(so i don't have to the math) would this equation 2:40 result in 4 solutions or would each two sets of ether equation created (when the absolute value is taken away) be duplicates? (9 and -1 twice?)
So every time I see an "absolute value = absolute value " I can erase the absolute value sign on one side, solve, and will still get the correct answer? Does this apply on every equations I solve?

How many of each type of coin does he have? #1.} [N + D = 19] #2.} [5N + 10D = 165] #3.} [D = 19 - N] #4.} [5N + 190 - 10N = 165] #5.} [-5N = -35] #6.} [N = 7] This isn't right, however, because 7 Nickles is 35 Cents and 12 Dimes is $1.20 They only total $1.55
Isabel Amaro You can't have an equation without a variable unless you know it to be true, for your case |1-4|-5=0 is not true. This is because the absolute value of |1-4| = 3 and 3-5 does not equal 0.
you guys should check out mathway if you are confused it will really help ed me with a problem you just hit the button where it says your problem at the bottom of the page write your problem in when it loads and you will get your answer, a tutorial and, the steps on how to do it you should really try it.
