After the horrific catastrophe in Maui, the words to this song couldnt be more poignant, and heartbreaking. IZ sang this song so beautifully!! Sad when he passed. Such a beautiful soul. RIP Israel.

I went to the Hawaiian islands in 77, and I hated seeing all the construction. It would be so much prettier and more like a paradise without them. I am so sorry for what has happened to your beautiful homelands

1997. Wonder what the ancestors of the native Hawaiians would think of present day Hawaii in 2022 where local style and especially native Hawaiians cannot even afford housing.
Hilo side is one of the few places that mostly remain unchanged from the late 90s and early 2000s but in a stagnant non business way which means less job opportunities.
