The problem is that African American Experience is different than others in the world, they think in terms of Race, and Racism it is constant in their Vocabulary, because of how they are treated, other blacks and Afro Latinos and even Africans don't think in terms of Race they think in terms of Nationality because they were NOT treated the way Americans were. In the Dominican Republic the Spanish and Italians were often working in the fields along with the blacks together that's how we got so mixed, America Had way many more English and Germans and it was evident in the difference on how slaves were treated, and those ideologies have carried on still till this day, just look at how blacks are treated by Police, you don't see that nowhere else in America, i'm not 100% but i don't think even in Canada blacks are treated like that.

Dominicans and other Hispanics have been coming here for years, no one cares. The older folk in my family and other people in our community enjoy latinos but they have hatred for africans, and yes they can tell the difference between an afro-latino and an african. If anything when Ecuadorians come looking for jobs they leave cause our economy is not the best and unemployment is still at an all time high lol we literally have a whole town dedicated to the DR and its a tourist hot spot. I am Dominican and Cuban. I am also black. I have had this conversation with many people. In DR, for the most part everyone there is Dominican. In America the racial construct is different. Race is everything here. We are defined by race. In America you are your race first. I remember when someone said you are black and I said no I'm dominican. I was like 10. That's because I thought black meant African American. But as I learned about history I saw a clearer picture. It came with more clarity. But here in America, on official documents the race section has white (non latino), white(latino), black or African American (non latino) you can already see how that is going to be confusing and how that is going cause controversy. I have never met a dark skin Dominican say they are white. I'm sure it happens but I've been around a lot of Dominicans here and abroad and I have yet in almost 36 years meet one that said they were white. So I wonder where that story even comes from
