This is the only thing I don't agree with bc what's the replacement for capitalism or a free market communism or socialism we have seen how poorly that works in history and don't give me it was done wrong bc a utopian society does not exist and due to human nature is impossible to achieve I understand the thought behind this but you give to much power and control of all of our resources to a select few

    • @JonSimon-l9s
      @JonSimon-l9s 4 месяца назад

But Lyme disease is so commonly misdiagnosed bc it can present itself as so many different things and doctors don't naturally test for it unless you say something I got lucky my ex wife made the doctor test me after about 3 months of the crippling symptoms I got the treatment I needed and thankfully it was before any real damage was done to my body and I can't imagine going through that for that long man

    • @memehivefive9852
      @memehivefive9852 4 месяца назад

@@JonSimon-l9s According to Ren (via some comments on another one of his songs), he doesn't necessarily see capitalism itself as the problem, but rather how it's run and who runs it, which allows as a pathway to greed (which is probably the sin that Ren hates most). Capitalism can be good, and it is good oftenly, but it can be easily abused to gain power.
Although the pigs are references to capitalistic influences, it's important to note that the people are considered the pigs and not capitalism, because the people are what cause the problems, while capitalism just makes the problems possible.
And of course, a utopian society is impossible (utopia literally translate to 'no place', or a place that doesn't exist), but now a days it feels like people don't even try to make the world a better place. It's not about a perfect society, it's about a good society, and with greed, it's a lot harder to achieve.

I have complex chronic illnesses like Ren, and he captures the medical gaslighting that SO many of us experience so so well. I have had several doctors regularly dismiss my suffering as being psychological in origin, before they investigate other conditions that are actually the cause of my symptoms. So i think this goes beyond the mental health industry - it really is a commentary on how doctors are so often dismissive of our suffering (for whatever reason) which leads to delays in diagnosis, treatment, and support. And how medication is just so readily given, without concern about side effects and/or whether suppressing symptoms through medications is even the best and most appropriate 'treatment' for various conditions. This song really is SO powerful for the chronic illness community - it quite literally gave me a voice to express my frustration with the system to my therapist and I fully intend to bring it up to other doctors I have too x

Keep fighting...never give up...If you go down you go down swinging. I have a saying that I repeat in my head when my illness flares. "Im to tough to die". It’s truly tragic how doctors blame so much on psychological without looking into what their patients are telling them. The amount of times I was told by doctors that it was all in my head…..MRI proved it was NOT all in my head. As my current and amazing doctor pointed out, who wouldn’t be depressed being in so much pain that they are bedridden and have no quality of life.

As someone who went misdiagnosed for my entire life until I was 26 (2 years ago), Rens music really hits different. Its honestly helped me understand my own emotions about my chronic illness and whats been happening to me (I also never saw an artist with mcas who talks about it).
I was given meds that made me worse and made me sicker, then the mental health issues were treated when they were really just a symtom of the actual main issues (seizures) that was undiagnosed. Doctors decided I had generalized anxiety disorder and everything was in my head, because I'm a female that was ot for me. Doctors see "anxiety" on your chart and thats it. Inwas having a seizure and a doctor literally asked me "Are you sure this isnt just an axiety attack."

My diagnosis came almost by accident after more than 5 years of bagging for hope and being divorced. It’s humiliating to not be listened too. Add to that when family believe Drs over you it’s heartbreaking. I hate knowing so many people go thru this and tbh I’ve had to stop going to chronic pain support groups bc the amount of suicides got too hard to deal with on top of every thing else. The healthcare system is broken and the US govt has enabled apathy at alarming levels. “Sit their and tell me I’m sick w a smile on you face!”

My exgf who had sickle cell was regularly told she was drug shopping when she was in the middle of a sickle crisis, as blood clots were being pushed through her lungs, through her bone marrow, causing excruciating pain. She ended up living over double her life expectancy. (Her parents were told she wouldn't make it to 20.) One of her sisters died in her 20s. She made it to her 40s, but it wasn't an easy life. The whole medical profession gaslit her for her whole life. Doctors don't like people with conditions they can't fix.

I really appreciate your openness. One of the many things I like about Ren is that he makes people talk about things that are often brushed aside, and he brings different conversation partners to the table. If find his quietness and statement that he thinks that it is all making sense, straight after his cry out as drowning 'without making a sound' so profound. People shut up and comply when they lose trust in the system.

