Hello, Love the videos! These are helping me understand tax while studying for my MSA program. Is there a continuation to this video? Trying to fully understand the step-up basis...

Great that I find your channel. But I have a tough question, maybe you are the only one know the answer. I was the share holder of Inphi, which was acquired by Marvell last year. Each Inphi share became $66 + 2.323 shares of Marvell. So, my question is how can I calculate the federal tax because of this $66 cash out? And what's the cost base of the Marvell shared I got from this conversion. It is so confusing, and nobody knows. The only hope is you!!!

I'm not going to provide tax advice as you aren't my client; you should discuss this with your CPA. Here's a resource you might find helpful: www.unitedhealthgroup.com/content/dam/UHG/PDF/About/UNH-Stock-Basis-OHP-Tax-Treatment.pdf
