  • Jamie was 2 years and 10 months old when he started ABA therapy at AP Singapore. Before receiving ABA intervention, his parents shared that he only used his words to communicate very sparingly. Even though he knew some words, he often grabbed their arm or took them to something he wanted without making eye contact. Although Jamie was generally able to listen to his parents, he would cry and have meltdowns daily, especially when his requests were denied. This was a concern for parents. Jamie only liked playing with his older brother and parents but not his younger sister and peers. He would often push them away and scream when they approached him.
In this special 1-year recap, we review Jamie's progress in the last 12 months, including various programs we have taught him to equip him with the essential foundation skills he needs. Watch how our team concentrates our efforts utilizing our Autism Partnership Method #APM to teach Jamie essential skills that can truly build upon his learning ability. From addressing his disruptive and interfering behaviors to building a strong behavioral foundation and teaching Jamie critical skills such as emotional regulation, communication, self-help, social, and play skills. More importantly, we have also taught Jamie "learning how to learn" skills which are often underemphasized in treatment and education, as many take for granted that children know how to learn (or will acquire it on their own), but that is not always the case. By teaching Jamie these valuable skills, we can help him be truly independent.
We have constantly exposed Jamie and all the children that come through our doors at AP to socialization and move them to group learning as soon as they are ready. In this video, you will see Jamie gradually initiate socialization, play, and move from 1:1 therapy to learning in groups. These are all building blocks to ensure that we can help Jamie be ready for school.
