Tikoy is originally Chinese. But there is such a big Chinese Filipino community in the Philippines. ...tthey've brought their culture and food over from China, and Filipinos have loved it as if it were their own. TIkoy is both Chinese and Filipino. ... Its like how people say Spaghetti is Italian, but everyone in the world loves Spaghetti so it is both Italian and international.

We Filipinos used to eating with our hands as well, especially with fingerfood like Seafoods, and Chicken, but normally we eat using Spoon and Fork we don't use steaknife because we usually eat with soup and casserole as viands and we cooked our meats tender grilled or fried, so no need for a knife. Tikoy is a desert, brought by the Chinese since the 1800 of Spanish occupation. The tikoy you ate is with a Filipino twist so that makes it a Filipino dish or desert.🤓

In my family we would buy 5 to 8 kg of potatoes every week. We would make omelette with potatoes, menudo, mechado, afritada, mashed potatoes, boiled potatoes, potato salad, fried potato chips, the dishes are endless. It just depends on every family cooking tradition. So yes, we do have a lot of dishes with potatoes included.

Filipinos eat with their hands. The one who commented why you don't eat with spoon and fork is eithet not a Filipino or have not eaten "Filipino style" in a while. Or curious why a foreigner don't use cutlery.
We have a restaurant called "Kamayan" which literally means you "eat with your hands" in this restaurant. Because eating with one's hands is a strange thing to do for westerners.

Privet Sergei, we Filipinos have and consume potatoes too. But as ingredients on dishes, not as a staple food item like rice.
Beef, pork, goat, chicken, fish and seafoods are all consumed here. Sheep are not indigenous to the country so we dont have lambs available but are substituted by goats though.
Goats supply our white cheese too.
While tikoy on the other hand is chinese but adopted into the Pinoy food table on their new year's celebration(chinese-filipinos)

Where did the word “tikoy” come from? A columnist revealed in an article that the word is actually the Filipinised term of ti-ke, which means “sweet pastry” in the Chinese Hokkien dialect, the language most used by the Filipino Chinese community. The food is associated with good luck and prosperity, making it a popular gift during the Chinese new year.

Filipinos are also fond of eating beef. We have beef stew, bifstik, and bulalo (beef soup).
Filipinos can turn beef stew into goat stew too. lol That is what Filipinos do with goats, besides their milk/cheese.
We like to add potatoes in a dish like stew.

Man, I get hungry watching you guys eat. 😂❤ Hhhmmm .. Yummy!!!
You can also get Goat milk. And Goats are cooked or grilled. A dish called Caldereta is very delicious. An original Caldereta is with Goat Meat. I also always got Goat Milk and Carabao Milk as a kid.
