Thank you for everything that you do on your channel. I spent a lifetime wondering what was going on with me, why I was so “weird”, why a I felt like I was a house with British wiring sitting in the middle of Chicago. Now I know.

I generally find most Neuro typical a draining esp the ones you want to interact with you only end up hurting them. So I just focus that pain into stuffs that make me feel happy and less lonely.

    For everyone who doesn’t know:
Asperger’s syndrome is still diagnosed in the UK and Europe. We don’t follow the DSM5 over here we follow the ICD10
Next year the ICD11 comes out then childhood autism and Aspergers goes under ASD, but some will diagnose in the “old way” for a time. It’s never a quick switch when these ICD updates come out.
Now although we have ICD we do also borrow from DSM so since 2013 some people would have been diagnosed with “ASD”, or “childhood autism” or “Aspergers” :)

I was diagnosed with H.F. Autism and Left Temporal Lobe Epilepsy when I was 33 yrs old, I'm 56 now, and I can relate to everything you say
👍💯 I am either full throttle obsessed with something, or have no interest at all..I do it right or I don't do it🤨 Music, and music trivia is my 💕 love🎶🎶🎶I'm also obsessed with etymology, the origin and meaning of words, especially names.
    Blessing to my tribe ..

Diagnosed gifted (high intellectual potential), and actually on the way to be diagnosed Asperger Syndrom. (I am 33)
I am obsessed with etymology too since this year, the meaning, it's crazy how everything is connected. And also obsessed with typology/MBTI, stuff related to psychology since last year (since my depression). And synchronicity.
I am French, and my personality type is INTJ (I function mainly with intuition)

I am being assessed for Asperger's/Autism, and I don't define myself in regards to the entire "introvert/extrovert" dichotomy; for me, it's not that I necessarily am extremely "introverted".
I can be quite "extroverted" when I am in a comfortable environment, or around people I resonate with. I tend to avoid some/many (neurotypical) people because their interaction styles, and the things they find important, appear shallow and trivial to me. They go on and on about the color of their neighbour's house, gossip about other people for ages, and so on. And this is supposed to be interesting and rewarding... I have learnt how to mask and feign interest; I know what to interject to make it appear as though I care more than I do. (Because, if I don't, I'll be accused of being "arrogant", "thinking I am better than other people", etc.) I return home from these social events and nap, though, because I am exhausted from sitting there and having to pretend to care about all of this.
I can have rewarding interactions without talking about my special interests, as well. It's all about whether the opposition can provide something of interest. Tell me about your interests; what drives you? What are some experiences you've had that constitute you as a person? What are some unique experiences you've had that aren't even close to anything I've experienced? THAT is interesting to me! I want to hear about that; I don't want to hear about what you ate for dinner the last week, how ugly you think your neighbour's hair is, and how weird you think this and that person is. (A neurotypical person once started ranting to me about how annoying autistic people are, all the while I sat there, masking.)
This is the interesting thing about autistic versus neurotypical communication styles, to me: when they go on and on about trivial, "everyday" information/events, it appears to be the exact same experience for me, as it is for them when I talk about my special interests.

Anyone else have issues when people try to explain things to them? I have to write things down as people are talking so I can actually comprehend what they are saying to me. Some instances are worse than others.

Yes. Sometimes. For example, if I am having a computer problem and someone needs to tell me how to do something I need them to actually have me DO it or it doesn't get translated by my brain at all. I can't just sit and watch them do it. I have no idea of what they are saying.

Hello, I have aspergers and wanted to see if you could give good job advice. I work currently at a famous Guitar company fixing and tweaking the guitars. BUT, I have sensitivity to loud noises. We have Power Drills, Air Hoses (Loud), Amps for the guitars and the people who tap the pickups to make sure there working All day. On top of that, the company culture is to small talk through EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION. I never had a Factory Job before and now I'm regretting it.
    P.S.
Also I (And co-workers) are all from the Spanish Culture, my culture doesn't believe in mental health let alone Psychological and Mental Problems (as they see it).
Please make a video out of these points I've brought up and Please help us on the spectrum not make these mistakes and where are good places to work or resources for that.
    Thank you

you know in France it's not called special interest but "restrained" interest. So I'm the type who finds "understanding how whatever's in front of me works" to be what interests me. I don't need to go in depth so long as I get how it works overall (might be that nice ADHD I have too). Let's just say the "experts" on Asperger discounted my diagnosis immediately 'after hesitating when they realized I was an adult woman...

Could special interests also be phases? I go through different phases, for example, I will be interested in the 1950s, and obsess over the 1950s housewife mannerisms and schedule, and then will want to live that out for a while, until I become obsessed with something else, such as playing SIMS on my PC, and alot of these phases I tend to go back and forth with.
