Lovely, heartbraking. She had never sung the aria this way. I'm not saying it's the best version, but it's an exceptionally unique one. Intimate, painful, colorfully warm.
It’s when she could relax and all the little mezzi-colori could work their magic. Her Boston concert also had some gems, like Tu Che le vanità. Walter Legge said the technology he had in the 50s wasn’t capable of recording such a large voice, and there really wasn’t a wobble til much later, it was reverb from sheer volume!
What a Voice, my God! Looks like she was going to explode her skull!!! A prove that the Diva was still La Divina until her latter days. Love you forever, MARIA CALLAS! s2
Thank you for posting this miraculous moment! And it is definitely not the London concert of 1958. There is a wobble here in the acuti, but well-controlled by the diva. A beautiful interpretation!
Maria has lost her will to live and fight, not her voice! Mr. Onassis destroyed a world phainomenon, a music genius. However, like all her heroines that she be perfomed she is now immortal. A true gift to the world
By the end of the tour and especially at her octomber november 1974 concerts she was back in form and vocally much improved ! I have 3 audio recordings of the whole.concerts and she is in much much better voice than the rest of the tour! Check in my channel!
Lol the irony talking about 'moments' here and there when you were ONLY at ONE of these concerts. Great way to support your opinion of her entire late performances, many of which were quite lovely, some of them sad. None of them not a worthy showcase of art.

What a huge voice! This was much better than I thought it was going to be. Brava Maria!

Ascoltarla è una carezza al cuore. Questo recital non riesco ad ascoltarlo senza commuovermi. Cosa sei Divina Callas ❤
The voice just flows out of her. ❤

This is amazingly well sung.

Admirable

Onassis destroyed her because she permitted him to do so...her big mistake ...
Tacete e ascoltate in silenzio la sua ARTE.....
i am searching the farewell concerts callas di stefano Berlin,Chicago,Washington,Paris,Toronto,New York I,New York II and Tokio I! Who can help me ?
A great source is mariacallasmuseum.org ♥️
But these that you have mentioned are not present, I think they still have to be discovered.
I daresay this is her recital in London, accompanied on the piano by Sir Malcolm Sargent, in the early 60s
No, I guarantee you this is one of her 1974 Tokyo concerts. I have the complete recording of that night.
Its 100% her 27/10/1974 concert! I have the complete tape! Plus Callas never sang this aria in London in 1961 recital with Sargent!
I was at one of these concerts. Don’t fool yourself, people. She had moments here and there, but the voice was a sad wreck.

@@OperaMyWorld Hi! I have a question, do you have the recordings of Callas singing L’altra notte and Quando m’en vo’ in 1974? :D

Luis I will look for it as soon as possible, but I’m quite sure she never sung those two pieces in her 70s concerts... :(
@@luisvillalobos3452 Callas never sang these arias during the Farewell tour concerts in 1973-4!

Cordiali saluti.
