There is nothing more satisfying than watching people argue about European and Japanese weapons and armors being better than the other. But, I will point out that the tachi (not a katana due to it's length) would probably break or chip on impact with the Warren's avantail, mostly due to the construction of the mail he is wearing which at the time was riveted mail, otherwise known as the strongest type of mail there is. The damage that the orichi will do at best is probably break the Warden's neck. But it will not cut through, it could bend the riveted rings tho. But it will never cut through.

In a duel where neither person can run, knights are gonna win. Samurai were cool asf, but armed with a katana, in a fair fight against a knight, he’s not winning.
There’s documentation on this one king who was killed by barbarians. In order to get him, they had to scare his horse away from his men. Then they had to drag his armored ass off his horse. Then someone managed to stab him with a dagger (which wasn’t fatal), so eventually they turned him around. The barbarians couldn’t strip off his helmet, so they had to take a mace and beat his head in through the plate that way. All that for one dude. I’m not sure how much of a fight he could put up while getting jumped with 30% vision, but the armor made him a tough ass motherfucker.

And also Japanese swords were not "brittle" as some people are describing, but the katana or "uchi-gatana" would mainly be a sidearm the nodachi, tachi etc would be main weapons which would be a lot sturdier and effective. Saw a video the other day saying katana can cut through steel like butter because of the folding technique something so insignificant has never made me so angry

When fighting a knight, combat would often devolve into wrestling so you could wedge a blade through plates

Anyone who has RUclipsd modern knight fights can testify to the accuracy of this.
Hell, it wouldn't even hurt considering the SLAMMING I've seen. The sheer beatdowns you'd think it was murder

Yep people act like a mace instantly trumps armour, watch the episode of knight fight with maces

Ok a katana probably will not cut their neck because the chain armor, but a strong hit directly on neck will be able to break them

A katana would turn to dust the moment it touched the neck chainmail, it was made with such low quality steel that it wouldn't be able to have concussive effects

If that happened to you though it would break your neck. Only mail covering the neck so transfer if force would take anyone out

@@IcchiNutz they wear padding underneath to even further lessen the impact so a broken neck is possible but it would most likely just leave some nasty bruises

@@IcchiNutzit wouldn’t knock them out because the force of the impact would be centered at the side of there neck where there isn’t really a vital body part or anything like that because it wouldn’t hit the neck bone or the wind pipe.
