Hi Brian, this was another great video. Can you pls suggest a couple of handies which does DMR, APRS as well as the normal analogue 2 meters and 70 cm. 73s VU3TQT
Great Video!! I think APRS is one of the most underutilized parts of Amateur Radio. I would imagine you've been bombarded with packets since this video. Awesome! 8P6RC
Im getting into prepping and im wondering if there are kenwoods or comprable radios that can text? The d74 is 1,600 dollars and that's too much for me. Ive seen Motorola has a t800 text radio but im assuming its inferior to a kenwood.
This is cool af but texting belongs on phones there seems to be no privacy im new to ur channel and i just subscribed im huge radio nut not going to lie and there seems to be not very many people doing this on youtube
This is late, but could you pulse an APRS radio to radio? If so, only those synchronized would get that message. Not a ham, just thinking about freq hop from military
I live in Alabama and have been looking to get into Ham Radio. How do I find a place to take the test and find local help on getting started? Great channel Brian.
Hey Brian - I have watched all your videos, some 3 or 4 times. All are very informative. I have a question for you. I have 2 Baofeng radios but am now interested in going the DMR route. I read that some HT's are analog only APRS, and some are digital only APRS (maybe some HT's can do both). I understand the Anytone 787 with APRS is not fully digital APRS. What does that mean, and have you had any experience with that radio? KO4IPX thanks
You are doing great stuff for the HAM community with these videos, thanks Brian!
I took a break and ran to my truck to send you an APRS message (my first ever attempt at doing this) - KI5JCO
I’ve been looking more into dmr messaging the last few hours and then this shows up, cheers :)

So the text messages are read by everyone in range? No privacy?
Brian, thank you for your contributions to the community. I’m working my way through your videos and am learning a lot!

Great video, I did not have notifications on at the time, but if you do something like this again I would love to take part.
Good stuff! My kids and I learn a lot of cool things from your channel and have good times with the info. Thanks 👍
Thanks. I really want to get myself and some friends into this :)
You might have better luck with an external, larger antenna.
Always a great video !
That's a nice ht for APRS.
How can you text over HF?

Not every message needs to be a private one though. This has some pretty incredible uses.

If I wanted to buy a ham radio, like today, which would you recommend? No experience but fast learner
Posting for the algo

Very cool
I dont have a local club where I live.
I need to get my 2 meter license
The main obstacle is self
It sounds like my first modem.
Can a tech do aprs
Yes, as long as you can figure out how! Depends on your hardware
Damm ham radios are getting more and more high tech
I believe this technology was actually developed by hams in the 90s.
Nice.........
