Anthology was the first album i bought with my own money at age 12, and coincidentally bass guitar was the first instrument i learned. as a 14 year old, i learned a lot of my beginnings of music from your band. always a fan of yours Tye. love these videos.

"The C adds a little tension, not a big deal", I think it's a very big deal and adds much more to the E/root resolve and makes it more satisfying. Honestly, it's very clever and that level of writing/contributing is very hard to teach (when to "break the music rules"). You said "Sea is on the g-string", I know exactly what you're talking about. She dances in Key West FL at the Red Garter, very talented women. I had no idea you had a YT channel, instant sub.

Hey Tye, not sure how often you check these comments. First off, I wanted to say thank you for uploading this, along with your other videos. I didn't expect to see the bass man himself showing how it's played!
Secondly dude, I just want to say thank you for inspiring me. Thanks for putting soul into your playing. The part in the chorus, where it goes from the A to C. That part ALWAYS got me. This song came out when I was 10, when I was only just starting to learn guitar and bass. I couldn't appreciate musically what was happening, but the way you described it was how it made me feel, and even now, 15 years on, it still gets me. Now of course, I can understand what you were doing musically, and that has helped so much with writing my own music and setting the sort of tone/feel for what I'm writing. Thanks Tye!

I love you for making this video, Tye. The subtleties really give the song an intellectual sound you don't hear in pop music anymore. From the song arrangement to the guitar acting only as support to everything else.. you really put this track in the top tier of its time. Really appreciate it man.

ive seen dudes jam on five and six string basses before... but the first time i had ever seen AAF back sometime in 2000-2001 this man was thrashing around one like it was nothing. i was super stoked to see such a large instrument being totally ravaged and still being played with so much articulation accuracy and precision. it was super boss. thanks for being way rad and making killer jams :)

Hey, Tye! For what it's worth: you were Alien Ant Farm to me, man. The side-lined front-man. You have a gift, bro. I hate that video didn't get you on camera more often. I think that, even though videos show you singing, while you play, they should have had an on-stage prop mic, so that people could gather that you are also the voice of AAF too. You F'ng rock that bass guitar, homie. And the vox!!! God bless you, man.
Also: there is a town, in NorCal called "Zamora", less than 10 miles from where I grew up, with the whopping population of 770!!! =D

yeah but your no Brian bozarth , your his God he he he . ty what's the name of your new band , and do you have any shows in O.C. can't stand a lot of riverside or mo valley , p.s. thanx for the primus cover band thing , if that didn't happen then aaf doesn't happen and lets face it brother vibe was great at high school parties.
(i.e back yards , UC riv. the barn) where there was always drunk brawls , but that was good when I was 16 - 19 yrs old and living in riverside or moreno valley ,where I and the majority of every one was violent and angry . I still wander if people from those days still act that way , or like me got out of that area as soon as I possibly could, grew out of that . nuff drunk rambling for me. I'm glad to see their playing shows , by the way is that Justin from "out of order" playing bass with them now cuz it reminds me of that time that terry left and their was that fill in guy from spider works or some other riverside band. I would love to check out your new band if your playing. in O.C. I don't care much for shows la or riverside, ya know like a brother vibe show ,I'm too old and a lot less angrier but still enjoy the booze. time to pass out I'm so drunk I wonder if ill remember this when i come to

I love this guy’s playing. Clearly knows his shit about music theory, but the space he gives in the verses of the song and using those low-E’s to accent the kick drum is great. Also for the longest time I assumed he was playing straight 16ths with his right hand on those chromatic descent, but nope. And throwing that C in the chorus was (chef’s kiss).
