It’s a matter of a God not letting a mortal get away with striking against his blood, the Cyclops, Poseidon’s son, prayed of Odysseus’ death, to not deliver would send a bad message and set a bad precedent that you can strike against him and live.
I do too! Especially at the beginning he said that he got a reputation of being the cold hearted god and if he let Ody go (going back to Monster) mortals might continue to disrespect him. So at the end we could say that it's his pride what's stopping him?
I wonder, if Odysseus had said "I understand, you took from me those I considered brothers, I will tell the story of how you punished me and that I only lived to tell the story, that one should not mess with the great God of the Sea" or something like that, would Poseidon have "forgiven" him? Would he have limited himself to just demanding an eye in exchange for letting him go?

I'm actually crying how- I’ve never been able to hear Odysseus's mom sing the waiting part with his crew, like I knew she had to have been bc it's *her* part in The Underworld. But for whatever reason I can hear it loud and clear in this and it makes it hit a billion times harder. I love how this came out. This is what I imagined when I first heard the song. Especially the emotional portrayal from both Odysseus and Poseidon. Not to mention you did a splendid job with how the spirits helped him in the end.
UUUGGGGGHHH *GOD* I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DO THIS, I was waiting for someone to portray the ocean ghosts as being helpful and encouraging rather than working to drag Ody further into the abyss. The Underworld saga already established in its own way that the dead can only speak to the living in phrases they used in life, so this part of Get In The Water always felt like-- Polites telling Odysseus to calm down and get his bearings, Eurylochus urging him like 'hey, remember everything you have learned on your journey, and remember us. Live for us. Get back home for us.' And his mother reminding him "I'll stay in your heart" as in, "I will always be here and I will always love you, death can come another day." The crew opening the bag so he can get oxygen is just.... oh that's so emotional 😭 Thank you for blessing us with this GORGEOUS animation!
This is the first time I see the interpretation of the dead actually helping Odysseus. It is way more common the concept of hearing the dead as something negative or the dead wanting you to join them. I believe this interpretation might be further from the cannon (who knows, I might be proven wrong) but I enjoyed it very much.

Ok, this animation is fantastic, and there's so many little details to love. Poseidon having a hint of remorse on his face when he says "...I can't" is so good and something I think is intentional based on the vocal performance, but very few animators do it that way.
This is SICK! Fantastic character designs and movement and I love seeing Poseidon pondering his choice when Ody starts singing. Absolutely incredible job! 💖
This is actually insane. Oh my god. Poseidon’s design, the staggering amount of frames, the expressions via facial and body language…the colors, the lighting, the movements. It’s all so fluid, so cohesive. Poseidon’s body and colors changing as he prepares to strike. Handling the ghosts and Odysseus’ crew…having them fill his lungs with air using the bag was so inspired. This is honestly some of the best work I’ve seen out of ALL the animatics for ALL songs of Epic. I’m truly floored by your work. And as an artist, I can’t even begin to imagine how much work this took…the care and dedication SHOWS. We’re so privileged that you made this and shared this with us. I’m absolutely blown away. Ok, this animation is fantastic, and there's so many little details to love. Poseidon having a hint of remorse on his face when he says "...I can't" is so good and something I think is intentional based on the vocal performance, but very few animators do it that way.
I love this Poseidon design so much especially the way he made the trident out of the water.

This is actually insane. Oh my god. Poseidon’s design, the staggering amount of frames, the expressions via facial and body language…the colors, the lighting, the movements. It’s all so fluid, so cohesive. Poseidon’s body and colors changing as he prepares to strike. Handling the ghosts and Odysseus’ crew…having them fill his lungs with air using the bag was so inspired. This is honestly some of the best work I’ve seen out of ALL the animatics for ALL songs of Epic. I’m truly floored by your work. And as an artist, I can’t even begin to imagine how much work this took…the care and dedication SHOWS. We’re so privileged that you made this and shared this with us. I’m absolutely blown away. So, so well done my friend. Absolutely incredible. You should be proud.

The animation is SO INCREDIBLE and expressive. The expressions and body language pull me so deeply into the moment, and Odysseus is the most earnest I’ve ever seen him as he tries to appeal to Poseidon for forgiveness. “I understand what you mean, now - but please, isn’t this enough? Can’t this be enough?”

Yo. Having his fallen friends and family actively help Odysseus recover from the God Move instead of trying to drag him down with them is amazing. I feel like you can do something really cool with 600 Strikes since the wind of the Wind Bag flows through Ody and in general, this was amazing!

Really love your interpretation where while Poseidon is saying that he can’t forgive Odysseus, he’s slightly empathetic (I hope that’s the right word haha) towards Ody- I don’t think I’ve seen anyone yet depict him that way, and it’s such an interesting take on his character!!
