In the gaiden of Rengoku,we see Rengoku and Mitsuri go on a mission to kill a demon that previously fought Rengoku's father. There Mitsuri almost lost, at that time, she has a flashback of Rengoku saying to use her natural talent and flexibility as power and not weakness, and then she defeats the demon she was fighting and created Love Breathing. Even in manga it's stated she was not able to learn Flame Breathing and created a derivative of it. Not saying she is weak in any way. In manga it's said that her strikes are faster than tengen. So yeah It's safe to say that she only "knows" one breathing techniques even though she has learnt 2. No hate please

It've always been normal (atleast from my generation and up until now) to idolize fictional characters in some way. Parents (alteast to younger teens and kids) aren't heroes, they WILL be neglected.. stability isn't something a kid should worry about, so it will be overlooked in that manner. so it's much more important to the kid that they can idolize traits from sports idols, anime characters, fictional characters etc. to develope themself. Examples on "characters of old" that were mainstreamed idolized before Tanjiro (just to name a few) Gregory House, Superman, Naruto, Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, The Rock, Barney Stinson, Spider-man. I included characters from different medias to show that a lot of characters from different forms, universes etc. have been idolized for something they either represent as a cause or abilities / traits.
Actually with the last one tanjiro was the one who would have became a demon since he had the earnings and would have survived because e would harness sun immortality much faster than nezuko meaning he wouldn't die from nichirin sword decapitation
