Expertly done video! And you are right, it took me a day and a half of failing, but then, I conquered it, and now my gathers are as beautiful as yours!
I just found you and I am so glad I did. I sent my old serger the Viking s25 to my sister because I was so frustrated with threading it. And I just bought a Triumph. So now I am hoping to learn how to use it with your helpful videos.
Thank you for this video. I am one who was always told not to lift the foot. You have improved my serger technique in one afternoon!! I have subscribed and look forward to watching more
That probably bc yrs ago you weren't suppose to lift the foot but the trick of cutting off a bit of fabric to get the fabric up to the needle was recommended.
I’m so glad I found you! I bought the Victory overlock and the Euphoria this past year. I am loving them both, especially the easy air way to thread them! I started off my overlock journey with my first one my husband bought me from Cloth World about 40 years ago. I rolled so many ruffles for my little girl! I really appreciate your showing how to sew a ruffle with the overlock! You explain everything so well. I’ll be watching all of your videos and following you. Thanks again! Kathy in Texas
I had a serger 30+ years ago, but have just taken up sewing again recently when I retired. I bought a new Baby Lock Imagine and am just getting into using it. Love your tips on the changes in serging techniques over time, and also your suggestions for quilters who are using a serger. Even with your technical difficulties, this was gold!!!
I have had some real frustration with my serger, sort of a love / hate relationship. I have just found your videos and I wanted to tell you that you have renewed my excitement with the serger and all its possibilities. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! I can't wait to watch more of your videos and try the techniques!
Thank you Deborah Cunham for your great tutorial on using the Babylock Serger❣️ I have had a serger for years without using it. I have watched your video and have learned so much. I am going to watch this again and then use the machine! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you so very much for this video🥰🥰🥰
My serger is sitting in it's box because I had nothing but disasters sewing with it. I called my serger "the beast" because I couldn't tame it. Now I know why, oh my, now I know why. Deborah, I am going to call you; the Serger Whisperer! Thank you dear lady.
I'm watching in 2021 and am learning lots of new tricks. I'm excited to be able to join in the 2021 Baby Lock Tech classes and learn even more, Deb! Thanks for all you do!
Great tips! I have a serger but never much call to use it other than overlocking edges of fabric. I have forgotten how much you can do with even the most basic of sergers.
Overall super helpful video! I know you are just getting started with filming, so just giving some feedback - the lighting in some shots makes it hard to see what you are doing, also when you show what you sewed - hold it to the camera a second or 2 longer. Definitely gave me so many answers ~ thank you!!
Enjoyed the video. You mentioned something about needles. I have an older Babylock Evolve, and searched locally for serger needles and could not find them so I ordered some online. Can the overlock needles use regular sewing needles?
So glad I have found you!!!! So many of my dilemmas answered! Question on the neckband (21:52 approx) - what do you do with the chain stitch threads at the beginning of the stitching? You didn’t bring them around and sew over them in the video, but is that what you should do?? Thanks so much for all your wonderful info!!!!
Great tutorial! I had troubleshooting and expend hours looking for a solution online and it was just the needle that wasn't in the right position ! thank you
This was a great video. I learned so much that has been a pain in my previous efforts. Love this. Will definitely be here next week! (I already have joined your FB group and very much enjoy it too.)
I have recently been given a BabyLock Evolution. I printed the manual but it’s not simple to apply. The giver requested I make her a few (4) simple quite “stretchy” material dresses. I need to take a pattern off the dress she gave me but…Do you have a video that will help me get the best use of my Evolution? I’ve never used a serger before. THANK YOU!
When you use ruffler when making a pattern with specific cut size pieces, attaching ruffle to dress for example how do you get the ruffle to gather the right amount so that you don’t run out of ruffle fabric before getting all the way around the dress or have too much of ruffle fabric left over when you get around the dress to joining spot?
Sorry to be late answering this. The problem is that it is very hard to estimate how much fabric you will need in a ruffle. For attaching a ruffle as you speak you may do better to gather with 4 thread overlock and pull up the gathers to fit the dress.
@@deborahcanham2618 Thank you very much for getting back to me I appreciate your input. Do you have any recommended settings were doing or thread Overlock to gather? I’m assuming that you disengage knives?
I have just found you. Your overlocker is quiet. I have the Brother 1034D and it’s noisy. Can you give me any tips on hemming blue organza with an overlocker. I tried it with the rolled hem and it just pulled away afterwards despite the stitching itself looking good. Someone on one of my groups said they always had the same trouble with the blue. Much appreciated if you can advise me on this. I did get some woolly nylon which I’ve not tried yet, should this go in a looper or would a wider overlock be better.
Firstly try using a smaller needle. Then increase your stitch length. If you have trouble with pokies use a wash away stabilizer on top and then wash it away afterwards. Imagine your organza is a piece of paper. When you pierce it with your needle you are creating a perforated edge which may cause your stitches to tear off. I have a video on this on my public page Deb Canham Studio - Serger Sanity on Facebook. There are a number of videos under the video tab.
@@deborahcanham2618 thank you so much for your quick and detailed reply. That’s exactly what I meant on what I thought was causing the tear away but didn’t know how to explain it. I shall look on your Facebook to. Many thanks. 💖
You can use any needle in the 01 and 02 spots however you have to use an EL x 705 needle in the Chain and cover positions. The recommended needle is only essential in Cover and chain
