Bro..😂. You could go SOOOO much faster with a tech suit. The buoyancy is actually insane, so you can just use all of your energy towards pulling forward. But the don't last long at all, and expensive as f, BUT, if you are on a fairly elite team, teamates pass down suits.
I am a elite level swimmer myself and I can't seem to understand how Honey (an olympic swimmer (the best of the best)) in the video says she can get her suit on in around 10 minutes. When I get my new suits from Arena and Mizuno they take aound 4-6 hours to get on the first day. Is mine too compressive or does she just prefer a small amount of compression, unilke myself who is a sprinter..?
Hours are definetly a wayyy too long time.. Watch if you really got the right size when you buy one and watch the arena tutorial (scan the QR Code in the Box) how to put it on. And before you put it on stretch the material with you hand and if you are putting it on do it with little steps like if you would put on some leggins... I ordered the Arena Primo Suit a few weeks ago and only needed like 12min for the very first time and whilst competition about 3min and honestly I think it shouldnt take so much longer.
If there is a difference, it must be minimal in performance... if so, by how much? Everything the swimmer said was subjective and has no scientific bearing whatsoever. Where are the objective measurements?
Oh it changes a lot - probably the most important is your body position - especially girls and women. There could potentially be a minimum of 3.4% drag reduction which is a lot
@@brianquigley1940 When you wear the suit, it has internal taping on the back which is able to lift your legs up to the surface which ultimately provides a better/snappier kick
Compared to boxers, it’s an incredible difference, seconds on a 100m, difference with a speedo are way smaller, but still significant especially in the elite category. Some would argue, it might be up to half a second per 50m. I know that after getting mine, I swim PB after PB.
Honey is a honey, she looks good in the swim-suit, but Alasdair does not look like a swimmer, he looks more like the blokes who sit in front of the TV - and watch the Olympics. One project I've been working on, mainly inside my head, not really practically, is a "new swimmers outfit", maybe similar to the swim-suit, but more elaborate, it entails a new fabric, made of "polystyrene foam" - it could be harnessed from an old esky, some made entirely of foam, some with the foam inlaid, just grab the foam, make a "swim-suit" out of it, making the swimmers "more buoyant" - it's the style of thinking of the "marine mammals" like the seals, walruses, whales, orca's, elephant seals, penguins, fairy penguins, emperor penguins, and dungog's, they all seem to have a very, very buoyant "body composition", they have FAT, FAT, FAT to FLOAT, FLOAT, FLOAT, something to think about, something to consider. Apart from the polystyrene foam swim-suits, I'm considering making "swimming-gloves" - that have FULLY-FINGER-WEBBING, and are somewhat similar to the style of "football goalies" gloves, making the hand seem "twice-as-big" except with the added "finger webbing" between the swimmers fingers, causing tremendous "water-grabbing-abilities" (WGA) Finally I would also consider a "foot extension boot" (FEB) that you just slip-on, like a shoe, or like a boot, enhancing the size, the width, the length, and the "kick ability" of the swimming athlete, it is not like a "flipper" - it is disguised as a "Human Foot", you could even get different tones, maybe even get a "tattoo", which doesn't even hurt, the best for the fairy penguins. LAST WORD: As I am an Aussie, true-blue, even though I was not born here, doesn't matter mate, I'm still a "true-blue" Aussie battler, sometimes even working as a "spark"............................................................................................................ but mostly working as a genius, conceptualizing massive money-making ventures, that have sparked BILLION DOLLAR COMPANIES, and I have seen, ESKY-LIKE FLOATING ABILITIES, in some of our athletes, or should I say Marine Mammals.

As a swimmer, these suits do help a little. 3-5%, which is still very significant in the world of swimming.
Nonsense. Recent improvements are minimal. This is mostly marketing.

How long until these get banned?
They've been going for 14 yrs
@@PP-3b2ox bit late to be doing a report on them then
They won't get banned, they are not super suits; much cheaper to make and not as fast when swimming in them.
All swimmers should just swim totally natural
haha agree, however my guess is private parts would cause a lot of drag depending on the size !!

How faster are they as compared to swimming in boxers and nude?
Faster than nude. Thats why they linit how much of the body can be covered
A ton, they help you float, and they squeeze your body a lot for hydrodynamics.
