Using a virtual address is a good way to protect your home address. They cost around $10-$15 a month. Virtual addresses and business mailboxes are also a great look for your business.
One day I will be shipping and I can say this spoke to me.....I have been so scared about it. What I did plan to do first tho, was "practice ship, but for real" to family or friends and see how the process goes and how it all works and if the package makes it successfully.
I am trying to find the appropriate DOT stickers for shipping liquids that are not 4 inches. Do you have any suggestions for smaller DOT stickers that fit on smaller packages?
Virtual Mail Boxes are a great thing and they can widely vary depending on your needs. There are ones that will accept packages and returns for you, essentially you pay them per return. Others only take paper/documents that they can then scan and shred, sending you a digital copy.
Thanks again Erica. I'm working on the shipping part; but as far as address on the warning label for "manufacturing".. idk how to legally get around it. Any ideas?
You just need your city, state and zip code on the warning label under your manufactured name! They do specify that in order to only put your city state and zip code your full address needs to be available to find somewhere online though*
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo Thank you! This part has been seriously messing with me. Hmmm, alrighty, well, there we have it. I'll just need to launch my website sooner than I expected or something. I ran into another issue I'll state in my next video (recorded but will be edited and posted later today) covering what that was and it's a bit embarrassing tbh 😞; as well as what I am doing to solve it moving forward. I'm taking a half hour break from it and then back to work. I'll need to change my labels now b/c I've run in to weird people too 😅 and well, I have a family to protect. I'm seriously rattled though about it and it's making me rethink my whole sales routine/ possibly may end up dropping off locally or moving forward with shipping. I just don't have those supplies in full yet and am still small... Sounds like another video topic to me.
I have a question. I see all kinds of tins for candles. Lots of them holiday right now. How do I make my own tins like that? Are they manufactured and a machine prints them like that or is it a cricket machine that prints a print and the sellers apply it to the tin? I really want specific looking tins for the types of candles I'm making. Example: if you go to Amazon the DIY kits come with tins that are say constellation print and pretty. How do I make those?
I've heard of people contacting the return address for multiple reasons. Either 1. They do not like your business and want you gone, such as a competitor. Or 2. They think you are in violation of working from a home, as local ordinances vary. I've seen this on HOA stories of "busybodies" who go out of their way to find violations.
Yeaaahhh I definitely had that kind of experience. However I think they were mad because THEIR apartment complex didn’t allow them to have a candle business 🤦🏼♀️
As a former FedEx driver, I'd just like to say, it is sort of a misconception when it comes to drivers. Your package's REAL enemy are the PACKAGE HANDLERS at the warehouse. They throw, kick, punch, launch, etc.. all the boxes lol. As for drivers, while we may not be exactly "gentle" with packages we are also not going out of our way to damage them since its us who will most likely encounter the recipient at their homes when delivering. also, "fragile" labels on your box mean absolutely NOTHING, so save your money lol.
I find drivers vary widely. Where I live I have 1 regular FedEx and at least 2 new faces a week. The regular one is pretty nice, even will put the items under cover if it rains. The others? Well, not so much. Both of my 3D printers were literally thrown out of the truck or thrown to the door. One person even threw a package into the middle of the road out of the back before driving off. Thankfully that was a box of filters.
@@RoseKindred the new faces are "floaters", they cover a diffrnt route each day. They were mad becus they were gonna have a long hard day lol. I was a floater too and it sucked until i did EVERY route we had, then i liked it.
@@LAAM619 That Makes sense, just found it a little funny how the regulars seem to care about the packages but not others. Just thought to comment since you said the fragile stickers mean nothing. Yep, I order a lot of fragile stuff and unfortunately, a lot of it gets refund/returned. Can't complain too much, I mean, that is how I got a free 3D printer, just minor repairs.
@@RoseKindred yea, the regular driver is more careful becus its HIS permanent route and he likes it so he doesnt wanna get switched due to complaints. Also, he is probably just someone who cares. Lots of drivers do genuinely care.
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo I had a customer mail me a candle inside a Vanilla envelope. Was a 13oz jar with just hopes and prayers that USPS wouldn't crush it with a 70lb package inside a bin. Luckily it made it. But boy why risk that when a cardboard box is only $1.35
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo Same I screamed when I opened my mail box. ' Welp time to get stabbed with glass' Then contact them to let them know its broken.. They got so lucky. Legit just a plain Vanilla zero padding.

Erica is the best ❤❤❤❤❤
I work for usps and can assure you that it is completely fine to ship candles! 😊
Can't wait for your course!
🥰❤️
Thank you Erica, I didn’t even think about not using my actual address. I am definitely going to get a UPS or USPS box to protect me.
Thank you for sharing about the business mailboxes!! That’s something I had no idea about and I definitely need to look into!

Yes I highly recommend doing this! ❤️❤️

Very interesting!
You truly do make things seem so simple.....almost as if you've been doing it forever lol
Awww thank you! I really try to teach and explain things in a way that’s easy to understand! ❤️

@@MemoryBoxCandleCo I believe that as well. Some people can be petty.
Erika can I get a business mailbox at my local post office?
Hmm I don’t know if they usps does it but you can check! I got mine at UPS
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo thank you 🙏🏼
I saw you can't ship liquids overseas, and it sucks cause I wanted to start making room sprays.
Can you make a video on international shipping? I am based in Poland, and want to sell world-wide.
I do have an international shipping video! However it’s for people in the USA who are shipping outside the USA so I’m not sure if it’s the same 🤍
Shipping from Australia is so expensive internationally 🥺
