April 1973.....I had a great time at the hotel in Liberty. I came from New Rochelle, NY driving a blue Olds 442. I am married now, but I still think of that time.

I lived on 100 South Main Street in Liberty NY. Over the supermarket, but the building is torn down now. Mr. Saks was our Landlord. Went to Pre-K in the Church across the street and then to Liberty school. Our family moved to Middletown NY when I entered the second grade where I remained until I graduated High School. So many warm memories.

So this is the city my family lived after leaving the country. Looks so depressing. Feels like I didn't miss anything and i'm glad I never visited them. Hope y'all had a great time there 😅

All of these areas have gone down the toilet since people stopped going to the big hotels like the Nevele, Browns, etc. Monticello, Liberty, Ellenville, and more have had large economic loss.

I went to several of those resorts in the 80’s-early 90’s. It’s sad that things have gotten so run down.

@@stever7157 Ellenville was the home of Schrade Knives with 2,000 employees and Channel Master tv antennas. Both closed down.

I knew Liberty , NY was a small town .It looks like a ghost town. It’s sad to see that the residents of upstate NY Catskills Sullivan county don’t fight to rebuild their town to make it a beautiful place to come to and live .NYC has rebuilt.

I used to work in Liberty almost 30 years ago and I didn't drive back then, I caught a Shortline from Monticello and back. So I never got to see anything else. Thank you.

Damn should come back and go through champlin/dixon/hadden/chestnut/north main st/marion/Winthrop/mill st/lake st/carrier would be coo but either way great content you should try turning your camera at an angle too it'll capture more of the houses and buildings and you can double back for the other sides

Liberty per capita is much worse than South Yonkers. Same thing with Newburgh. Not a place you would want to be caught at night.

My brother lives here now and although traveling through it looks like a cute little town, especially on the Main Street, it’s deceiving due to how dangerous the place really is. The street over from the nice Main Street sees regular murders and high crime and drug rates. And the woods surrounding Walmart just down the road, regularly has dumped bodies being found, that are often in connection with a Russian mafia in the surrounding area. It’s sad to see such a historic place go down hill so fast

@Creative Renewal Liberty has one of the highest crime rates within the hudson valley/catskills you guys have literal fact checkers at the fingers tips of your hands and yet you want to dispute facts if you yourself arent associated with anything that goes on and you mind your business then by all means but dont try to downplay a very serious issue at hand here which is liberty and surrouding towns are dumps, drug invested, and crime ridden it needs to be dealt with

This is my hometown... I still live in liberty .. I'm 46 and I was born in Monticello .... This is far from the hood... We suffered greatly after the resorts all closed down ... Family's don't wanna do the small town Jewish hotel thing anymore... Besides all of them are closed down , burned down or sold off to the hasidic communities... They have built their compounds for their cults they run in 90% of the old hotels .. this place was the ABSOLUTE BEST place to ever have gotten to grow up in And i for one am GREATFUL to have lived here my whole life ... We're trying to build up to what we once were but NYC crime and drug dealing have seemed to replace that small town enchantment.... Please don't insult what you do not know ... We are proud of our liberty ... And I for one hope it bounces back ...

"hood" declining architecture, drug dealing, crime etc. Isnt that what makes up a "hood" either way it's a shit hole could be a lot better beautiful land but let's be real small town america is just predominantly impoverished garbage that'll never get back to how they used to be

I’m from South Fallsburg , loved Fallsburg as a kid and teen just felt like home but after I graduated high school and everyone moved away and the town got new people mostly illegals never felt like home again . Whole county is depressing and rare to find nice people .

At 7:43 that street is called spring st .... They're very old buildings .. look to be original from when Sullivan county was exstablished ... I'll have to get back to you on when it as exstablished though as I do not recall .... I grew up here my whole life and was born in Monticello NY .... Liberty isy home town and I still reside here

Don't get me wrong but it is a well made video. But I had high hopes when I bought my home there on chaffee road 30 year ago. As they promised the casinos. And it was to late when it finally was finished much too late. The a few large manufacturing companies tried to start factories there and the town said no. Then taxes in up up up.. that was it.. Done I now live in America. It's hard because my blood my fathers blood and my off the boat grand pa 's blood is left behind in Ny state and city.. so be it... im free now.
