe place to live, these nationalists lied to everyone for so long that they now believe in the lies themselves. Belgrade is extremely safe city, we don't have "bad parts" of the city like western and USA cities! Women walk alone during the night without problems...
That is the kind of socialist housing communism gets you.... .. Serbia is a long way off EU membership and Serbian support for membership has been dropping....so they will never get the EU funds to start rebuilding ..

It just looks sketchy but Belgrade is very safe everywhere
It was a very nice area and nice people
Bloc’s what they call apartment buildings go back to the Soviet days.
