That's pretty cool but brings back nightmares of bucking popular on the landing when the bark is slipping. Like walking on ice!

When I was a kid we peeled hemlock bark and sold it to the tannery for tanning leather, the tree was left in the woods

This is well satisfying to do. My dad gave me a large piece of wood and a Smith & Wesson knife and I just peeled it off. I've never peeled that much, gosh.

We never sold poplar bark , but peeled thousands of poplar trees every year . Let the trees dry for a month or so , cut them to 100 inches and load them out on railroad cars. 20 plus cords on each one. Used car spring piece with many rolls of friction tape balled up on one end. Drop em, zip em , cut top 2/3 thru , so don't roll. Those were the days my friend !!!

As far as I know we was the first to peel poplar bark. We peeled it for the movie the last of the Mohicans. We peeled 20,000 Sq. feet. Then we took a load to Richmond VA. for a movie. We would cut a ring around the log ever 4 feet and then take wrecking bars and it would peel off.
