    If Valve ever decided to rework how players get new items, the contracker is the perfect way to slowly introduce weapons and playstyles. Simply expand the pyro contracts in Jungle Inferno to include every weapon.

      I think that they should make a "arms race" module on the contracker, where you get at least one non-tradeable/craftable weapon copy of each weapon in the game (maybe a Backpack Expander for f2p's so they don't get cluttered) so everyone can get the chance to try out new stuff at their own pace, learn more about the class and their weapon of choice.

    The one thing I'll give the drop system is that it's not linked to performance. The fact that I could play however I want in any server and not worry about losing out on in-game rewards, as small as they are, is great

    They need to increase the rare drop rates for craft hats, name/description tags, and paints. In 10 years of on and off playing, I've found about 8 craft hats, a couple tags, and a couple cans of paint. Meanwhile, another player who's played for 15 years with 6 thousand hours may have never gotten a hat drop once in their life.

    A huge thing I appreciate with the drop system is that it was recently fixed to drop hats much more frequently. I've found a couple basic ones just by playing normally, and it warms my heart to know that the F2Ps will inevitably acquire something besides a gibus.

    Your point at the beginning about Valve experimenting is bang on the money. Valve is probably best described as an R&D company that uses video games as a way to test/showcase tech or ideas. They make so much money from Steam, CSGO, and DOTA that they treat everything outside of these projects as a space for free experimentation.
    From a strictly monetary standpoint, no new Portal, Half-Life, or even Team Fortress is going to generate more then a drop in the bucket, so their only motivation for developing/maintaining such games is the opportunity to experiment with new ideas.
    All the devs basically abandoned TF2 because it's so old and janky that it became difficult to experiment in.

    There's a couple of ways you could fix the drop system honestly:
    1) Weighted odds. When determining what item the player should get from a drop, give duplicate items a slightly lower chance of spawning. Perhaps the more you have of a certain item, the less likely it could be to pop up?
    2) Guaranteed drops on level up. This would make it so you couldn't simply idle on a community server. You would earn items faster by playing the game.
    As well as that, you need to look at weapon smelting. The most obvious answer to metal inflation is create a metal sink. Something that costs a lot of metal, which is not achievable without metal. I think it would be cool if stat clocks were craftable with a ton of refined. They weren't tradable but could be attached on to warpaints, so your non stat track war paints could become stat track. Or maybe even a series of craft only warpaints. You could cycle the available paints every few months so that there's always a reason to keep investing metal

    What I suggest is that they could tie the weapon drop system to the levels you get in meet your match matchmaking: every couple of levels you get a drop, and there should be a little icon at the end of the xp bar that would tell you exactly what you would get. Every 20 levels or so it could be a hat. All of that non-tradable, but it would still be better than nothing: it would finally give exp a use, you would only get those drops on official Valve servers and there is no need to idle as you wouldn't be able to sell those items anyway. I don't think this system should replace random item drops, it will simply be more of a neat thing to work towards for new players

      @@TheFirestormable yea, but since there are more players currently, it's not that big of a deal. to this day I still dont have some weapons still and I cant be bothered to trade them, talking about medic I had crossbow super late. I discovered tf2 a bit before the new drop system and have like more than 1k hours.
    And honestly I think tf2 would need a way to use metal and make it disappear for some slight boon. Like i'm not a big trading guy but maybe account locked bags, hats, weapons and stuff. To this day I have like 2 or 3 cosmetics, kinda sucks you have no way to customize your character other than weapons without having to pay money. They could even make a bunch of new free cosmetics for this purpose

  • @Imirui
    @Imirui 8 месяцев назад

    One thing I think would change about the drop system is for the weapon drops to HEAVILY prioritize items you don't have. I get wanting to have trading, but it gets old very fast if you have one weapon you don't have and get your 15th enforcer.

  • @bobthebox2993
    @bobthebox2993 8 месяцев назад

    It'd just be really nice if the random drop system took into account which unlocks you do and don't have, in order to prioritise the few items that you're missing.
    Like, last year I logged back into my account that I hadn't touched till meet your match. I had 2k hours on the account, only to notice that I still did not have every weapon in the game (other than the ones released in jungle inferno).
    On the other hand, there were a few weapons that I had 5 duplicates of.

