@@w0rmblood323 I don't speedrun. I rarely, if ever, watch speedruns. I consume these WR History videos like there's no tomorrow. ThaRixer, Abyssoft, Salt, Speed Docs, all of them. They're so good and just getting a glimpse at a side of gaming I don't actively keep up with is so incredibly nice. Constantly in awe of the skill on display and how it evolves over the years for these games.
Hope it goes #1 on trending and y'all finally get the recognition you deserve
Love the content, really glad this got re-uploaded! I genuinely can't wait to see what's covered next! It really is a shame on "that runner". If you don't want your name out there on runs you have done, why not stay in your hole doing runs for fun and not post them if you don't want the recognition?

Wait so from what I understand, the video had to be redacted in some places because of the japanese TAS channel giving out a copyright? I'm so confused why one specific user seems to be replaced with beeps and monkey noises.
It's pretty hypocritical and pathetic, really. DKC3 is Nintendo content...and they made videos using it...and then copyright claimed the speedrun documentary? Are they really that oblivious to their pot-calls-kettle-black actions?
Money that's the only reason, they're basically abusing the copyright system. This definitely falls under fair use as the documentary is adding commentary and modifying the video
As much as we agree that what we did and how we used that runners video was in line with fair use, RUclips copyright claim system is in place to protect copyright holders and not content creators.
That was very confused for a minute there. I was listening to this while I was doing dishes and had to rewind it to see how they spelled their name. I legit thought the monkey noises were the runners name

The original video getting struck down is extremely sad, the DKC3 video was the first one I saw! I wonder what even got cut, did it got struck by a controversial DKC3 speedrunner? I hope someone downloaded it before the strike, hope this situation gets better
Whoever got it cut needs to look in a mirror. They're speedrunning copyrighted content and then have the balls to claim someone using THEIR footage? Very hypocritical actions from that black pot...
@@rabidwallaby84 a friend of mine had his entire play through of MonkeyIsland copyright struck with another person's upload. It's just people abusing the system.
So without naming the runner who filed for takedown...why did they file to have it taken down?

To me, this is horse manure. I am all for protecting personal information but a person who is doing something with the intent on being recognized by others should not have the ability to demand their name be stricken from the record. Now a glitch hunter is different because they don't have to tie a name to their achievements but a speedrunner who is asking for their time to be recognized on the record is explicit in giving a name. Alias or real name but a public persona name none the less.
The runner uploaded their PB to RUclips's copyright claim system, and had our previous video taken down. To prevent them for being able to abuse the system again, we removed all mention of them, while maintaining the continuity of the story. We thought this was the best possible course of action from an editorial perspective.

19:45 I remember this GDQ run, and now hearing about all the devoting and goals Morks had, it makes this marathon run overall kinda depressing.
I can't remember who, but the commentator for the run was constantly going off about how DKC2 is better than 3 in every way, including speed strats, and comparing it to Melee and Brawl just for extra cringe.
It got so bad that after the run he had to go up to the camera WITH Morks and say "No everything's fine with us" since it honestly did come off like this guy just hijacked Morks' entire run for his own weird-ass commentary.
Big ups to Morks for never calling him out on it during the run, never even did a "I need you o stop talking" thing, and overall he was very happy the whole time. Maybe he honestly didn't mind, maybe he was just so focused he couldn't care less, or maybe he was annoyed but knew it wasn't worth it to start something.
At the very least I really hope that co-commentator told him ahead of time or checked with him; because while I'm not a speed runner, I feel like if I'm spending a lot of time on a game I really want to show off that isn't super popular, having someone next to me go off on why it's not liked while I'm doing my best i incredibly rude.

DKC2 is my favorite platformer of all time, but dkc3 is up there. Besides Super Mario World, it's one of the first games I remember beating completely and really finding EVERYTHING before the internet existed. That 103% felt special. The DKC games are the only ones I've ever considered running just because I know them front to back

If this is not some weird April fools joke...who the heck struck the video? Those videos literally increase the reach of speedrunning, inside the community (showing off games people do nothing about speedrun rise, maybe even runners who now get curious about it) and to people outside of it, by explaining how tricks even work.
This would be beyond me, if true.

Little note here the japenese runner named weisses_schaf are actually two german words and mean white sheep. also the pronunciation is off, but im not to judge, just wanted to let you know. great vid!

Yeah. Hota has his hands kind of everywhere. Just comes in and sets strong times regardless of the game. He's still active today in the alttp scene and is like THE major glitch guy
You'd be surprised to know just how far Hota's influence reaches. He was arguably the best speedrunner of the pre-SRL age.

I wish more channels balanced their audio when inserting beeps into their videos. It's so much louder than the actual audio of the video that I can't even finish it without waking up every neighbor. Great video overall though.
I don't think you can reasonably blame waking up your neighbors on our audio balancing.
I was being dramatic. I do watch videos off an AVR connected to a TV so it's definitely more noticeable when you play it through actual speakers and not a phone, TV, or monitor.

I wanted to mention that the Japanese' runner "Weisses Schaf" or more correctly "Weißes Schaf" means 'white sheep' in German. your pronunciation was pretty much correct though.

I used to think it was impressive, when i had got a WR, for all 4 types of fighting games, ufc/mma, wwe wrestling, boxing and street fighter soul caliber, but its not that impressive when barely anyone runs them.
