We used to be extremely creative with some of my horses who would suddenly decide they didn’t want to take their pills. Used to take a coffee grinder with peppermints, add the pills, grind up and add the food. Or we’d make hallowed treats of bananas, carrots and apples with either a little honey or molasses with a pill. They loved that. But we trained all our horses to easily take syringes since it was always smeared with a applesauce/molasses mixture. It’s amazing how their tastebuds can get picky and quick.
Put Duke's hoof conditioner up on his coronet band as well. About an inch into the fur. That is like our nail bed where new growth comes from. Moisturizing that really helps the whole hoof.
When I had to medicate a couple of horses under my care, I would crush the meds with a mortar and pestle. Then it stuck pretty decent to the grain especially if it was sticky sweet grain.
Any chance you can have an apple or carrot party and go around giving all the horses a nice juicy treat. I love to see them get something like that once in a while. Loved the lunch scene, wish there was more of those type clips. And also would absolutely love to see Buster and Rockies feed buckets get cleaned out nicely. I don't think I have ever seen them clean, one of them always has a bunch of straw in it, and nobody wants to have to stick there mouth through straw just to eat some tasty morsel of food.
Joel how are you and your family's bills going to be affected by the change to make it so you can no longer buy antibiotics at farm and/or ranch stores?
one question putting a tractor in a barn that has hay laying around are you not concerned that it might catch fire at night cause it can cause an issue later on down the road love the horses do not want anything to happen to them love the videos keep them comming
Are you planning t get more stable stalls, great for tucker. I would but tucker near Sampson, and ones who need meds in new stalls. Rearrange it for now. Then save for a new barn. Can you get financed with this channel. To the left of your gate for new barn of 8 or 10. Will pay off .
@@melissabraskey4322 I had a good idea they were both draft horses. I had never seen either breed that dark in color. There is a large Amish community about an hour south of us. Most of both breeds in that area are brown or a bit lighter color. The Belgians are much bigger there as well. Thank you for the reply.

It surprises me that the only water your horses get for 24 hours is up at the barn and none of the horses can get to it after they are let out in the paster.

The automatic water trough for the small pasture is accessible at all times. Joel shows the horses drinking from it at turnout. The large pasture has a large trough that is kept half or more full at all times. Joel shows all the horses drinking from that trough as well in most videos. However, there is a specific video that answers your question. If you go through and watch Joels previous videos, he does show the viewers the water troughs for all pastures. But please dont worry about the horses. My Sam pson and Tucker have the best life ever with all the necessities and love a horse could need. They are happy and well cared for by Joel and his family.

Just liquid is not such a good idea for breakfast. You are both doing hard physical work. Your bodies might start storing fat because you starved them during the morning. Though Grammy seems to make some very excellent lunches.
As a stable for hire, you are a commercial business. When it comes to electrical codes you fall under a different category than homeowner codes. There are things that your insurance company, fire Marshall, and building inspector look for. What I'm trying to say is that there are some things that you just shouldn't show on camera. There is no sense in drawing attention to yourself.

All of the horses have access to water at all times. Theres also fresh flowing water within the big pasture.
