- 2005 Cadillac STS with the 3.6L LY7. It won't crank with the ignition switch. Some hack shop already sold the customer a starter and a battery. the engine will run if the ignition is "on" and the starter manually powered up. On this car, the instrument panel module is the power mode master and is responsible for waking up the other computers on the hi and lo speed GMLANs. The IPM is sending the wake up signal to the ECM, yet it still isn't communicating with the rest of the computers. Let's see what we can glean from the Tech 2...
I have the same issue on my 05 sts 3.6 and it's been killin me!!
YT-YUNGTEXX troubleshot it down to a bad engine control module. Put a new one in and it was all gravy. It was between that and the instrument panel module because that’s the power mode master for this car, but it was working right.

What do do? I have a srx - 05 3.6 v6 and this anti theft led is on and key is stuck. I need to take off the minus from The battery and put it again like 4 Times and then the car will start. Please help. Im from another country
Why upload this video without a result or fix? If it’s not cranking and starting then it’s either a starter relay, the alternator, a bad battery, or the starter (sometimes it’s the purge solenoid valve [if you smell gas when you turn the engine off or get out the car while it’s running after a drive]) anyway this video was no help whatsoever to anyone sorry bro but it’s the truth
ok dude. probably of no help to people who think its as simple as a battery, stater, relay, or "purge solenoid valve" (you mean evap purge valve i hope). Maybe go find a 1981 with a tree fiddy to work on.
What was the fix for this???
Engine control module was bad. It wasn't responding properly to the power mode master, which is the IPC on this model.

Got a Cadillac srx 3.6l not starting was using the wire trick to start it now not working! I don't need my car comforts I need my car to run!!!
I'd imagine the engine control module has crapped out even more. Check fuses and relays first though, because this wire "mod" is powering stuff up in an order different from normal, so a voltage spike could have eventually worn out a relay or fuse too.
@@slowpoke96Z28 I have replaced the ecu 3 times had one reset and they keep craping out and now when I turn the key to on it runs the fuel pump. And the hazard lights blink and if you slam the hood the panic horn goes nuts

Georgie Presley I don’t do anything with ECUs...I just replace them and get on GM’s server for the VIN based software for it.
Can I bum your GM credentials? Got a lacrosse and an sts with bad ecu's in the crew.
