- After watching the group of Gorillas for an hour, which is all you get with the family when you visit them in Rwanda. We were told by our guide that we had about 4 minutes to go and then the Silverback decided he had also had enough. Watch the video to see what he did.... What an experience...

Just by the facial expression/body language the silverback showed indicated to the guide there was a charge coming. You can hear him say "he is charging but don't run, don't worry just stand there". Amazing

Silverback knows the deal with these tourists and guides. He gets paid by the charge!
It is sad that they are used to cameras clicking and the tourism surrounding them, but this is literally keeping these amazing creatures alive. They are fiercely protected by dedicated loving rangers and tourism pays for it all to try to keep them safe from evil poachers.
My dream is that so many people all over the world can experience the magic of sitting, watching and listening to those magnificent animals for many years to come. Thanks for visiting you really contributed on the conservation of these mountain gorillas and you can definitely recommend it to friends
Have any Gorillas killed humans? The videos I've seen show them to be extremely patience and friendly. Even here he never looked at the directly when charging, it seems to me like a kind last warning.

Gorillas are really peaceful and prefer to scare their attackers. It's rare for gorillas to attack but it does happen and gorillas don't kill, they fight and it's because of the damage they cause with their punches and bites the attackers die from their injuries because gorillas don't fight to kill, they fight until the attacker is heavily injured and then leave

That's awesome, I read that Gorilla's facial expressions just from knowing Grizzly Bear charge signs. I grew up in Alaska, and have studied bears my whole life. I just had that gut feeling soon as the Gorilla turned his head and scratched his forehead a little that was coming. They get a look in their eyes too. Uncanny. Such tremendously different species with different signals but I see facial expression similarities. You can also read a Golden Retrievers face like a book. LOL. I have so much respect for these animals, but what I didn't expect was the coconut clanging sound of its chest lmao. I thought it would sound like a deep pounding. Kinda sounded like drums though.

The reason why the gorilla's chest thump sounds like coconut drums is because they cup their hands and lightly slap between the bottom of their chest and lower ribs as fast as they can

mars I wouldn't say all aspects. Our intelligence is what really made us conquer over the years. But in terms of just pure raw strength, a gorilla or lion would definitely fuck us up in a 1v1 in the jungle. It's just we developed so much technology and weapons that these animals are practically useless against our tools. We should absolutely preserve their lives though as they are a magnificent piece of this world.

Why do you need the cameras. Just have one professional there on the trek. Everyone else are a bunch of amateurs. Nobody needs or wants your photos. The constant clicking is ridiculous and irritating to wildlife. It also makes you not enjoy just the simple wonder of being present with these incredible creatures in their habitat. Photo-taking by tourists should just be banned. It does far more harm than good. If you visit these creatures, you should be silent. Otherwise, stay home and watch it on youtube if you need to make a racket.

I am guessing that the silverback is used to humans, so he is okay with humans coming kind of close. But at the same time he is still acting as a sentry even if nothing bad ever happens. So after an hour, he was probably getting tired of paying attention, so told the group to leave with the false charging. This is my guess. It's why the guides are comfortable with it because they know when he has had enough and wants them gone.

I think that Silverback is Charles. It is very easy to read his expressions, which he purposely shows very obvious warning signs. Why do tourists ignore the Guide's instructions? This Guide had to go walk in front of the tourists to make them back up. They didn't respect the instructions, so Charles did a warning charge. A lot of times he will go up to the Guide as if to thank him. If you follow the instructions, then you will have a very enjoyable visit with Charles. If tourists behave, lol, he loves to sit very close, sometimes right next to them, making sounds of contentment. His family is the Umubano group. He made history by being the the youngest Silverback to ever cease battling for the #1 spot because he got impatient, and left the Amahoro group with 2 females and started his own family. He was either 13 or 15. He's huge at over 420 lbs.
