Lou was a NJ native like me. He played in the 40's and 50's and retired to study chiropractic and then w 4:28 ent into practice. He later started to play again in the 90's He met Johnny Smith in the 50's and they became friends. He was featured in the now defunct Just Jazz Guitar magazine many times.
Hello! So enough country guitar for now... time for a romantic ballad! I didn't really knew Lou Mecca before RUclips suggested it but he's great and I was curious about his style. Unfortunately there isn't much available from him. I would be curious to hear his "Bridging the Gap" record, but it's the only song I can find. I bet there would be a bunch of 'transcription's worthy' pieces in there. There are 2 used CD on the internet but they don't ship to Canada. If someone know how I can can find it, just let me know. Have fun!
Merci, Francois , for introducing us to another worthy and practically unknown guitarist. I noticed some similarities in this version and that of Johnny Smith in a few parts.
Hey Francois, always love your transcriptions! As a mainly solo guitarist myself, I often find myself searching through your videos for the solo guitar transcriptions. I wonder if you could make a dedicated playlist on your channel so they could quickly be found? Thanks!
