- How to calculate valley sleepers. Definitely helpful in order to locate your layovers. This was a very small example but it could be done on a much larger scale, and it can really speed up your work in the air if your cut guy can utilize one number (the span) and cut all your major components.

Out of all the videos I have seen on RUclips in regards to doing a sleeper, nothing comes close to this one
Accurate, and quick
Well done!!
Wow, thanks!
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for, I appreciate it sir
That’s awesome, so quick and to the point!
This video is awesome, I reference it occasionally. Thank you!
Thanks it really helps I was looking for something like this normally I work on cars but I work full time in framing 🤟🤟🤟 thanks and be safe bro
Awesome man thank you! I’m behind on videos but I have a few coming up. Hit me up with any questions that come up
what about the math to do the rafters that attach to the sleepers? I always mess up the bevel side
Can you explain or do a video if you are calculating sleepers with different pitches? The math will be different correct?
How do you do Thatcher with different pitch overbuild and existen roof?
Gratis video my friend
I mean great
Is the angle on the framing Square always 12 and the other angles is what the calculate says sorry to ask just a bit confused 👌
Yes if you use the “pitch” function it will always show you the rise number as it relates to 12” of run. Pitch is usually based on a 12 inches if run, So it’s implied that whatever you come up with there, your square will always have one end on 12. Hope that clarifies a bit. Haven’t had my coffee yet 😅
@@Redoakcarpentry thanks so much am uk joiner but still use inches every here is in metrics learnt so much thanks have a great wkd👏
Do u have to calculate different if you have two different pitches for instance your overbuild is 8/12 and your sitting on 5/12
Yes totally different for irregular hips/valley
@@Redoakcarpentry ok care to explain this quick inputs if not I understand thank u
@@Redoakcarpentry I finally figured out getting the jack rafters for overbuild with build calc for irregular pitches , if I can get the sleepers I plan to set the overbuild on the roof all prebuilt on the ground
Any tutorial on different pitches?
Woud you do a bastard hip roof please
A string and blocks is way easier to build over frames
Depends on the situation, if I can get ahead of my framers when I’m on the ground cutting I always prefer to have shit ready for them.
@@Redoakcarpentry you have guys sitting and waiting for you to play on your phone when I can just pack lumber that I need with a string and block and get to work no waiting. Solo framer here. I don’t have to pay guys when I can do it myself.
@@kickyourfaceandlaugh607 okay hotshot. I’m sure you have a great business model. I however, get to work at my own pace, do clean work and enjoy my day. I started this business so I don’t have to deal with bozos like you, all in a big hurry to fuck something up.
@@kickyourfaceandlaugh607you are the man!
