Doing a similar job on 2 of my great-grandpa's corn knives is what lead me down the rabbit hole of making knives. Mine were even more pitted than this example. I used Evapo-Rust to soak them and then cold blued the blades. Made the scales out of some quarter sawn sycamore that I had. Just for grins I cut the necks and bases off of .223 cases and used them for the lanyard tubes. Hopefully someday they will make their way to a great-grandson.
That's so great to hear. Restoring knives and tools is so rewarding and a great way to honor family. I will have to try Evapo-Rust on a future project. Thanks for watching! -Kristie
This is the most calm and chill machete restoration video I've seen, nice job btw
Nice job - that old tool has some personality and a lot of years left if minimally cared for.
An old Collins & Co machete. Very nice.
Nice...good job.
Hey looks like you did a great job for your first go at it. It's nice to see a woman interested in restoration, very cool keep it up!
Thank you! It was a pretty satisfying project. Plenty to improve on, but I learned a lot.

Excellent restoration. I wish you chopped something with it though.
Awesome content! Keep uploading restorations like this and you could blow up, that handle looks super ergonomic for use
Thank you for the encouragement! I was very pleased with how the handle turned out, it's very comfortable. -Kristie
What grit of sand paper did you use?

That's a colings worth alot of money
You forgot the most important thing in the whole video 🙄. You should definitely try it.
Yes! I should have included that on the video. Maybe I will make a short follow-up video.
