The umbrella rig is for sure on my bucket list for ways to catch smallies...just got a small jon boat and was looking forward to getting out on some smaller lakes to give the umbrella a go!

It's at it's highest power shallow - Yes - and also at it's highest percentage rate of getting hung up. Top that off with 20# fluorocarbon and you better expect some upset$$. Invest in some good lure retrievers if you're not using braid. I'm not disagreeing with the Z, but for those of us not offshore fishing in open northern waters, expect some heartache$ using fluorocarbon. 💯

Been living The Rig life for a few seasons now, totally your fault. Brute Brown Bass kill it, no doubt. But the SK rig keeps failing on me. Using 20 lb. InvisX and fish are breaking the arms off. Makes me crazy ! Btw hope May 1st turns out to be a good day.

I can't find these short arm umbrella rigs anywhere, only the SK bladed ones, where do you get these? In WI here we're only allowed three hooks, how would you rig this? Or do you just cut the blades off?
When fishing the umbrella rig in states that only allow three hooks like Wisconsin which arms would you put the hooks on? And would you just use blades for the ones that you can't put hooks on or would you rig up say dummy swimbait jigs with the hooks cut off? Thanks for all the killer info you put out. I've been binge watching all the zona lives on repeat during these crazy times.
yeah we are only allowed three in the tournaments out in cali. I throw the hang farmer BFL rig. solid rig.
@@ryankuiper4544 They typically eat the bottom 3 even in places like texas where you can fish 5 hooks. Go bottom 3. Middle if you can only use one hook.

I rig dummies with no hooks and generally I like my hooked ones to be the bottom ones.

Only when there’s some color in the water or very very heavy clouds.
What do you throw on strictly fluorocarbon and what do you throw on braid to fluorocarbon.
Generally I throw tubes on straight fluoro and dropshots on a braid to fluoro leader

How do you decide between a spinning reel or a baitcaster?
I want a lot of power when I'm fishing a bladed jib both in the rod and a reel. I feel that a baitcaster rod and reel gives me more power.
Why does strike king only make it with blades on it. I like the no blade model so much better. I even called Strike King and said something but who am I, just a short Italian guy.