    I honestly think valve should readd these "legacy drops" idk, bring back crates that can't be dropped anymore so items don't become impossible to get, spells, strangifiers and chemistry sets are so cool, like it's such a waste to not use them anymore, to avoid players idling for them, maybe make it so only paid accounts could get them on valve servers, limit them a lot, it wouldn't break the economy

  • @redstonewarrior0152
    @redstonewarrior0152 9 месяцев назад

    Ok.
    So this was an idea I have had for a while now.
    Your next random drop has its drop time pushed up if you are actively in a match and it gets pushed back if you abandon a match before the game ends.
    So for every second you spend in a match your next drop happens a half second sooner than scheduled or something.
    Or something that would probably be a bit harder to explain but makes more sense in my head would be if your scheduled drop time gets pushed forward by x for every minute of play where x = 0.1(current time - scheduled drop time)^1.2 but that's just a shitty formula I thre together without throwing those numbers into a graphing calculator so some BIG tweaking may want to be done to make that formula do what I want it to. The basic idea is that the game will push your drop schedule forward less and less the closer you are to getting it.
    And then there is my idea for penalizing people who abandon matches. If you leave a game early, your next drop will be pushed back 10 minutes. The punishment will only apply for the first 3 games you abandon each drop so your maximum amount of extra wait time is 30 minutes.
    And shave the amount of time it takes to do a partner taunt off of the drop timing every time you do a partner taunt with someone on the enemy team. I want tryhards to know that friendlies are infact playing the game correctly.

    2._ f2p can trade weapons but they cant gift them or anything they can only trade for other uinque weapons this literally kills bots farming weapons because you cant just send your loot to your main account you only can send to a f2p account weapons for another weapons this also removes the shit of the scam and benefits the newbies (if they craft the weapon they become untradable just like normal)
    i trade my black box for a mad milk done
    3._if the system detects you play too much a single class then the drop system will consider that chance to increase give you mostly weapons of that class

    work it down to numbers:
    -let's say that the ultimate objective is to get every single player of TF2, every possible combination of unlock, tracker, skin, unusual, cosmetic, and festive variant possible, for all weapons.... every player would have a full stack of [everything there is to get]
    -let's also say that the player count freezes overnight... no ups or downs... the number becomes stuck until this conundrum is solved.
    -how many random iterations should occur, and how many duplicates would spawn, before point 1 can be true for all players?
    that, is the number to work out... that, *IS* a number, and is finite.
    that number, obeys a mathematical formula.
    *WHAT* is it?!
    ..... and once you have that formula, consider that the player count will NEVER be frozen, so each new player demands a new iteration of the model.
    *[that whole construct]* , is the answer to the problem
    can you even fathom that?

      For the frozen player count, the amount of anything ingame multiplied by the player count.

    • @bcn1gh7h4wk
      @bcn1gh7h4wk 9 месяцев назад

      @@attibotgd4123 it's not multiplied... it's raised to the power of.
      because it's not total amount of items... it's total amount of *tries* of item spawn, which themselves must spawn more items before getting the one you need.

    Now while I can, I will be talking about the industrial revolution.
    The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human being to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” countries. The industrial-technological system may survive or it may break down. If it survives, it MAY eventually achieve a low level of physical and psychological suffering, but only after passing through a long and very painful period of adjustment and only at the cost of permanently reducing human beings and many other living organisms to engineered products and mere cogs in the social machine. Furthermore, if the system survives, the consequences will be inevitable: There is no way of reforming or modifying the system so as to prevent it from depriving people of dignity and autonomy. If the system breaks down the consequences will still be very painful. But the bigger the system grows the more disastrous the results of its breakdown will be, so if it is to break down it had best break down sooner rather than later. We therefore advocate a revolution against the industrial system. This revolution may or may not make use of violence; it may be sudden or it may be a relatively gradual process spanning a few decades. We can’t predict any of that. But we do outline in a very general way the measures that those who hate the industrial system should take in order to prepare the way for a revolution against that form of society. This is not to be a POLITICAL revolution. Its object will be to overthrow not governments but the economic and technological basis of the present society. In this article we give attention to only some of the negative developments that have grown out of the industrial-technological system. Other such developments we mention only briefly or ignore altogether. This does not mean that we regard these other developments as unimportant. For practical reasons we have to confine our discussion to areas that have received insufficient public attention or in which we have something new to say. For example, since there are well-developed environmental and wilderness movements, we have written very little about environmental degradation or the destruction of wild nature, even though we consider these to be highly important.

    You’re blaming the wrong guy, unlocks inherently disadvantages new player by default whether it’s tf2 drops or any other games . Valve developer didn’t design the economy of keys and refs as currency, the community did. And pretty sure they knew the currency will inflate non-stop due to item drop existing.

    10:00 - sure it's convoluted but crafting weapons is kinda that "last bit." Also why the hell are there still "idolers" and idol servers if metal has become virtually worthless. Honestly they should just bring back chemistry sets or more crafting recipes or anything that treats weapon drops like materials cause that's what they really are when it comes down to it.

    I feel like valve should make their new cosmetics and add something what roblox tf2 did which you have to spend some money on a battle pass and you can get new valve hats and also maybe even new weapons and reskins?
