@DanJRice I can feel your love for the product all the way over here. Unfortunately, I don't lie, I knew before the tests but now the tests are in from TTC and the snapons are made of a better metal they did not snap or break under extreme testing like the icons. All that said, the Icons came close in most of the tests and that's to be celebrated and makes this wrench a great choice for the price to build quality ratio.

Overall, these are good wrenches, but a little overpriced for what you get. I don't go by youtube reviews because they don't always tell the whole story. And to be honest, if a reviewer says these are just as good as SnapOn for a fraction of the price, that's exactly what people looking at these wrenches wants to hear. I have a set of these, a set of Kobalt from Lowes and a full sets of Mac and SnapOn. Are the Icon's as good as Mac and SnapOn? Not even close. The metal they use is very soft. And this goes for all the other Icon tools I've tried. I'm going to say something that probably none of you have ever heard before, buy I'll explain why. You want tools that break. You'll break a Mac and a SnapOn, but you'll probably never break an Icon. The reason you want tools that break, is because if they don't break, they open up and slip, and usually damages whatever you're working on. A high end tool will snap before it opens up. Am I saying everyone should go high end? No. Unless you do this for a living, most people don't need that level of quality. If you are doing this for a living, and you work in an import shop like Toyota, Hyundai, etc..., you should be able to get away with Icon, or something equivalent. If you work on bigger, heaver vehicles, like American brands, you should get something good. You're going to need them. However, if you're smart about how you do it, you can save a lot of money. To start with, you hardly ever use SAE sizes, even on American vehicles, so it doesn't make sense to spend a fortune on them. Just get metric. Also, you don't have to start out with high end tools. Get an entry level set and save up a little each week, and buy them later on. And you won't be wasting your money buying the 2 sets. You'll find that sometimes you need 2 wrenches of the same size. Most of the time, its alignment related. Either way, you really can't go wrong with a high end set of combination wrenches if this is what you do for a living. You can't be a tech without them, and they'll see use every day. Also, if you want to get better prices, save up and always buy tools cash from SnapOn, Mac, ... They will usually give you a better price than if you make payments. Once you get known for buying tools cash every time, you'll get special deals. Sometimes tool trucks buy too much and are overstocked, or they have tools sitting around for a long time. My Snap On guy knows that I only pay cash, and usually have a lot of it on me, so I get some very good deals. Its not uncommon for me to get a 30-40% discount on tools they need to get rid of. So, if you do it the way that I do it, you'll almost never pay full price for tools. If you know anyone in schools like UTI, SnapOn gives students about a 50% discount in hopes that the student will continue to buy SnapOn after they graduate. So, if you know someone, give them the money and have them buy tools for you a half price.
@MrDillon2029 1st, it did not out perform Snapon in torque test channels in depth testing. 2nd, the metal alloy is not better, and that is the truth. The alloy is a mix of strength and budget, which made the wrench perform really well against the Snapon. Bringing the question is whether it is worth buying something a little better for that Snapon price? A fair question. One should never shill and be honest about the performance. The icon wrench for the price is dang dang good and comes close but not as strong as snapon. The Icon snapped under the extreme testing, and the Snapon did not.
@dropdog395 This is a great question. The steel alloy for the Icons is a mix of strength and budget, and I knew this before the torque test channel tested it. There's nothing wrong with this mix it's just that under pressure, it can snap, and in TTC tests under extreme testing, it snapped. The testing revealed, though, that for the money, these wrenches are awesome. In contrast, the snapon wrenches steel is a mix of strength and longevity, which produces an expensive tool but does not snap and can actually flex and return to its original shape. The steel alloy is the key difference, and the shape of the Icons is thinner than the snapon. In the end, none of this takes away that at this price point, the Icons got dang close to snapon quality cheaper, and that should be celebrated.
Well snap on doesn't make adds for hobo freight 😅 it's just a bunch of dummies making content. I have the set of icon wrenches, they are good but do not compare to snap on quality

Snap on got no market on these days any more !
lol if it outperformed snap on…then it’s better made than snap on
@MrDillon2029 1st, it did not out perform Snapon in torque test channels in depth testing.
I can see a “ICON TOOL TRUCK” cruising industrial and mechanic parking lots. In the future
Icon aka Carley tools 😂 u over paying if u going to HF to just get the same wrench
Carley or Carlyle ?
There not even icons there Carley tools 😂🤡
Obviously not as well built as the SnapOns? How?
Snap-on won the latest Torque channel test with actual tests that are used in actual labs
With snap on, you don't get five times the performance for five times the price.
Craftsman overdrive, you're welcome. $75
@mikeschmidt4800 my only issue is Craftsman still skips sizes.
