    I can’t believe how much my drawing has improved since I started these exercises! Yesterday I drew a few cats, and they kept improving! I Well, they actually started to look like the reference photos. I started to draw the profile of a fox at about 2am. Forgot all about the time. The fox is beautiful! I can’t believe i drew it, and neither can my hubby. I used HB 2 Pencil and that fox looks real! His eyes look real! Tonight as I watched and finished the exercise and paused the video on your face, and started drawing you. I can’t believe how much that drawing looks like you! I paint in watercolor and this is going to help me immensely! I can’t thank you enough!I am learning to draw like this at age 70. Right now I feel like I could do anything!

    As a kid my drawing books said "NEVER draw the outside lines". The books had me drawing people as stick figures, then pipes then guide lines then detail. There was so much erasing it was a mess. Sadly I still have all those rules in my brain. I'm super excited for your lessons! I needed this 😊

    Unfortunately, as we all know, being in Russia right now is a little bit tricky if you want to buy something abroad, because you just can't use your card to buy almost anything from the border. So, your free course is just a real gift for me. Thank you Danny!❤

    Could not believe this straightforward concept would change how I look at sketching. Suddenly it made sense to me. As I tried to sketch what i saw, I expected the perspectives to be off...but somehow this idea pulled it altogether for me. Ok....the perspectives are still off...no problem tho. I had a place to start and a goal to follow. Just fill in the other shapes! Now I know how to start a drawing. Weirdly...that was missing before??!! Chuckle. I think my morning coffee cup will become the muse for awhile! ....maybe sticking to the same cup would be good. TY!! I really needed this video! I'm using a pen! Aaaaaack!

    I am enjoying this course- I am finding that I always seem to take ages to find 'just the right' objects to draw, instead of just going 'ok heres some things with shapes I can observe and draw', I think its probably to do with fear of failure or of making mistakes? Giving myself the best chance of 'success' Has this ever happened to you ? 😊

    I'm excited for this course and what I've already learned. I have a friend who has learned, by practicing, to draw contour drawings and fill them in with watercolor. She does this for her many travels and has inspired me to want to learn too. So I found you on RUclips last night. This morning I watched CBS Sunday Morning's tribute to the late Charles Osgood, and now I realize that you remind me a lot of him. You kinda look like him (minus his famous bowtie), but you speak very warmly like he always did as well. Thanks so much for what you do and I'm happy to be a new subscriber!

    Thank you for the great content. Used to be into drawing and getting into it again and your positive and encouraging helps a lot. I noticed you suggested using a single slow tracing technique when it comes to contour drawing and drawing blind (rather than the multiple fast sketchy mark that I tend to do by default). Would you suggest this slow tracing line in general whenever I try to draw contours and or/realistically? Thanks again for your content!

    • @SketchBookSkool

      I definitely recommend you draw slowly and confidently rather than shaggy sketchy lines. Your line is a record of how you are observing.

    Hello, thank you for your videos,they really inspired me. I've now started picking up a pen to draw what I see with my eyes, it's so much fun.
    But,here comes a question. It's hard for me to control the size of the object I draw on the paper. I either draw too large, exceeding the paper, or too small, missing out on details.
    I'd like to know when drawing with outlines, drawing with contours, (If I don't sketch with a pencil beforehand to establish the overall placement)How can I ensure that I don't draw too large or too small?😢

      @lshwadchuck5643 День назад

      I've just watched this video and wondered the same thing, having been trained to sketch the composition lightly first. But Danny has a charming, wonky style and embracing the journey is the secret sauce. If you wander off the page because it's too big, just take another swing at it right there, leaving the record of your first go-round.

      Yeah, sure. If you at the beginning of your master degree on Art in the University Art class. At this point I've tried quite a lot of "the beginner" tutorials, and they are all the same. They allways asume you are already good at drawing and you only need to "practice more" to get from "the good" to "the better". But if you can't draw at all, you want learn it. At least I don't, even putting a lot of time and effort and practice.

    Well, but how do you know what the shape is? How do you know where to draw a line to make this shape? I've allready tried to draw your keys several times and I failed every single time! Instead of shape of the keys I've got just a mess. And when I've tried to draw the inside shapes I couldn't do it, because they didn't fit at all into this messed up outside shape. What am I doing wrong?

    I draw the things that I like to draw for myself, and sometimes as gifts. Drawing is not what this comment is about. I just want to thank you for just being somewhat kind within your words. It doesn't seem like you're about to slam me with an insult, slurs, or anything like that,
    I have seen your videos before, but I don't know really what you're videos are about underneath it all...,but thank you for your kind words sir. Thank you.
