The feels 😂 I know my guitar limitations and I've made peace with it. So glad to have seen them live in Glasgow recently. Just amazing to watch and appreciate 👍
I cannot believe I haven’t known about this band all this time. It has been all I listen to over the last 2 weeks. They are breathing new life into our favorite instrument
This is my absolute favorite part about doing these videos! Sharing and discovering new music that brings me back to when I used to exchange CDs with my buddies growing up! This band is something special, and couldn’t agree more that they are doing amazing things with the guitar! Such innovators on their instruments!
I am loving your reaction to this video and song. These guys are tremendously talented and their engineering and arrangement is so tight. Their videographer and cinematography and editing is top notch. There videos are thematic and tell hidden stories the more you watch them. Whole bunch of my thoughts on Polyphia. I really think they are breaking ground into a new type of music and arrangement, that doesn't compartmentalize music into a genre box. One recent thought I had was how they add more and more sunlight to the scenes as the video progresses, like the song pushes an idea to a climax then drops down and tries a new idea in a new place with more light and a more evolved sound. Finally released into the open sky and completed with the addition of Steve Vai/ Then, and this is my thought, the trumpet at the end is releasing the song into the air, with a wind instrument, like setting it free. Anyways, love your videos and especially the Polyphia ones. If you know ANYONE like them please let me know.
I couldn't agree more! There is so much going on that I probably missed a good 80% of it as I was in sheer awe the first listen! I've enjoyed many more listens since, and it gets better with each play!
I aspire to be half as good as slide ins and outs as these two are. They’ve definitely started incorporating more bends it seems. But goddamn that slide work by Scotty in particular is just out of this world. And Tim is an alien. Period. I refuse to accept that a human being can compose that opening monstrosity. It’s just all over the place. The precision required to play that at even half speed is beyond most guitarists. And he does the playing with his eyes mostly closed. He’s not human. It’s simply not possible. While you’re on the polyphia rabbit hole, check out Yas ft Erick and Mario from Chon. Not even specifically to react. Just for your own enjoyment. It’s easily become my favorite song of theirs. So much groove.
I’m with you. Tim is not of this world, and he proves it with every thing he writes. The fact he can write some so complex, so fresh, and still be super musical, AND groove. I’m beside myself listening to him. At this point, I aspire to not burn my guitars every time I listen to them 😂
If you like harmonics, check out alan gogoll mulberry mouse or any of them really. Really catchy tunes but face melting all the same. That guy does 1000 harmonics in a minute 🫠
Just read somebody's post about how it makes them emotional. I get the same way. This song, Playing God, G.O.A.T. and Reverie hit me in the feels pretty hard. I get a tear sometimes, I'm not ashamed to admit! 😂
Never be ashamed of it! I love the impact music has on me, and this has been such a blast sharing how it hits me. The first listen is always something special, as great music will take you on a journey. Polyphia is amazing at doing that at a musical, technical, and total band perspective!!
bonkers innit? i love non musicians reactions, but adore fellow musicians react, as we understand how fkn good this truly is. same smile when vai appears though lolx.
Absolutely insane!! I don’t know if it would be better to not understand how ridiculous these guys are, as it is disheartening at times to even try and play guitar after listening to them!!! 🤣🤣😭
I'm 48 years old Puerto Rican from Brooklyn New York... I learned to play rhythm acoustic guitar just so I could write songs cuz I'm a writer... I'm also a recovering addict and if it wasn't for music I wouldn't be alive... Polyphia literally makes my brain tingle similar to meditation or zoning out on Pink Floyd or some old Techno like rabbit in the Moon... It literally makes me cringe and smile and makes me warm and fuzzy inside not just because of the talent level but because you can see how much they love it you can tell how much they love their instruments and why they're so good at it... I think they may be some of the top four musicians I've ever heard in my life and I love music to my core from The wrecking Crew to Motown, from Iron Maiden to Prince( who was my favorite guitarist until I found Tim Henson)... I got to try to find a way to see them in Birmingham November first for my birthday... I've been a guy who dissected lyrics and writes songs all my life and I found music that just stirs me at the level of my DNA... It's quite ridiculous and as a person in recovery it's better than any dope they're selling out there
@@StanDotsethMusic Oh man, enjoy! I'm just getting into them also! Absolutely incredible music! The live performance in bangkok, Thailand is simply the best
If you really want some musicians that will make you want to quit playing guitar I suggest the Archspire - Involuntary Doppelganger guitar play-through. Dean Lamb and Tobi Morelli are insane.
Tim Henson always looks so laid back and chill as he shreds through the fabric of space and time it’s crazy
That’s so true! This guy is unreal, and makes it look so effortless. The stuff he does blows my mind!!
i like ur wallpaper

That’s so awesome man! I snagged a ticket to see them live this fall and can’t wait to completely give up guitar!!

my first time watching it... i was pretty emotional especially on the last part.
These guys are something special aren’t they!? They can do no wrong in my book!

Absolute masterpiece! I love how all 4 have their own personalised guitar faces 😅🖤
Hell yeah!!!

That’s so awesome my man! Music is such a special thing and love hearing your story! Thank you for sharing!
great reaction! I'ma throw a suggestion: Animals as Leaders - (pick anything from them lmao)
Awesome recommendation!! Those guys blow my mind and it’s been a while since I’ve checked them out!! Appreciate the note!!!
CHON - Puddle guitar playthrough. watch the guy in the beanie. you're welcome
Thank you for the recommendation! That’s a new band for me so I’m putting it on the list!!

Oh no! I don’t know if I can handle it! In all seriousness, I’ll have to check them out, as I’m a glutton for musical ego punishment!
