Thank you. It is sad that there is almost no such feature in phones. Now the question arises. And will it work without controllers and how much should I throw away...?😉😇❤
Have you tried with a dock station? I know I've tried the Rog Ally with the battery disconnected AND using a dock station and... ...it did not work, unless the battery is connected.
I have simple usb-c powered hub that has 100W PD (that actually delivers about 95W to the host) and it works fine on stock charger without battery with monitor and mouse and ssd. (www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B0BR3M8XHK/) However, always make a return-plan, so if something is not working as you expected, just return everything back to store.
If it is not your cup of tea, just sell it. Every device that contains a battery has a life span. When it comes to Steamdeck, the battery will eventually die, but i am sure it will have aftermarket support for several years ahead.
This is a weird video 😅 even for me who owns 3 steamdecks now why would anyone do this?? If you just want to dock it just do it without unplugging the battery 😂😂😂 what did I just watch😅😅😅
Well, as I tried to explain in the video - I’m facing the choice now: sell or keep. I have 4 old iOS devices and 2 old macs with the same problem: dead battery. iOS don’t run on charger with dead battery. Macs do. New battery costs more than those old devices themselves. With Steam Deck I expect the same, but sooner. Gaming devices wear out, and loosing their cost faster. So, to know if this thing is future proof, I did this test. I can also embed it into a car if I want to.
keeping it docked w/ the battery plugged might cause the battery to get damaged (shorter life span+bloating). happened w/ my mom's elitebook, as well as my old blackberry
Man, without even playing the steamdeck, you are having such fun with it. Cool!