Thanks for your insignt from a clinical perspective. It's a pity you felt you had to remove yourself from that industry as I think those practicing (and prescribing!) in heslthcare would do well to hear this message - there are 1000's of Ren devotees who have connected through his music expressing similar experiences/struggles and let downs, feeling unheard by those employed to listen and not just be palmed off with numbing meds or their experiences discounted with the "it's all in your head / you're just suffering stress. Things like that push us deeper into the Darkness that is hopelessness.
I recommend Challk Outlines (Live) with Chincilla; Insomnia and Diazepam. I've not yet checked of you've reviewed Hi Ren - the raw exposure of himself that catapulted him finally after more than 10 years into getting some global recognition for his musical, lyrical and performance genius

I truly wish I could wax poetically about the struggles with all my diagnosis as succinctly, simply and to the point as well as he does. It refreshes my soul to hear a mental health professional acknowledge the current system is broken in so many ways. Here he is SPOT ON about how patients feel about their doctors, treatments, and seemingly lack of true compassion for patients. In fact, the frustration with this system, especially Doctors who sit across the table from you with glassed over eyes, sometimes causes me more stress and anxiety than other parts of my life. Hearing your analysis gives me a new perspective and also hope that there are professionals out there who do care, and one day the system may improve. Until then, we have been essentially marginalized by society. THANK YOU FOR THIS. Take listen to "Pocket Full of Pain" please as well. I will be following your channel closely now. Glad I found it. I am 39, and I am an indie video game developer who diagnosed with OCD years ago, then ADD and recently with ASD, also experienced four episodes of major depression along the way. Like Ren, I am also dealing with an auto immune disease since the last 7 years. None of our biology was designed for this ultra fast, high sensory, globally connected, consumerist modern lifestyle, and the society labels the minority who falls in the last ranks of their rat race as "sick". Genes and neurological varieties are like random dices which adapt species for the ever changing conditions of our universe, but our society tries to "fix" and "eradicate" those dices unfit to this bullshit type of existence we only created a century ago. This is what neuro-diversity movement try to stand against and I notice that, a lot of neuro-diverse people have anarchist tendencies like me, because we are the most oppressed. I am taking therapy since almost 10 years and using medication not because I need a "fix", because I have no such power to "fix" the whole society.

Doctors are victims as well for sure - most of them get extremely disappointed they are not allowed to respect their oath unconditionally, UNLESS proof of payment is possible. So in a short while, they either give up their job or they will just get colder and colder with their patients. The tick (read it problem) in this system is the insurance system and also people abusing the medical insurance system, throwing lawsuit for almost anything. Doctors in most evolved countries began to reduce amount of investigations to a person just to avoid not getting them (the patients) broke - can anyone even process that? We destroy the little good we have by allowing everything we build so far to be abused. IF tomorrow all the doctors will decide to go to strike to fix this will you cover their back? Cause all the big corpos will definitely put the cannons on them indirectly and some of them will also get licenses revoked without the slightest care, to be set an example.

Enjoyed listening to your reaction, really wonderful interpretation. It's so good to see Ren's music engaging multiple discussions on with mental health from across the globe. One slight cultural reference that might be missed, here in the UK the pig mask is a symbol that represents 'authority' mainly adopted from George Orwell's book 'Animal Farm'. To be derogatory towards the police you can use the term 'pigs' or you can say 'oink', you could also stretch the pig mask meaning to encompass the capitalist system as whole.

There's a lot behind the lyrics hidden within that you need to know about. I appreciate it this video, never thought I'd see an American ever find this artist, I love it, I love your channel; But it goes deeper. Far deeper than the top level of this psyche being portrayed. The rabbit hole runs deep.

I binged a bit of her channel after discovering it from the Hi Ren reaction, and must say it’s really interesting to hear a neurologist’s perspective on things. If you’re reading this, I encourage you to watch her Harry Mack reactions at the very least. It’s worth it.
She has a Day in the Life of Neurologist video too that was cool to see.

This song hits so close to home with my experience. I’ve been in severe physical pain since childhood. Age of 10 I was put into the mental health system, diagnosed with depression age 10 and psychosomatic symptom disorder as a teenager. At age 38-39 I was diagnosed with hEDS, Fibro, CRPS, Dysautonomia, just to name a few.

