    Hi Greg I've only just found your video two weeks after you uploaded it! (I was subscribed to so many other channels your notification was lost in the flood, I've now deleted all of the now unwanted subscriptions) good idea about pulling the wire straight. I've done it a lot with copper wire. I don't know how silver feels but if you pull a yard (metre) of copper wire you get a really good feel for the stretch followed by a definite stop to the stretching as everything locks out. It feels just like a mechanical dead stop, I've done it with 1/4 inch tube, square and round, using a leaver to get mechanical advantage and you still get that 'dead stop' feel but the 1/4 inch copper has to be very well annealed. After pulling, it's what I call 'twangy straight' as it's so hard. Thanks Greg When I show people the jewellery that I've made they can't believe I only started a few months ago. I tell them that it's all down to a good guy in America called Greg Greenwood. Thanks for all of your videos, help and encouragement. Kind regards . . . Andy

    Greg, you deserve so many more subscribers! Thank you for this! More questions for you:
    1) when you do the stretch after initial straightening in the vice, do you end up thinning the wire at all?
    2) do you have any tips for changing wire profile in a draw plate? Maybe just me but I have trouble reinserting wire to the correct side as it where when I pull through round wire to make it square. I’ll hunt through you’ll videos but if you haven’t made a video on this I’d like to request some tips re changing wire profiles effectively

    • @greggreenwood4628
      @greggreenwood4628  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hello Kat, Thank you for your comments.
      1. The wire does thin a little, but not enough to notice.
      2. Moving to the next draw plate hole can be a little bit of a problem. You normally have to re-file the end to a sharp point to fit in the next hole. When you move from round wire to square, you have to file the squared edges more to get a good fit. Also make sure that you line up the flat edges with the flat edges of the draw plate. This way, you don't have the wire twisting to re-shape the square.
      I hope this makes sense and helps you. Thank you for your question. Greg Greenwood