I really like your reactions and insight considering your position regarding mental health and such.
You have a very pleasant and soothing voice and i can hear just from your way of speaking that you have a very therapeutic understanding of these serious issues.
Another thing i love is the fact that even though you might see people with very rough situations and mental conditions quite often, it still get's to you because you are after all a human being too and that gives us who don't trust the "system a bit of hope, it is after all very hard to watch people suffer.
So, as someone who has struggled with severe depression for over 38 years now i have to commend you doing the hard work that inevitably will help us understand the human psyche a bit better over time.
It ain't easy dealing with other people's misery, it has a tendency to drag you down if you are surrounded by negativity all the time, no matter how strong you are.
I think REN is one of the most brilliant minds of the modern era when it comes to putting words on feelings that a lot of people have but may not be able articulate as precise as they need.
Personally i'm no fan of this song, but Hi Ren and Chalk Outlines really hit me hard both musically and lyrically.
    Big love from Sweden

I will inform you that Ren was wrongly diagnosed with a number of mental illnesses for five years when he actually was suffering from lyme disease. He got worse an worse by his own illness and also by medicine he got for mental illness. He is still suffering from that and many of his songs reflects this. He has many deep thoughts on many different subjects. I find him to be a real truth teller. I hope you will check more from him. I suggest you check Chalk Outlines as next.

Good analysis. I've seen so many doctors in my life but have had maybe 2/3 that actually cared about me as a PERSON.
The doctors that go into the "profession" because they actually want to help people, rather than simply for the money, usually end up blinded by their training. Osler, apparently, said that doctors should listen to their patients because they are telling you the diagnosis. Ironically, most doctors I've met have a narrow and limited paradigm, and anything that doesn't fit within it is usually discounted.

Funny, I found this. As a Vet I finally went to the VA, out since 2008. Saw my Vietnam Vet father get BS'd by the VA over agent orange. Upon my first meeting with a head Dr. about ptsd I figured give'em a try. After unloading what was on my mind, well, the Doc says "sounds like you got a lot of baggage to get over." WTF? After 2 combat tours and attached to state level DTF seeing tweekers kill kids, guess I'll just get over that. And people wonder why vets move to the country to get away from a fucked up system they fought to defend.

My biggest take from this video is towards the end where he draws the analogy of exploiting the Earth's resources and medication drip drip effect on his body, both unchecked leads to a similar destructive state. Fortunately in Ren's case, he's in a much better place these days, the miss diagnoses in the past, his Lyme disease almost eradicated. Unique perspective reaction, I enjoyed it!

I been on this situation way to many times. I was explaining my mental health problems, how i feel how i cope in society and so on. And the 'mental health nurse' said i am ok as i have a wife a children.
Here in Scotland we are basically sign posted to different places to 'help' i had been to all the places she suggested they didnt help. Then the nurse proceeded to tell me and added to my notes i am refusing to engage with services. At this point I walked out so angry.
I find it hard to understand peoples behaviours and even i understood she didnt care.

In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the head of the pig becomes an ongoing and important symbol. When Jack goes hunting, he is able to kill a mother pig. He cuts off its head, places it on a stick and the pig's head becomes an offering for the beast. The pig's head represents the evil and violence that lies within the boys, it also shows a loss of innocence in the boys and it represents the title of the novel, ‘Lord of the Flies’

I only recently found Ren, and your reactions, and I gotta, say, you nailed it on mental health care...
My psychiatrist gave me some meds to start my treatment (she diagnosed me with schizophrenia, depression, OCD, ADD (or is it ADHD? English is not my native language, I might misspell these, sorry.)...I found that weird since I assume there are tests to reach diagnosis, but I went through none, so I take the pills, they make me sick, I go back and ask to change medication because what I'm taking is making me sick, she explicitly says "I'll give you these, but you should know...if these don't work, I see no other recourse than "hospitalizing" you (basically having me commited but she can't say they'll have me commited.)
I never went back, and I'm afraid to try therapy again.

hello, I have schizophrenia and have spent most my life in mental hospitals. only now for 9 years have i been stable. it is very true. healthcare is very broken. the problem is making profit from of sick people. only way i can see how it can be fixed is if we remove the need for profit. much like how our police force has no need for profit as they are socialized and paid with our taxes. we need to also do the same with our healthcare industry. could you imagine how scary a corporate owned police force would be? yikes!
